2nd!What tier?
I am also interested in this if anyone has information🙂I have a few questions about establishing residency as an OOS student. If anyone is a current or former WSU student that has done this, I would appreciate the help
They pulled me off April 16th at 2:41 pm pacific time and they gave me until noon pacific time 4/21 to accept! So like 3ish business daysHi all! Been prob following this thread for sometime lol. Anyways was wondering though do you know how long they give you to accept once offer comes through? I am OOS tier 2 but have not been called off waitlist yet. Don't have any expectations with only 6 seats remaining. Already accepted/committed to another program but WSU would be my cheaper option. Thanks in advance!
Congrats! 🙂 🥳 🎉I was in tier two of the OOS waitlist and got emailed my acceptance today.
It’s relatively easy but you have to start the process a year before you can be eligible. So you have to change ur license/ registration and residency basically as soon as you moveDoes anyone have any information about establishing residency after first year? I'm selecting a school based on price and I'm not sure how easy it actually is to qualify for in state tuition.
I think they're still working on getting things set up.Is anyone else having trouble accessing the internal web pages with the incoming student information? I activated my myWSU account and I can sign on to it fine, but when I try to log in to view the internal web it gives me an error that says: “User is not assigned to this application.”
I (OOS tier 3) haven't heard anythingHas anyone in tier 3 received an acceptance email?
No I’m tier 3 but haven’t heard anything yet…Has anyone in tier 3 received an acceptance email?
that's what I thought as wellI'm tier 3 as well.. I'm surprised they are already on tier 4? It was my understanding that all of tier 1 would be pulled, before tier 2, before tier 3, etc.
Same! I'm also OOS tier 2. Reached out to admissions to ask if they had any updates because felt like I was going crazy and they told me nada. Would be lying if I am not feeling bit confused if not frustrated. It also makes me question their process and purpose for even using tiers to begin with.im tier two and i still haven’t heard…
Hey thanks for clarifying this! It really was driving me nuts being in the dark. But also I wish they were a bit more transparent with their process from the beginning because it does affect things for people waiting such as but not limited to ability to make future plans, etc. I hope the table online at least is updated and accurately reflecting the number of seats left.I called admissions and it sounds like the tiers that we were told don't mean very much. There are larger rankings with tiers within them, so not all tier 2 etc. people are actually in the same tier (they may be under different categories). The person I spoke to is going to talk with the director of admissions to see if we can get any clarification because she's gotten a lot of confused calls/emails today... so hopefully we'll know more soon
Hi! I want to join the chat but it says link not valid?Guys it would be so cool if you all joined this discord for our class that I just made for our class haha

Not gonna lie this makes my brain hurt.“Our program utilizes a holistic review process that includes both a preliminary and secondary screening for nonresident applicants based on certain metrics, including GPAs, as described on our website, the admissions HUB. We also have multiple different pools of applicants based on residency. Given our multiple residency pools and both the preliminary and secondary screening process for nonresidents, our application evaluation results in multiple waitlists which are all tiered. The number of tiers and number of applicants in any given tier can vary greatly between residency pools. Because we have both a preliminary and secondary screening waitlist for our nonresident pool, it is possible that we can be pulling applicants from a different tier in their respective waitlist. We are currently evaluating tier 2 applicants in the preliminary screening nonresident pool while we are evaluating tier 4 applicants in the secondary screening pool”
This is the email I received regarding the waitlist tiers.
LMAO i was thinking the same thing.😭😭😭😭Not gonna lie this makes my brain hurt.
For real what is the preliminary vs secondary tier for in the first place, and it seems as if they’ve pulled far more from the secondary list if they’re in tier 4? If they follow any sequential order of tier 4 vs 2, or if that just represents different categories of interest? IdkGot this same response too when I inquired further into admissions process for waitlist. I wish there was a better way to make sense out of it tbh. Like I at least wish I knew what these categories meant. If they are truly choosing people based on their interests alone, that selection process doesn't seem appropriate imo considering so many people change their interests/path before, during, and after their time in vet school for one reason or another (i.e., finances, family, fulfillment, etc.). Also, there is only 3 seats left in the program. In case anyone was curious they updated the table today. 🥲🙃
No offense WSU I love u but wtf does that mean 😭😭😭 what is a preliminary screening waitlist vs secondary screening waitlist

Looked a little further and the most I can really gather is the following:
**NOTE: They will tell you whether you have been placed in preliminary screening nonresident vs. secondary screening nonresident pool if you email them.
- Preliminary and secondary screenings are used during normal admissions process to review academic criteria
- Preliminary screening is for students with stronger academic background
- Secondary screening is for students who have more modest academic background
- You met preliminary screening criteria = preliminary screening nonresident pool waitlist???
- Currently pulling people in tier 2
- You met secondary screening criteria = secondary screening nonresident pool waitlist???
- Currently pulling people in tier 4
- While there are two nonresident pools, the # of tiers in each pool, # of applicants in each tier varies
- There are 3 seats left for the entire program which would be Pullman campus all 4-years option
What I am not sure about is whether or not they they are using people's interests and/or other criteria then matching that to what is needed/better fit for their program? I'm just really confused tbh. And I feel bad for those who might have removed themselves prematurely from waitlist, had a chance of getting in being tier 4 because university wasn't upfront/transparent all along about what the tiers meant.

I agree. Either give us all the information or give us none of the information. I'd rather be in the dark than feel like they are purposely skipping me as an applicant when they said that they would pull from the tiers in succession of number.I think at minimum they owe it to applicants who have spent countless thousands of hours, dollars on their applications, and energy to at least be transparent about their process. I can state prob xyz reasons I chose to apply to WSU over other schools outside of cost. Admission formulas can result in application being tossed or considered further. Putting the process into question or changing it mid-way especially for those in limbo being waitlisted really is not cool. It makes me questions things especially when they advertise their school/program to be holistic and inclusive
Yeah, I feel like they only applied the initial tiers to the first general round of pulls. And then maybe reorganized based off of results - either way, that’s not apparent and not how they said things would progress, which then - why tell applicants at all?I’m sorry everyone 🙁 it truly sucks being in limbo and not having all of the information. Before I got called off I had emailed about updated waitlist spots and they doubled down on not giving any more information besides what tier you were in was the tier you’d stay in. Nothing was ever said about 2 oos waitlists either in any communication I’ve seen which is ultimately frustrating 🙁 I hope they are able to provide you all more information
preliminary tier 3 got bamboozledSo... what is it about tier 3 that made them seemingly bypass this tier altogether lol. It does rub me the wrong way that the selection process isn't immediately evident at this time, when it is something I would have hoped they determined when they placed everyone on the waitlist. Unless they really are trying to make a class diversified in interests, but again, it is well known that veterinary interests usually change drastically for individuals in vet school.
This is a good point, too. I hope WSU can refine their process next year to create a waitlist system that causes less confusion for applicants.
