They rlly said pls don’t email us over the break HAHA
Wait until decisions are made. They won't update your statistics so it won't make a difference unless you are accepted and they ask for proof that you finished your in progress courses.Does anyone know if our fall transcripts should be sent as soon as grades are posted, or if they recommend waiting until decisions are made?
Don’t really understand what you mean by original phase. If you are talking about the pre-elimination thing couple weeks ago, I believe this is the first time WSU have it and I never heard we had the phase before. They just released the acceptance, waitlists and denials in the same time historically.Any current students have any insight to how many people were cut in the original phase of their application process? Or how many people are remaining? Just curious since they received so many applications I didn’t know if the cut was significant or not a ton
Yea sorry I meant the original like first cut they started this year. Just was curious if anyone knew more about it 🤷♀️ no worriesDon’t really understand what you mean by original phase. Yes, I’ve gotten quite good at mental gymnasticsI’m curious too 🙈 I wanna feed into my delusions by calculating my theoretical chance lmao
Last year everything was released at the same time for everyone in December. We are in uncharted waters this year lolDoes anyone know when non-resident and WICHE decisions were released last year?
I made a list of acceptance dates last year for every school I applied to 😅Does anyone know when non-resident and WICHE decisions were released last year?

I was a WICHE applicant and received my rejection email on 12/16 and they offered a virtual information session on ways to improve applications. I'm not sure if out of state applicants were also invited but it was like a group thing. They said they will not be able to provide individual application reviews or post the entire recording from the information session. So not being able to attend this zoom session is gut wrenching for me.We have zoom application review session for today? Is it for everyone?
Ahh I'm sorry you couldn't make it. We all have no idea - first time they did it this wayHow many of us passed the 1st phase ?
They didn’t tell us - current students might have some insight but as per WSU they haven’t released anything about what it entailedWhat's 1st phase ?
From my understanding it was a preliminary phase for OOS students to see if they matched a certain academic criteria. I don't know if you still have it but some information is on their website https://hub.wsu.edu/dvm-admissions/admissions-decisions/. To save you some time, it was pretty generic and this was the highlight:What's 1st phase ?
Is it the same phase that they sent out last month for notification? From my understanding it was a preliminary phase for OOS students to see if they matched a certain academic criteria. Applicants with a science GPA above 3.5 and a last 45 semester (60 quarter) credit GPA above 3.6 are generally considered.
Those that didn't automatically pass had a deeper review.
Factors such as the last 45 credit hour GPA, prerequisite GPA, academic rigor, work or family responsibilities, and extenuating circumstances are considered.
I think so. Im not sure if thats what they referring to about phase 1, but i assumed it was thatIs it the same phase that they sent out last month for notification?
Yes. If you were emailed that you passed the preliminary phase then you moved on to phase 2Is it the same phase that they sent out last month for notification?
Any requirements for phase 2?Yes. If you were emailed that you passed the preliminary phase then you moved on to phase 2
This is the part we’re not sure of yet. I think this is the first time they’ve done a preliminary cut/different phases. Hopefully we’ll learn some more by the end of this monthAny requirements for phase 2?
It seems it was a combination of things. the “gpa” on their website that talks about 3.5+ was obviously not a factor because people with over that GPA were rejected so I think it was a combination of application factors. They haven’t told us anything.Any requirements for phase 2?
I sent you a DM!Ahh I'm sorry you couldn't make it. I hope somebody did and can fill you in.
I am a WICHE student and was given an early acceptance offer on 12/16, and I saw the TikTok of one guy accepted too.. Maybe they went through some WICHE only applicants that day?
Feel free to message my privately if you want to chat more or some brainstorming your app!
Not everyone with a GPA below that, but can’t say what else they looked at to accept me past screeningSaw a source on FB say the preliminary screening rejected anyone with a science GPA below 3.5 and a last 45 below 3.6??? No idea how accurate this is but worth noting for people that were wondering.
Oh ok? The info came from a current student at WSU but I’m sure they also don’t know the full details. Hopefully the wait is over soon! Not everyone with a GPA below that, but can’t say what else they looked at to accept me past screening
I think in like 9 yearswhen do we think decisions will come out?
Between 1 and 1000 business days.I think in like 9 years
omg that's a huge OOS jump I'm trying to keep my expectations tempered though 😳Update from the meeting today. The application process and number of accepted seats have been change because Utah leaving us this year. New composition of the class of 2029 is available online at WSU DVM page.
Little summary here: we historically accept about 25 OOS. This year increase to 60 OOS seats including WICHE, non residents and 2 seats are specially to international students.
Besides, keep an eye on your email starting next week. I am not able to share the exact date but just FYI that the decisions will be out soon. You can also check the timeline on the websites. Feel free to ask questions.
Wow, that's fantastic. I'm glad USU is able to alleviate some veterinary school seat limitations for OOS applicants to the west coast schools.Update from the meeting today.
