2009 western university..anyone yet?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think you should get an official interview email regardless. They keep it really formal, so they'll send you the letter via email upon speaking to you on the phone

Hmm. She said they would contact me again once they started contacting people for the next interview date. If I don't hear anything when people start announcing getting invited to the Feb. interview, I'll give them a call to make sure.

That is absolutely correct in your case because you rescheduled the interview and they have not invited ppl for the Feb. interview yet.
I suggest you wait until 2-3 weeks priors to the actual Fed interview day.

Hey guys.... Want to know how ur interview experience was? Did the student make you feel welcome and answer ur questions as you were waiting? Were they friendly?

Does anyone know how to determine if your file is complete at Western? You got one email stating that the supplemental was received by the school correct? and you got another email stating that the pharmCAS for the school has been received correct? so why is my file still considered incomplete according to the school??

Anyone had this problem?

Hmm.. I thought ~430 people will have an interview. They will accept about 160 people out of 430 people. About 120 people will be on the alternate list, and last year, they accepted about 60 people from the alternate list. That means they accepted about 220 people out of 430… it is about 50% chance of getting in if you interviewed. That’s what I thought....Maybe I'm wrong..

That's exactly what I've heard too.

i was at the interview today,...and they actually said something very similar to this...they accept more ppl than the seats they have because a lot of ppl dont end up accepting the seat...then they also pull a lot of ppl off the waitlist...

the interview experience was great. the faculty and the students were very very friendly. A lot of the P1s were waiting with us and went around to talk to us in small groups of 2-3. All my questions i had were answered. I still cant get over how welcoming the school is!

You'll receive another email notice that your file has completed and ready for the evaluation. This is from my experience and I just receive it on fri.

Did you submit anything else besides the pharmCAS and the supplemental?

I guess this is just a waiting game then since i dont know how my file is still incomplete

My interview experience went well. Everyone was so welcoming and the student hosts really cared about getting our questions answered. I liked the facilities and Pomona wasn't that bad. Yeah, it's not the OC or La Jolla, but I've seen ghetto-er.

I submitted the pharmCAS and supplemental. I have my general chem and my first 2 caluclus from Indiana so at first they think these didn't meet the requirements.😕 (I major in Chemistry and am graduating) However, last fri they accepted them over the phone and sent me an email that my file was comleted and ready for the evaluation. Thanks God.:xf:

the other health profession students were really nice too!

Hey guys,
For those that were interview, did your interviewers write anything down? I noticed that both of mine did not. Also, I thought it was an opened file interview, but they didn't ask me anything about my file.

my interviewers talked too much about themselves that I barely got anything to say about myself. I wanted to say something but they kept talking. They probably talked like 25 minutes and I talked only 5 minutes. 😡

Sorry to hear that. Sometimes, they can get carry away. I hope for those 5 minutes that you got to talk that they were impressed. You got into HAWAII so I am sure you were able to impress Western as well.

my interviewers didnt write anything down either...kinda weird. i tried not to look at the paper work they had in front of them...

who did you have for your interview?

also, the person that interviewed me also ended up giving me her business card...

ohh and they didnt ask me about anything in my file. the interview was more like a conversation...we just started talking back and forth about different things.

when i interviewed, i remember them telling me that they weren't going to write anything down during the interview. i guess it was so they could pay more attention as well as to see if you make a lasting impression on them. i'm pretty sure it was also closed file because they didn't know anything about me.

I interviewed with Dr. Chow and a P1 student. They were both very nice. How about you? Wow, you got a business card, you must be special. I wish I had one so I can email them a Thank you note.

when i walked in..she said that she was going to be jotting some stuff down.

hmm..

i interviewed with Dr. jacob and a P1 (the class president)

I am so sad. 🙁 I just had to withdraw my application for Western. I had 3 courses they would not accept that would need to be completed this Spring. Unfortunately this economy has hit my hard and I do not have the time or money to take all of these courses again. Good Luck to every one else. Western seems like an excellent school.

I'm sorry to hear that! Yup, I think Western is an excellent school as well. Hopefully you will be able to get in in the future!

My interviewers didn't write anything down either. From previous years I heard it was mostly focused on your supplemental answers, but they surprisingly sounded like they had never read any of my application at all. Personally, I like it much better that they don't write anything down. It made me much more comfortable and I knew they were really listening to my answers. I loved talking to my interviewers because we had the same interests. We ended up talking for 15 minutes about that at the end and before we knew it it had been 45 minutes!

Ya they usually write things down post interview rather than during it so they can concentrate on the answers.

I'm sure ya'll did fine .. you all seemed calm and collective from what I gathered from those that I talked too

I'm just curious, for those who have had their interviews, are all your prereqs completed?

Also, did anyone not sign the waiver and have to send in a signed waiver?

i interviewed this past saturday...and all my pre-reqs are complete...

about the waiver thing..i have no idea.

good luck! 🙂

I interviewed and my human anatomy requirements are still in the process of being fulfilled. What waiver thing are you talking about?

it may be the waiver on the supplemental reccomendation?

I interviewed Sat. and still have two classes to go. I spoke with the counselor office and they said you must complete all prereqs in Spring 2009. No summer classes. If you are planning to take prereqs in the summer, you must withdraw your application. That was what they told me. Thank God, I was able to add this one class I needed.

congrats on being able to add the class...i understand how hard it is to get exactly the class you want. SOOOO HARD!

ohh and do you remember when they said we should be hearing back from them? I am pretty sure that they said around 2-3 weeks? i hope sooner =)

Congrats on everyone who got an interview this past weekend. Im sure all you guys did great. Hopefully i hear from Western soon. This is one of my top choices since i live in southern california and do not want to move away :-(

Again Congrats

Hey RxFan,
Man, I guess your name do say it all, eh? I see you on this forum soo much:meanie:. Haha. I guess I am a little fanatic too. They said 2 weeks. I looked over the post and people who were interviewed on Dec. 6, heard back in a week and a half. They got an email on Dec. 17th. So it might be earlier. Keeping my finger cross as I do not want to leave southern Cal. Good luck to all of us:xf:.

Hopefully by next week!

=)

but i dont want to leave so.cal either! i live soooo close to Western U too!
well good luck to all of us..and we will hear soon.

For Human Anatomy, the requirement on Western's website said the class cannot be an introductory class, but when I used the "search the prerequisite database" to find the equivalence with Los Angeles City College, it said that Anat 1 fulfills this requirement. However, Anat 1 at LA City college is an introductory class. What should I do? Should I call Western to make sure this is correct? 😕

Does anyone know? Thanks. 🙂

I think if the database says that's the equivalent, then maybe you're okay. At least that's what I used to check my equivalent anatomy course. I believe mine is introductory as well, but we probably should double check with admissions then! 😕

my anatomy was introductory as well. and they accepted it. here is the number to the admissions office so you can call: 909-469-5335.

Thank you. I will call tomorrow to check for sure. Thanks again for replying so quickly. 🙂

Okay, I called admission today.

The lady apologized for the confusion and said that we should only focus on what is listed in the "search the prerequisite database". Everything listed as the equivalence prereq classes for each school is already approved by Western in the database.

BTW, that lady was so nice. 🙂

everyone that works there is reallllyyy nice. they help you so much!!

OHH..and does anyone know what the statistics for the accepted students from the Dec. 6th interviews was?

(just curious)
