There were two days- the first one was in Miami, the second one was in Jupiter (in Palm Beach County), and I am pretty sure all the MD/MPH applicants were only interviewed once, so there weren't separate MD and MPH interviews. Some people interviewed the first day (me) and others the second day. My interview questions mostly focused on my application- why did I write X, why did I do Y, why public health? etc. The rest of the days were relatively relaxed, med students gave us a tour of the miami campus, there was a presentation on financial aid and on the programs at the school, and in Palm Beach also presentations (more on the MPH curriculum) and a tour of one of the public clinics.
 
Does anyone know when the next adcom meeting is? I was scheduled for 1/11 but didn't get a call or an e-mail, so I suspect I was pushed back to a later date.
 
I also woke up to a waitlist email on 1/12. I was quite bummed, UM is my top choice by far so I'm still hoping to move off the alternate list at some point :-/
 
I was accepted into the MD/MPH program a few weeks ago (yay!! PM me if anyone has any questions about interviews, etc), but was wondering if anyone knows what day that masters courses start in the summer? I think they said something about mid-June but can't really remember...

Ha i'm also wondering this! (and pretty sure we interviewed the same time) I heard it was late june...but thought they were giving us more information in February. Unfortunately I don't know for sure.
 
I applied to the MPH program about 2 months after I interviewed at Miami (I am on the alternate list). I'm assuming I'll be reviewed separately for my MD/MPH application and receive another decision, but does anyone know how long it takes to hear? I submitted the MPH application a month ago.

I'm also wondering when classes would start for the MD/MPH program. I was trying to figure out from last year's thread - someone had posted June 15th as the first day. But not sure if this right, and it probably changes from year to year. Hopefully we will get more info when we get the official acceptance in the mail.
 
After being put on the Alternate list in October, I applied to the MD/MPH program. Still waiting to here anything else back. Only be accepted to one other school (FAU). I would love to have the choice.
 
Accepted! Get a phone message that my status was updated, and received the acceptance e-mail a few minutes ago. Interviewed 12/12.
 
Accepted just a few minutes ago via email!

Interviewed 1/9.
 
Second Alternate list for me, MD/MPH this time. Anybody know if they are rejecting? Or does everybody who is not accepted get a spot on the purgatory sheet?

I know that Admissions is accepting less applicants right out of their interviews because they want to give late interviewees a fair shake. I'm not 100% sure if they're interviewing the same number or if they're interviewing more applicants this year so hopefully they will interview the same number and accept more off the Alternate List this year.

I got an interview invite last night, so there is still hope!!! 🙂 The last day for interviews is 3/30 for MD applicants. Idk about the MD/MPH or MD/MBA programs. Good Luck! :xf:
 
If the last interview is 3/30 that probably means about one or two weeks left for invites right?? CROSSING FINGERS!!!
 
Hey Everyone!

Does anyone know if there is a facebook group or a SDN group for the 2016 class? I've searched both and can't find anything! I'm like 90% sure I'm going here this summer and want to hop on the apartment search! any help would be appreciated 😀
 
Any chance they are still giving out interviews?

Not necessarily true. I got my II on 1/6 and the possible interview dates were for just the next few weeks, so they really can squeeze you in there. (I got my interview date changed, and I'm flying to Miami tomorrow!)
 
Quick question for those who have been accepted to the MD program. The acceptance email says we need to write back (email followed by paper letter) to reserve a place in the class.

Is this letter binding? I called admissions and they said that it was binding, but that doesn't seem to make sense because I thought that according to AAMC traffic rules, no school can make us commit until May 15. Maybe it's binding but we don't have to accept the offer until May 15th?

Anyway, if anyone has experience with this, please let me know.

that's very strange...from what i read we needed to send in a letter to *RESERVE* our spot not to officially commit...plus what can they do anyways? it's not like they had a deposit or anything

Yeah send it in! This is just a letter acknowledging that you received the acceptance and yes you still have until May 15th to decide. that's great news! Congrats.

edit: waita second, this isnt my profile, hold on ... thats what you get for signing into SDN at a hospital ...

Congrats on the invite. Are you IS or OOS? I just called today you find out my status and they said my app has been reviewed but still no decision on whether to invite me....ahhhh:scared:
 
Anyone else had the 1/20 interview day? Was it this upcoming Wednesday or the Wednesday after that were supposed to hear back?
 
I interviewed over two months ago and still haven't heard back about MD. I knew I would have to wait because of break but is (or was) anyone else in the same position? I have called once in awhile and they said I will hear back soon each time.

Same boat. I've been through 4 AdCom sessions without a firm answer now, after being GUARANTEED by Dean Weisman that other applicants and I would receive a decision on our first review date. A couple of weeks ago I called, mentioned who I was, and admissions told me that they were a little late sending out e-mails and that I would be receiving one soon, as well as something in the mail. So I asked if I could have a preview of what to expect, and they're like, 'Wait, who are you again...?' Then it turns out they still hadn't reviewed me...

And it isn't just Miami that has pulled this kind of stuff. Pretty ridiculous how such prestigious institutions can be so demanding of their applicants, and then be exasperatingly unorganized themselves!

I understand that medical school admissions is a very busy business, but I don't think it's too much to ask to be kept well-informed of the state of one's application, especially when 'guarantees' are thrown around... :bullcrap:

ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got the call today shortly after 5pm.
 
Has anyone received an MD/MPH email but not MD? Is it possible to be looked at for one but pushed back to the next meeting for the other?
