Just got my 2nd MCAT score back! 31O!!!! Up from a 27Q!!!! I think I may be able to get in somewhere now! WOOOOO!!!!

Ahh, good to have this monkey off my back now. Ps. I've been MIA recently b/c I just got a new labrador puppy. I wish I had picked him up a little older, real pain the ass dealing with a 1 month old. Also got the iphone 4 yesterday, solid phone so far 👍. Anyhow, hope everyone's apps are going well, I still need to hear back from 5 schools.

It seems like the exact same paper application I got the last two times I applied!!! Haha.

No word limit or guideline, I am just attaching a sheet of paper for the first one and another sheet for the last 2 questions...

I received and submitted DMU's about 2 weeks ago. It was an email request. Maybe it's in your junk email?

Maybe it's too early to expect a secondary from DMU since my app was just released to schools last week. But I wish they could just hurry up and just give me the secondary already! 😀

Bah! You'll get one soon enough. I think DMU took me about a week to get, but that was at the beginning of July. I'm sure they are a bit busier now.


Now Touro-CA on the other hand... I just got a post card the other day that stated they have received my LOR's, but they are still missing my application... I haven't even received their application!!! I think a couple of the DO schools sent my secondaries to my old address...

Yeah the PCOM's are a total hassle for me too. Non-trad post-bacc...No pre-med advisor or regular advisor...not using committee...no dean that knows me or will write a letter because I go to a big school and a dean won't have time. IDK what I'm going to do yet.

I just sent an email off to the pre-med adviser at my undergrad begging for a letter. We'll see how quickly (if at all) she responds. I'm over five years out from undergrad, so I'm not sure how smoothly this will go, but my parents live about 1.5 h from GA-PCOM so its high on my list, and worth the effort!

I essentially asked her for a letter that says "Dear AddCom, Peachy graduated from Undergrad U. in 20XX with a degree in awesomeness and was in good standing. She was an active participant in all the things she said she was in and we liked her a lot. Vote for Peachy! Sincerely, Dr. Pre-med Adviser. "

I would just email a couple of folks at your undergrad univ./college and request a simple letter that shows you went to the school, graduated from the school, and there were no "issues."

Also, my TMDSAS was finally transmitted today, YAY! 😍Its a good application day for me! Hopefully my day in the lab will go just as smoothly!

It says a Dean's letter is acceptable and those are almost never personal. How many people are genuinely acquainted with the Dean?!?

IIRC, I think they just want to make sure there isn't anything nefarious about your undergrad education.

I'm sending other letters. I asked at a conference if additional letters were okay, and they said, yes, just don't overwhelm us with them.

I got that one this morning too! So if I have a undergrad premed advisor letter packet, I don't need any more letters right?? Im going to have to take my own advice and get it together, I am now two secondaries behind (both PCOM) and its going to take me a while to formulate this why PCOM question... Ugh.

I returned all my secondaries within 1-2 days of receiving them.

Since your DO already knows you need a letter, I don't think there is any reason to wait 2 weeks unless you've got something significant planned in that time. One of my DOs knew I needed a letter the very first time I met with him, and finished writing it the last afternoon I shadowed him. He even joked to one of the patients that I was there to get a letter. As long as you've gotten in 2-3 days and have had a chance to talk to him/her, then I think that is enough.

Just be honest and let him/her know where your application status stands and that you are ready to submit your secondaries. Go ahead and submit your secondaries now and get the letter in asap.

Yeah, I got Kansas' secondary (MD not DO) and there is no way I'm going to take the time to write 14 essays on a whim...

On a separate topic, have anyone's letters been "received" by AZCOM. Mine were sent 3 weeks ago and still marked incomplete. I called them and they said that they haven't started downloading interfolio letters yet. Sounds strange to me.

i called them up a few days ago, and one of the ladies was really helpful and said than another person who is the only one who has access to the interfolio portal isnt back from vacation yet and will hopefully be caught up with everything by friday or monday, so to wait till then. hope this helped.

i love it when u call up a com and they re really pleasant on the phone and understand that this is a stressful time for everyone involved.. just thought i d throw it out there. good luck everyone!

That is strange. They might have just started downloading the Interfolio letters yesterday though. I sent my first batch over 3 weeks ago, then 2 weeks ago I called to see if they had received them, and they said no. I then called Interfolio, and they called AZCOM for me and called back to say they fixed the problem. They still didn't show up as being received though.

Yesterday I was getting ready to send my DO letter, so I called them to ask about my letters so I could attach my other letters if necessary, and they checked and said they did have them. Then, about 1 hr later they showed up as being received. I sent my DO letter yesterday and already today it is showing up.

Maybe they just process them faster if you call repeatedly.

Agreed.

I just double checked my word document, it's actually 15!!!! Yeah, I can't imagine filling those out, unless I can substitute in other essays from different schools. Plus, they say that they will close your application if you don't get the secondary in in 4 weeks.

😡 wtf.... I sent mine in July 1st and they still haven't been received. CCOMs were received the next day after they were sent. So frustrating. Especially since I just called and they said they hadn't begun downloading them yet somehow people already have them attached. I'm going to have to call again tomorrow and ask them about this.

I wouldn't get too upset yet. When I had originally talked to them a couple weeks ago, they said they had downloaded the letters from June, and probably wouldn't be downloading the July letters until things got more settled down with this years students. The lady who does the Interfolio letters was gone until yesterday. She is very nice, and it sounds like she is working to get them all caught up.

I guess that doesn't explain why my letter sent yesterday has already been downloaded though.

i think it is alittle too much..but it is hard to cut things out since i am very interested in the school and plus they didnt really specify a length restriction...so i guess just write as much as you can to get your point across

Ya I have about a page that I've written or I could write it super concise and not elaborate on anything like a CCOM type question. Hrm. I guess it would help if I had the damn secondary! lol

To the other person thanks for informing me about AZCOM, I'll call again on Friday or Monday I suppose.

Did they email you or did you call them? I couldn't find anywhere on the portal site that says what my status is, but I did receive an App Complete email a while back.
