To add to rejections:
Albert Einstein, monte fiore, NY

Otherwise a quiet day.

@ID aspirant did you get an actual rejection from Vanderbilt? I applied but didn't hear anything.....
Initially I got an e-mail that my application is on hold... After approx 10 days, when I called the PC inquiring about the status of application, she said its still on hold. but after half an hour I got the rejection letter.... It looks like I invited the rejection myself!!!

8/11 - UPMC

There are like three people here now who weren't part of the first crop at program X but ended up getting an invite, so methinks it's not actually a rejection until you actually get a rejection letter.

@ID aspirant thanks! I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed for now although I don't actually want to go there.

Has anyone heard from Ohio State?

@amiondotcom it looks like Ohio State sent an interview on 07/31 by looking at the list
@annamaria I got an intervieiw from CCF Ohio on 08/07

Nothing from Case, Hopkins, Beth Israel, Northwestern, Rush, UofC or Uni of Wash Seattle yet - those are the ones I'm waiting on

@IDrules nope, I'm pretty sure that's Oregon, not Ohio state.
Interview today from the University of Southern Illinois (08/12)

Finally got my rejection from Vanderbilt! I probably would have declined the interview anyways!

Just out of curiosity, for those of you who are considering or would have considered declining interviews, what are your reasons? Applied to too many programs? Personal or location reasons? Program specific?

@WatsonG63 I had the same issue. I've just kept it short and sweet: said thank you for the offer to intervew, been complimentary about their program and then said I will not be able to interview. But I'm open to suggestions too

Anybody interview yet? Reviews? Impressions? @lifelong congrats on UPMC, I know you were looking forward to that. Also for anyone who wasn't aware there are a couple of program reviews in last year's thread but just a handful of hem.

Also anyone hear from Georgetown University program?

Does anyone know how the ID fellowship programs at Temple and AE, PA are?

In my case, I've been declining interviews simply because I applied to way more programs than I'm actually capable of visiting. I knew going in which ones were my top choices and which ones were a little bit sub-top, but still, some of these decisions are hard... I've been known to be swayed by the tone of the invite e-mail. Sometimes it's based on location, sometimes it's based on who has more faculty whose projects sound compatible, and sometimes it's based on particular quirks of a health system sound either appealing or unappealing.

Thanks! I'll try to post some reviews after my interviews (none for another month, I'm on wards until early September), but that'll be more useful to future years than for this year. (They may also be bland... it's becoming too small a world at this stage in our careers to be too critical of potential mentors or colleagues, even when hiding behind an internet handle.)

@ID aspirant and @Lifelong Student, have you heard back from BID regarding your interview date? I emailed them 3 days ago, after receiving my interview invitation, and haven't heard back yet.

Hi ,I am new here.
Did anyone heard back from Winthrop and MSKCC re: interview dates yet?
Thank you!

Looks like there are some great interview invitations! Congrats to you guys! Us ID people are a rare breed and glad to feel the camaraderie!

I got a rejection from NIH and U of Minn. That's okay! Super excited to get an invite from Tulane and UCLA!! Also got one at IU. Has anyone heard from U of Chicago? There are a lot of places that seen to have gone dark. Any similar experiences from others?

Thanks @ID aspirant, most programs reply back in 2-3 days, they are taking longer than usual. Please let me know if you hear from them.

Actually in my limited experience, most programs are taking up to 5 days to 1 week to confirm interviews.
Congrats on Hopkins guys.
Georgetown anyone?
