Mid to late 20's nontrad Texas resident. I care more about getting in anywhere rather than any tier. Primary care interest and want to work with underserved populations, with a service oriented application. For those reasons I think I'll try TMDSAS and the only OOS schools I'll apply to will be DO.

cGPA: 3.69

TMDSAS sGPA: 3.69

AACOMAS sGPA: 3.96

MCAT 514 (128, 129, 127, 130)

Texas resident.

ORM

Mid tier undergrad.

No research.

Roughly 900 hours clinial service between nurse aid and scribing.

88 hours shadowing between family med and pediatrics.

~350 hours non-clinical volunteering, includng hospice and underserved populations.

Significant gap year travel and unrelated employment. Tutored A&P for 4 semesters.

Any thoughts on my chances and where I should apply OOS state would be super appreciated! I should mention my spouse is an RN and they are willing to move with me anywhere. Though I'm not concerned about their being able to find a job, we do want to move somewhere that is somewhat enjoyable, as they'll be living life until I'm done. We like outdoorsy activites as well as city activities, but that kind of prevents me from wanting to apply to schools in places like Kirksville MO with a population of 17k and not any mountains or anything to make it worth it.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums.

Where did you grow up in Texas?

I don't have a strong sense of a timeline from the profile. What activities are within the last 2 years?
Thank you!

I grew up near East Texas, so UT Tyler is obviously one of my top choices for the Texas schools.

The activities within the last few years are my clinical experience, most but not all of my non-clinical volunteering, tutoring, and shadowing.
