Look on the bright side, it saved you some serious dollars on a secondary.
I would be more upset if I got rejected RIGHT after submitting the secondary, which happens on the allo-forums a lot.

I'm sure you'll get in somewhere you want to attend, especially with that new rock solid MCAT score of yours.

So true! Did you read about that guy who got his rejection 25 minutes after submitting? That would piss me off. I would be on the phone with their admissions office demanding a refund at that point, because that is just a blatant request for money with no chance of being accepted.

I have the fee waiver so it doesn't cost me anything but yeah, it does save me the trouble of writing the secondary which I'm happy about.

Yeah, the more I think about it I realize how ridiculous it is to get into MD's though man, especially OOS. I mean I got a 3.2 in college and I was pretty proud of that, worked my ass off for it, but its pretty much the ****s out of the MD matriculant pool.

Are you saying UCD is the only UC you applied to? What?!!!!! WHY? I applied to all california MD schools. Long shot but worth giving it a shot! And I got secondaries from UCSD, USC, and Loma Linda (and I'm really really happy about it).
 
Yeah, I didn't want to fool myself into thinking I had a shot at any of the others. Best of luck with those secondaries, let me know how they go 🙂

USC and Loma Linda don't screen but I'd expect you to get a secondary from most of the UCs. You are in a much better position than the majority of this forum. You've got >3.7 and a 29 first MCAT if I'm not mistaken... I'd be fairly surprised if you got pre-screened anywhere

Yeah, man, this is a jacked up process and for those of us who don't live in states that are receptive to individuals with less than a 32/3.7 then we just need to cross our fingers and shotgun it.

After not even getting an interview last year, I had a pretty big reality check. I only applied to a handful of places, but it doesn't make it feel any better at the end of the day...

Is your hold status because you are missing information? If you don't have everything in to complete your application they place you on an automatic hold, because they say they only review your application once.

Did they send you an email post secondary? I have only received a "you are complete" email on July 20th that said they would contact me within 30 days about my status...

What?! Loma Linda doesn't screen? It's quite disappointing because I thought they do screen and I was so happy that I was screened in 🙁 So far I have 5 rejections (pre-secondary) because of my low verbal score (I suppose?). Getting secondaries is nothing and I won't be truly happy until I actually get an interview/acceptance, lol. The only secondary I got from UCs is San Diego. UCI and UCLA only sent me an acknowledgment email and let me know that they got my primary application but they never sent me a secondary (that's what I expected, so I'm ok 🙂).
 
I got another one. Three interviews to go to in the next two months. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'm hoping this will be followed with some acceptance letters. Good signs, I like good signs :luck:

Same here, but it's been almost 20 days though. I expect some status updates soooooooooon! 🙂

i got the email that said i was complete awhile ago so I'm definitely not missing any information (if I am, it hasn't been mentioned). this morning i got an email from DMU (for some reason before I read it, I already knew it was not good news) saying that due to the large volume of highly competitive applicants, my recently completed review of my application was put on hold for possible consideration later on in the cycle. man, im guessing my chances are slim but we'll see what happens.

and congrats chemMed at an interview invite! im also curious to where? the only other school I've heard starting to send out invites is UNECOM

Congrats, man! I'm glad to see everyone getting interviews... Now if they could only send some love my way...

I don't think any of the schools I applied to have started sending out invites yet, except Bradenton, and I still don't think they have me as complete there.. and if they do they completed my application on the 6th. But, I still show "X's" next to my prerequisite classes though on their application website...

Anyway, the season is young. 🙂

You can just change your SDN clock in your profile settings to one minute before the edited changes and you can review the thread prior to the deletion...

LECOM-E
LECOM-B
AZCOM

Still hoping for one at CCOM, WesternU/COMP, or KCUMB.
One interview is this month and two are in October.....right after I defend my dissertation. I am not allowed any breaks, but I don't care if I get in 🙂

AZCOM's comes in their "mysterious account portal" (I lol-ed at that cuz it's so true 😀 ), LECOM-B is via phone, and I'm not sure about LECOM-E (you could check their school thread).
 
Congrats to both ChemMed and Seap3 on the interview invites. I got my Drexel Secondary today, filling it out and going to submit when I get paid on Thursday (ugh). I also got an interesting email from USU asking me to answer a question as to my UG GPA. They are by far the only school I've heard of asking a follow-up question post-secondary individualized to the applicant. Interesting, it means at least they have looked at my application! lol I'll be writing something when I figure out what to write and submitting that to them hopefully tomorrow. Hopefully more of us start hearing some good news!

"Submission of a complete Application for Admission does not guarantee an interview and attending an interview does not guarantee acceptance into the program."

i answered my own question...*sigh* i was excited for a second till i realized it's only a secondary and not an interview invite =[

I have been a lurker of a SDN for several years. But this is my first post

First, just want to say hi" to everybody and share my great experience today!

I just received two consecutive interview invites today from

LECOM Brandenton (scheduled for october 8)
DMU (scheduled for september 9)

So far, I have sent 5 secondaries and was complete to 4 of them. One of these schools is LECOM Erie. I have been complete since 7/22 but my application is still under review. I have pretty good stats 3.75 GPA and 30 MCAT. To those people that got an interview invite from Erie PA, what day of the week did you receive your interview invite? Monday, Tuesday, etc?

I am asking because I know some medical school admission committee only make decisions certain days of the week.

Also, I'm planning to send an application to PCOM. I didn't send a primary yet because at UCSD, there's no premedical committee. In addition, I only went to pre-med advisor two times and there's no one person assigned to certain student. I am also not acquainted with the dean of the university.

My question is, is it worth writing a letter to the dean and ask her for a letter of recommendation even if she has no idea about my character and the only thing she knows is that I graduated?

PCOM has expressed that they are aware that at large institutions the services may not be available. The committee letter can be bypassed by having your school's letter service send the letters in a packet. If not, you can also have your dean write a letter simply stating that you graduated and did not incur any academic problems while attending. I went to UCLA and had the same problem, UCLA actually has a dean's letter offered through the office of the dean. UCSD likely has the same.

Congrats on the interviews btw, and great stats! Did you apply to the UCs also?

Fortunately, I have all my letters compiled through UCSD filing service. So sending the letters to PCOM via this method would be sufficient?

I would call the dean's office of biological sciences department tomorrow and ask about the dean's letter service.

To answer what your question, I did apply to some UC's got 1 interview but got rejected.CA schools are so competitive my GPA/MCAt is lower than average and maybe they didn't think I was so interesting. lol

I got the Erie interview invite on a Friday.
 
Finally, I got an invite for LECOM PA scheduled for October 1!!! Wohoo. Three interviews so far. Hopefully, this gets me somewhere.

Congrats! Do you mind telling me which UC you got an interview at? We have similar stats (My GPA is higher than yours but your MCAT is higher than mine), and I'm a Cali resident as well. (I hope I'm not asking too much 🙁). Thank you!

Ah 🙁 UCD rejected me (pre-secondary). Anyway, good luck with all your interviews!!!! I scheduled my DMU interview on 10th, so I guess I'm not gonna see you there 😛
 
Man, I am excited for all of you with interviews, but it's hard to not start beating yourself up at this point...

Thus far: 0 interviews; 24 secondaries submitted... Sigh...
