Hi. I am oos. From NC, I don't know if they care about that though. I applied two months ago. Do they send a complete email? or do I have to call and check? Also, they start reviewing oos in Nov/Dec right?

I dont remember a complete email. I just got a secondary email.

USC has a STRONG in-state preference...

They have already interviewed some OOS folks...

They don't send a complete email, I guess you could call. Three OOS friends have already gotten in.

They send you a letter saying that they're reviewing your file. No complete e-mail, though. They started reviewing oos like 2 months ago.

I called Friday and they said they didn't have my 2ndary. But I sent it close to 2 months ago. The lady said to call back monday to speak to another women. I don't know if it was lost in the mail or if they haven't entered it yet. *sigh* this is the 2nd school that if I didn't inquire I would have never have known the application is not complete

Yeah, cuz I was under the impression that we would hear back on the monday after our wed interview...haven't heard anything...i dunno what that means...Did anyone who interviewd on Oct 21 hear anything?

I would assume that means you are on hold. I think their current cut off is top 50% of prior class (using what ever ranking system they use). After Dec 1, I am assuming they will have a better idea of the actual pool of students...maybe they will accept some of the on hold group.

This is the problem with rolling admissions... unless you are above the bar by a lot, then you have to wait it out.

I had a 3.8/29 non science major (so I thought a 29 was pretty good considering) with a grad degree (3.6) and I am on hold.

We will hear something by 3/15 right as I think that is the drop dead date to say you are in/you aren't/you are waitlisted

yeah, it can seem that way if you have never been to a business meet and greet! I did a few in my Masters so I had a clue of how to work the room lol........

Being old has a few advantages!! 😉

I've heard about the cookie time before, what exactly is it?

If its a meet and greet type thing like you said, whats the best way to put yourself out there without seeming annoying?
(Ie is it expected you go up to adcoms and start talking about yourself or are you supposed to make small talk w/ adcoms or are you supposed to talk to other applicants and adcoms will come meet you, etc.?)

You get a half hour of face time with all the members of the admissions committee. You have to just jump in if you want to meet some of them. You won't meet everyone.

I have officially withdrawn, so good luck to everyone else 🙂

I think it was about 15-20 minutes; not 30...but I did get there late because my second interview ran over.

I just went to everyone I could get to and introduced myself and gave a little background on myself. Some went after me and I went after some. Just get to them somehow so they might remember something about you.

I tried to work the room and not spend alot of time with one person. I think I got to 10 of them including the 4th yr students.

Well I just got my continue to review letter post-interview 🙁

I interviewed on 11/04 and I received my "active consideration" letter last week. I'm very angry right now. This is my 3rd year trying and I just don't get it. I see my friends being accepted left and right. Friends that are not nearly as smart or courteous as I am. Friends that have disciplinary problems, which I don't.

First, worry about yourself and not them. They are not part of your app...

Have you worked on things in your app that the admin has told you about?

And, remember this process is wild and crazy!!

Actually yes I have. I've followed all of their advice. I've already arranged a meeting to discuss their decision. I'll let you know how it all goes 🙂
