Hi! Currently wrapping up my first year of college and looking for advice on course selection for sophomore year--I need to take biochemistry next year but must do so in the spring (need 1 semester of ochem before biochem, which I will be taking in the fall. So the earliest possible time for my biochemistry would be spring semester).
In the meantime, for the fall, I am thinking about taking A&P 1 or microbiology. If I take A&P 1, I would have to take a semester break (to finish biochemistry) before coming back to A&P 2 in fall of my junior year.

I'm hoping to take the DAT over the summer before junior year. I've already completed gen bio, gen chem, sociology, math, and 1 semester writing class.
What do you all think about this?

What advice have you gotten from your academic/major or prehealth advisor? You need Organic for the DAT.

DAT does not test A&P, biochem, or microbiology, but you must check if dental schools want you to take them before applying. That is a different question.

In that case, are none of the three subjects explicitly tested? Then it might make sense to take A&P junior year, after my DAT.

This is what is covered in organic chemistry (update 2025):

At any rate, get your major prerequisites scheduled. It would make sense to get A&P done your junior year terms, though i don't know what other courses constrain your progress to degree.

Right, that makes sense. I have a scheduling conflict with the microbiology course offered this fall. Do you think it is a bad idea to split up A&P semesters with my biochemistry class?
