Got a letter in the mail saying that file is under consideration.
Is it a rejection or I still stood some chance of acceptence?

thanks

There is still a chance you could be accepted. They are in the process of re-reviewing files that were put on hold right now. You could possibly get a March interview date.

Nope, you arent on the waitlist yet. They put that together later. What the letter says is exactly what position you are in... They are holding off on making a decision until they interview more people.

Interviewed 2/2.... Accepted 2/4!! Class of 2015!!

During my day at USC i asked specifically what was the earliest I'd hear back. They told me Mid-February. I got the "no final decision" letter, dated Feb 4th saying they couldn't offer me a spot based on my interview score. Does this mean they've actually reviewed me or what?

I'd say you were turbowned.

but seriously, if the letter isn't a flat out rejection you aren't done yet.

Same here! Congrats!

I just started a facebook group called "University of South Carolina School of Medicine Class of 2015" a few days ago. Anybody on here who'll be around in August should join up!

Nothing yet. According to Dr. Catalana, on the day of my interview (2/9), we could expect to hear back "between 1 to 2 weeks." Here's hoping for good news next week!

No, I haven't heard anything yet, and I also interviewed on the 9th. Hopefully we'll hear something soon!!

Hey guys - quiet over here also..Not sure if there would be any activity on a Wednesday with interviews going on. Maybe Thursday or Friday more likely to hear something?

I interviewed on Feb 16 and have not heard anything yet.

One of the students told me that they will call you a day or two after your interview and offer admission if your score is within the top 50% of last years. They also said that they review the applications in the middle of the month and that we might hear back mid March.

My interview was really rough. I feel much better about my interview at MUSC.

Good Luck for all of you with upcoming interviews.

Oh no...what does really rough mean exactly? I'm already nervous enough!

I'm preparing using the SDN feedback and other general interview questions. Any advice at all would be much appreciated.

Hi, lady
don't worry too much about it. I interviewed Jan 26th and had a great experience. the admission staff is very friendly and helpful. DRs Thornhill and Catalana do a great job of introducing you to the process. They really want to get a sense of who you are as a person. what drives you? My two interviews were more conversational than stressful. Good luck! PM me if you have more questions.:luck::xf:

Does anyone know when the last interview date is.

The last group of interviews are scheduled in the end of march (23rd or 30th, not sure). I was told they will start sending out final admissions and wait lists after the last interview group. Hopefully we should all hear something by early april...

well that is good news then. To me it doesn't sound like they even reject anyone, at least anyone on these boards, until after all interviews are conducted

I interviewed on February 9th, but haven't heard anything back yet. I thought I would hear something after the 15th, which is the day they supposedly make decisions. Is it likely they're just waiting until after all the interviews in March?

How many people interviewed this year? And does anyone knowa rough number for the waitlist they make and how many usually get in off the waitlist? Thanks!

I think they said that they interviewed around 400 this year during my interview. I interviewed on Feb 16 and still haven't heard anything yet. On interview day they said that we would probably hear something mid march.

And I think they said as of Feb 16 they had given out 100 acceptances but the majority of aceptees had multiple acceptances.

Thank you so much!

You were right - it wasn't bad; I actually really enjoyed the day there overall. My interviews were very much conversational, but some others I was with that day got some controversial questions.

And yes, from what I heard March 30th is the last interview date. And to confirm they did say that they had around 3,000 apps 😱 this year and gave around 400 interviews.

Thanks to everyone for his/her help! Hopefully I'll hear back soon... :xf:

I also interviewed on March 9th, and we were told that the admissions committee would not be meeting again to send out acceptances until after all the interviews were finished on March 30th. 🙁

We were told to expect to hear something the beginning of April or April 15th at the latest. I was hoping we would hear mid march, so that was a disappointment.

Has anyone from the Feb 16 interviews heard back yet???

They also said that they send out almost 180 acceptances a year, which is not a bad percentage

I'm glad that your interview went well. I think I was in the group that got the more controversial questions.

Hopefully we will all hear something soon.

Nope...Still waiting.

Hope to hear something this week.:xf:

ME TOO!!! good luck!!!! :xf:

-- and if you don't mind me asking what were your controversial questions like? Mine from that day were mostly about my application, grades, family, hobbies ect.. pretty normal and expected I thought ?!?

My opinion on socialized Heathcare/universal health care
Issues with medicine today (access to care ect.)
How would I address these problems if I had x amount of money.
Role-play :scared: (not exactly controversial but a little unexpected)

i had the same questions when i interivewed in dec with dr catalana...i thought i did awful but i got in so im sure u did fine. Good luck

Congrats on your acceptance!!!!

Good to know that you got accepted. I went in confident and came out much less so.

This is true. Several people have told me that there's actually a better chance than I think of being accepted. It's not that I'm pessimistic...I just don't want to be disappointed! As hard as it is, I'm trying to stay neutral. 🙄

Congrats to all those accepted, good luck to those interviewing the next couple weeks and those who are waiting to hear back!

I had many of these same questions, and a few others that related. My interviews were not conversational. They were mostly question and answer sessions where they wrote down what I said....very intimidating 🙁

I thought it was much harder than my interviews at other schools, and I did not come out feeling very confident. Still hoping for the best though!

I called the school yesterday to check up. Dr. Ford said that they have not yet given out any acceptances from my interview date (Feb 16).

Well, that is good news! Thanks for sharing!! Did she have a new time frame for hearing something back?

That's good, I interviewed that day as well and was told I'd hear back sometime in mid-March so I'm chewing my nails too haha.
