Im so pissed right now that I could actually scream.... AHHHHH!

The RVUCOM secondary is now fixed, great, however when they fixed it they completely erased my whole application and now I have to refill out everything. I save the essays in word so Im not totally screwed, but I HATE that I have to fill everything out again. Annoyed.

On the plus side! I got the CCOM secondary a few hours ago! Woohoo! 🙂 7 down, 12 more to go...

Yay! VCOM invite today. That healthcare question is tough to answer in 1/2 a page though...

Aaahhhh I can't wait to start getting secondaries, frustrating! lol 0 down 27 more to go >.< bleh. At least I've already finished the 2nd essay for CCOM/AZCOM so I can use it for both, now I just have to write the first essay and start on the rest of my secondaries. Not looking forward to all of this to be honest. Especially not the $2000 its going to cost me.

Haha, I remember feeling like this. It is gonna get ridiculously annoying but don't let that get the best of you and be patient. Stay motivated because filing out secondaries over & over & over again is a pain in the ass.

You really applied to 27 different schools? Wow! I don't think I'd have it in me to fill out that many secondaries (I applied to 5 schools). Good luck!

13 DO, 14MD and my stats are horrible. If I was more confident about my application I'd apply to less. The MDs are just to say I tried again, I really don't think I have a chance. Money is tight because of it but I'm living at home so its not a major factor. I'd rather give myself a shot than question myself later. That said, I'm much more confident about getting at least one acceptance this year so we shall see. In all honesty I'll probably burn out but I don't have TOO much to do right now so as long as I stay focused I can get it done.

For the CCOM question, Why should CCOM accept you into this years class?, are most of you just using your "what qualities do you bring" essay?

guys,

schools with multiple campuses appear to really run seperately from one another. at lecom they want my new mcat score from july before they review, and at lecom-b i am already under review.

I'm gunna use the "what qualities do you bring" one from KCOM

Same here, except I'm going to be using my AZCOM/CCOM essay for KCOM  Got more space for the KCOM essay though so I gotta add some stuff. 1,500 characters is short.

Only 5 schools?! Really? That scares me a little bit! I applied to about 45-50 schools... I've lost count. About 19 DO, 19 or so MD and 8 in Texas... It would be pretty funny if I don’t even get an interview... Well, not so much funny, just depressing.

I only applied to schools I'd want to attend - and given a choice, I'd rather stay in-state - so yeah, just five schools for me. I'm a reapplicant, last year I applied (probably earlier than I should have, I wasn't quite far enough along course-wise, but I'm a non-trad so I'm anxious) to a few schools, then went back for reapplicant advising. They seemed to indicate I just needed a couple changes and I'd be good, so I'm fairly confident I'll get a spot somewhere this year.

Hopefully I'm right!

45-50 schools? Good God! Gluck auf

Got MSUCOM secondary today. Is it just the one, 1-page essay that we have to do? Do we mail it back to them? or email?

Im new to this whole process!

Your huge bump on your MCAT should get you into a few schools at least.

Haha, third time applying, and pretty much putting every effort I can into this one application cycle... Figured I'd go big or go home...

Let's keep our fingers crossed! 😛

Your MCAT score will definitely make up for your low GPA 🙂

Ugh, I really need to get a move on before all the MD secondaries start pouring in as well... FOCUS!!!!

AMCAS releases on Friday so you better hurry if you want DOs done before they come in.

Has anyone else done NYCOM's secondary? its open to everyone online. My problem is that when I try to log in to start it my secondary from last year is there. Dates are wrong, basically its just a cluster****. I need to get it reset somehow lol

Cool, that's what I thought (I just didn't want to be completely wrong as to what it is asking).

I am applying to like 24 schools (17 MD, 7 DO). I really like the DO philosophy but my MD apps were paid for with fee assistance, I figured I may as well apply.

I'm at 24 as well.....17 MD, and 7 DOs (as well lol), it's gonna be an intense couple months. Might even add one or two more. It's my second go around so let's see what happens

Why in the world does CCOM want this?

Upload a copy of your resume or curriculum vitae, which will include, but not be limited to the following information:

 • Educational History (colleges attended and degrees earned)
 • Employment History
 • Medically related work and volunteer experiences
 • College extracurricular activities, honors, and leadership responsibilities
 • Community activities, honors, and leadership responsibilities
 • Hobbies and nonacademic interests
Uhhhh methinks most of that is already listed on the primary. I swear that sometimes these schools just want you to repeat everything 20 times just to see who cracks first 😀 Thankfully I already have one of these done. Thank you UNIV 390 - a one hour no credit course that everyone had to take to graduate!

Check your SPAM folders SDNers. I had a secondary invite from LMU-DCOM in my gmail spam folder.

Just an FYI.

:luck: Good luck with secondaries.

I'm not entirely sure but I'd assume it has something to do with the way that they interview. Its entirely possible that they would give your interviewers a copy of the CV and not your application so that its a semi-closed file interview. Who knows though, sometimes schools just want random things. I've already got a Resume/CV so its not big deal.

got e-mail from OSU today asking me to fill out a secondary but when i went to the link there was no secondary available on that page. anyone else have this problem?

Makes sense.

wow...good lookin out, why on earth is it in my spam folder?

Quick question: For all the secondaries that you have to mail the fee, we should just make the check out to the school, right? (eg. pay to the order of VCOM)

I sure hope so, because that's what I did haha. I literally just got back from mailing my VCOM check.

The "what qualities to you bring/what do you have to offer" prompt is killing me. I don't know what to say that's not cliche or generic. Anyone have any advice?

Yeah, it's hard because there are only so many great doctor-ish qualities that you'd want to talk about. Where I tried to stand out was in explaining how I have these qualities (i.e. determination, compassion, etc.): I gave specific examples of experiences I've had that show that I possess these things. Yeah I know determination and compassion are super-cliche but I know for a fact that my determination is what has gotten me this far in life and what's going to get me into medical school one day. /end random monologue/ So I guess you could do something like that. I'm sure someone else may have better advice 😀

ask your mom and your best friends to be honest. good and bad.

Mine is similar. I talked about being a re-applicant and how i've had the opportunity to evaluate my weaknesses. I come in with a resolve, knowledge, preparedness, determination and comparison. Basically threw out some random stuff. Essay is pretty solid in my mind though, even if it is cliche.

For sureee, we can be each others support team. Especially when I have another meltdown when secondaries start rolling in 😀 haha

Alright, thanks for the help guys. Seems like the general consensus with secondaries is to just wing it and be honest/sincere. No real bucket list of guidelines like for the personal statement.

Ps. Isn't KCOM's 500 word limit a bit much? My PS itself turned out to be around 750-800. Two 500 word prompts ends up being even more writing than the PS itself.

Yes, I finished mine, but won't be clicking submit until I get an email from them I think. They email invites right?

I got this too! I thought I was going insane! I kept rereading the email to see if they said that you need to wait until July 1st like the website says. But I didn't see anything. That's annoying…

So I read this and immediately rushed to my spam folder and got nothing! Thanks for making me momentarily depressed! I already filled out their application and called them last week to ask if I should just turn it in without an invite, but they told me to wait until July 1st and submit it... Urgh. Why don't they like me!

Does anyone know when we can expect to see the secondary from PCOM?

I already got an invite from LMU-DCOM and it just said to submit the supplemental application. Should I still wait until July 1 then? (It's so confusing because the email just says to submit but the website says July 1....😕)

Last year their initial acknowledgement e-mail said they were 'updating their application process'. Not sure what their plan is this year. I was just sorta frustrated that my secondary is already filled out and submitted because of last year. I can't even edit it...

So if you could, you would submit without an invite? Did you call them to get the issue resolved with your online application?

For those of you who have already received your LECOM secondaries back (E or B), what was the turn around time on those? I thought they were pretty quick but I'm still waiting.

They "invite all applicants to fill out a secondary". If they have acknowledged the receipt of your primary I guess you could submit. i haven't had the opportunity to call them, being on the west coast makes it difficult with work. i'm gonna give them a call at lunch at 12:30 (3:30 EST)

Im new to this whole process!

I haven't gotten my secondary from them this year - but I assume it's like the one I received last year. If so, you should have quite a few forms they want from you (essay, nonacademic experiences, etc). I just overnight mailed it all to them last year (with tracking so I would know it arrived!

Also - when were you verified in AACOMAS? Because I was verified early last week and was hoping to get my MSUCOM secondary, but I haven't gotten it yet.

Hey guys, are you only sending the two recs to these schools asking for only two? I'm sure we all have some good ones that aren't science profs or D.O.'s, would it hurt to just send them along with the required?

Also, the 'evaluation' letters for KCOM aren't required right? I'm pretty sure they aren't but wanna make sure its cool to just mail letters.
