WW Child's Play; a noob game

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I missed the kickoff of this and had quite a bit of reading to make up. Are most people playing from the east coast? I hope I don't get screwed up with deadlines by being on Pacific time.

I don't think there will be a wolf related to each story. That would be a lot of wolves to begin with. Do you guys think it would be more likely to have one wolf who can convert villagers (any fairy tale bases for that?) or a handful of wolves?

I'm Huck, geez. No back pedaling. I said I was one of either Tom or Huck not Tom and Huck. I also said that I was a fun loving, mischief making, but good kid. I'm not a hero in the traditional sense, but I bring joy to other kids' lives and adults hate me.

Yet one more reason I think our bad guys are adults. Are you admitting to not liking a mischief making scamp?

I'm west coast too! I'm sure it will work out just fine as long as you pay attention to deadlines.

From the Wiki page, they suggest that something like no more than a quarter be wolves in a very fast game and often many fewer. I was assuming somewhere between 1 and 4 wolves among us.

I'm pretty much a stand-alone protagonist...don't wanna give away much else yet.

But the adult and the wolf in my story are not the same, but sometimes they are.... Anyone want some muffins?
I thought she sounded like the Muffin Man (but from Shrek or something not the old rhyme.)

Hmm. But you're one of the two, Tom or Huck? I just figured it was Tom because you mentioned shirking your chores. Or are you a different character from one of the novels? I'd guess if we have a Huck we also have a Tom. It's sounding like all of the good guys probably have a partner. Anyone out there with a stand-alone protagonist?
I was literally milking my goat just before I wrote that and trying to decide what to make for dinner for the kids when I decided to get on SDN again rather than decide. I told you I was using this as a distraction! 😛

By the way, one of them is a curly redhead. 🙂

Do you think some people are the antagonist of other people's stories??
And how do we form alliances?

I was looking at other games to and don't we usually have to elect a leader? why don't we do that instead of trying to kill each other first lol.

Reading through the thread and found references to offered treats. Looked up treacle tarts from the first post she wrote and found it is a real thing, one of Harry Potter's favorite desserts and:

This dessert featured in the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The childcatcher, in an attempt to lure out the children from the basement, calls out that he is giving away free sweets.

Sound familiar?

I think that is if a leader role is part of the setup. Then they tend to have a special power or special role.

You are trying to throw the trail off of yourself.

The quote from chitty chitty bang bang that I stated was said by Jeremy and Jemima (the children) if you looked it up properly.
I have muffins to give to people. I'm a child who is essentially a pizza delivery service, but for baked goods! Read through the posts more carefully before you start going around lynching people, please.

I don't think just being a child makes you any innocent either, wolves are disguised as innocents in all the other games too.

Also, I was responding to the child catcher gif posted by @Lupin21

In case anyone was wondering, treacle tart is a British dessert:

Similar to @hazelmoo, I am fond of 700nm light.

Well I had to youtube it and watch the whole video. The exact quote is attributed to the child catcher most often that I can find, but if you actually watch, yes it is what the children say.

Do you care to elaborate at all on your character? I can't think of any children matching that description as of yet and so far I'm thrown off by the fact that you keep offering us treats. I was really liking you, but I feel that isn't ringing true based on the offers of food and the angry response to my accusation. I have time to figure this out.

@katashark is claiming to be Little Red Riding Hood, and I don't necessarily see evidence to the contrary (it does follow that the treacle tart comment was in response to Lupin's gif, I think), but this info about the muffins is interesting...kata, you can give the muffins to interested parties? Any info on their powers?

There is a little girl called "The Muffin Child" who bakes muffins for her village when her parents are lost to a flood.

This is my first time playing and I don't want to get lynched! I got scared, and I'm sorry about my angry response. I apologize for overreacting. I'm sort of lost in this game, just like I'm often lost in the woods.

Also, I don't make the treats, I just deliver them to family members.

I wish my baked goods had magical powers, but I really don't think so. Sorry!

I think this could be possible. I'm rusty on my children's lore, but is there like a "supreme" villian that appears in numerous stories? (I figure there will be only a few wolves, so they would probably be notable) Maybe I should start binge watching Once Upon a Time.

I don't know if there's any antagonist in my story though. At least not that I'm aware of.

There are wicked step mothers, witches, boogie men, fairies that steal babies, evil queens, and of course wolves.

I am a pretty mundane character as far as fairy tales go, so I don't see why a wolf couldn't be pretty mundane too. But, a step mother would be pretty fitting for a single wolf since many of the evil queens were also step mothers.

I promise to keep looking. By tomorrow evening I will have the most logical choice, even if it just ends up being the person that never talks. When I find someone more likely, I'll switch.

If there are multiple wolves, I would not be surprised if they get to collaborate via PM. In which case I'm still suspicious of the 2 people I saw statuses on earlier that said "in conversation." But I need something more before I cry wolf.

You have a Delivery Service and are involved with baked goods, got lost in the woods...AND you referenced magic...are you Kiki? All I can think of lol.

This would be a lot easier if we had alliances/teams and could PM each other to see who we can trust. I wonder if the mods will figure that all out and post it tomorrow bc thats how most of the other games on here start.

But with no PM, we NEED to talk here so everybody can see the same thing and then everyone has the same info unless they are a wolf. That's how the most basic live games are and we are noobs.

But I guess the intro mentions alliances, so, I guess we'll see tomorrow.

@LadyOtheFarm, am I one of the people you saw with the "in conversation" status? I sent a few messages to Lupin and my mentor tonight, so I wouldn't be surprised if I was. I was asking if we could skirt the "no PMs except to mentors" rule by relaying a blind pm through our mentor to their other mentees. No dice though.

Yup, you were one. Thanks for trying for the PM though!

That is the fun of the game. Finding out who you can an cannot trust based on detection. Wanting things to be easy and served up without effort is a bit of a peeve of mine, so I highly recommend adjusting this train of thought unless you want to invite mod wrath...

Sorry! I just don't know how this game is played yet and I was trying to compare it to games in the past but i guess everyone is different??

Every game is designed with differences, but circle around the basic mafia/werewolf premise. As you all play more games, you will find that mods have trends that they like to incorporate into their games, and each one varies.

Lupin seems to like when people talk based on prior WW games.

I'm talking, I'm getting other people to talk. Have mercy on me, O my Mod!

Personally, I don't feel really suspicious of anyone who's talked so far. Might go for one of the suspiciously-quiet folk this round :lurking:

(I should be finishing the essay for that scholarship due tomorrow afternoon, but here I am)

so...reread the thread to this point and made note of all the people who've posted. These are the current players who have not posted, assuming I haven't missed any:

6 swiniazycie
9 Trilt
12 Chordata25
14 rockatiel
17 klmn87
18 Mouse2106
23 heyyimhayley

HOWEVER...in my searching I did find a couple more people suspicious:

ketoone - has only made a few small posts, one of which was voting to lynch someone rather hastily (jumped on the caiter bandwagon and had no further comments after that)...sus
princessbuttercup/PBC - similarly, has only made a few posts so far but they pretty much all had to do with incriminating someone (tried to direct suspicion onto LadyOtheFarm immediately)...seems like something a wolf would want to do, try to turn us against a fellow (assumed) non-wolf 😉

what say you?

I was looking at other games to and don't we usually have to elect a leader? why don't we do that instead of trying to kill each other first lol.

I think that is if a leader role is part of the setup. Then they tend to have a special power or special role.

So we have to find out who the leader is???

There is no "leader" in this game. Many WW games have a "mayor" role that is elected, appointed or otherwise, and is often given special powers, especially being able to cancel a lynch or to break ties. In pre-vet, the trend has been away from mayor roles lately, but that will change.

back to lynching.... keep up the accusations.

I've been around. I haven't posted much for sure, but I have been watching the thread. I was helping a friend study for the GRE for a few hours last night.

I'm not a wolf... and I think it'd be a mistake to lynch me. Especially this early on.

Hehehe, don't worry, I'm just trying to think of leads, still not ready to accuse anyone yet. I'll wait and see if PBC has anything to say for herself too, otherwise I'll continue looking to the people who haven't commented at all (maybe some of them won't/are unable to come back and participate? I'd feel bad about lynching someone who just couldn't check back in time but if it's an inactive player...)

jk.

I think it's a legitimate concern. Any suspicious behavior is, really. I do know Trilt and swinialetters at least are both in vet school, and we know how much time that can eat up.

I am a bit more leery of the pre-vets who haven't posted, honestly. I may wind up redacting my lynch on caiter for someone else today.

Just watchin' how things go, I'spose. This is all new to me, after all, and although I had watched some previous WW games in the past, I'm still not quite into the groove of it all yet. 😉

😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
Ooo a list!

Let it be known that there were no PM groups in the WW 101 game either (a more traditional game setup only allows PMing between wolves), though there was a mayor vote. The great battle of Candy vs Bacon...
