This ain't looking good.

everything will work out the way its supposed to; if they dont think youre a good fit for them, then hopefully the better fit will come from somewhere else.

at least thats what i'm telling myself..

im a UM undergrad alum, 3rd time md applicant, interviewed sept 26/27 for md/mph.. and no phone call yet ;_;

has anyone who interviewed late Sept been called?

i interviewed on the first day - more acceptances will be coming out again in a week or two, i wouldnt get too stressed just yet. good luck to everyone that interviewed and for those that get accepted we need to be in touch!

Hey Jimmer, were you regular MD or MD/MPH? Congratulations as well 🙂

Today i am a very sad panda. I was interviewed on the first day of interviews and got no call.

really hope i don't get any news today/tomorrow so i know my decision is pushed to the next meeting...really dreading that email...interviewed mid-Oct...really loved UM.

The good news is that last year there was at least one person who interviewed very early who didn't get reviewed until the 3rd or 4th meeting. Not sure why it was delayed, but s/he got accepted! So don't give up; it doesn't mean you're out yet!

heard nothing. interviewed same day others who heard back did. this really sucks.

MD/MPH & MD only - they didnt specify which i was accepted to and i didnt ask (it could be one or the other, or both), but they are sending emails with more info tomorrow, i will check in the morning and let you know.

I think many people are waiting to hear back from Miami from what I have heard from other applicants, myself included. I was complete in mid-July, so I have been anxiously waiting for a while. I am not saying I think I will definitely get an II, but I think my application is somewhat competitive since I have a few other interview invites. Also, I spoke with some current MS1's who said that a good portion of their class didn't interview until December or later. So, who knows what will happen. Let's not lose hope, though. Good luck :luck:

Definitely true. I know a handful of people at my school with really competitive applications that haven't heard a peep yet (all IS too). Also, I know an MS-1 at UM from my undergrad that didn't get the II last year until maybe January/February, and interviewed later. It seems like Miami takes their time. The wait is definitely killer though (I've been waiting for months as well, not that I'm assuming an II is inevitable 🙂).

Didn't hear anything last night either. I feel like reading these threads for activity is starting to make me unnecessarily anxious. There are so many factors that go in to when people are notified.

PS Guy Montag: Your location as "denim-boiling room"-awesome.

same.. was expecting to hear last night.. looks like its going to be a long day.

Just got an email for alternate list... ugghh

The confusing thing is whether no response might mean you've been rejected, or if they tell you if they decided not to further consider. Do they just hold on to their reject pile until March?

Have there been any MD only acceptances or wait listings??? Seems like everyone so far had been MD/MPH. Might be some hope for the rest of us...

Alternate list. Literally the worst day in my academic life. I have no idea wht I am going to do now.

Did any MD only applicants get accepted??

MD only. Waitlisted too. I thought they accepted like 70% of applicants??

Maybe after having no waitlist movement last year they're reducing the number of applicants they accept per round?

seems odd that there are no offers yet to applicants who applied solely to the MD program, but if you interviewed early MD only and haven't heard yet or been wait-listed, maybe that's a good sign? lets keep our fingers crossed. I received two emails from Dean Weisman this morning, MD only acceptance and MD/MPH acceptance. For those waiting in agony, here is to the next round of acceptances:xf:

It's so subtle, only true fans will recognize the reference. 🙂...👍

You all have great stats, but it seems most of you are OOS. UM does still give preference to IS applicants, and by about 2x the acceptance rate as well. Just hold tight guys :luck:. You could have it worse and be an IS applicant that hasn't even heard back about an interview 🙂. I'm confident many of you will get off of the waitlist.

OOS Applicant 3.81 GPA 33 R MCAT.

Complete on October 3rd. Still no interview invite. Am I freaking out too soon?

Are these stats to low for OOS applicants??

:xf: that it is not too late!!!

My thinking is that with the high number of people getting Alternate Listed; there's going to be a whole new meaning to that status this year unlike past years.

For those who have been accepted for MD only (not MD/MPH): Have you received a confirmation e-mail yet?

Thanks!

Do we know if Miami is receptive to pre-interview updates?
My secondary was complete in late august/early september and I still have to word. Its on of my top choices if not the top. any advice is welcomed 🙂

Do you guys think that the wait-list is more than just, "we liked you, but we want to see what else is out there"? This is more of a general question about waitlists. So what I'm getting at is, if you're OOS, maybe they waitlist you to see just how interested you are, and how willing you are to move to that new city. Then if you accept their offer to be placed on the list, then they can see that you are serious. I know that employers play these kind of games, but I wonder if ad coms do as well.

Anyway, just curious for any thoughts...

I'd say, why not send an update? I sent one post-interview, and they sent me a response saying they'll put it in my file. I realize this is post-interview, but still it seems like they're receptive.

IS, alternate list. I found out yesterday, and was extremely saddened and disappointed because UM was one of my top 3! I think nobody on SDN getting accepted as of yet is an oddly positive sign, and that the school is testing the sincerity and interest of the candidates on the alternate list. So my plan of action is to bombard them with LOIs and updates at the end of the semester, and I suggest others do the same; even if the update or change seems miniscule to you, it matters.

It really did break my heart to not get accepted outright, but everything happens for the best. I am just grateful to have gotten an interview this early in the cycle, and as for the alternate list status, "C'est la Vie."

:luck: I am rooting for all of us.

Accepted yesterday via email...MD only, OOS, interviewed end of September

What are your stats if you don't mind... I think you may be the first on SDN for MD only so far...

+1. roughly average stats for the school, but non-trad with some potentially interesting experiences.

good luck to everyone waiting to hear back! you'll all do great no matter where you go!

what do you mean?

My guess is that with so many people on the Alternate list right now and the fact that they're not going to change the number of interview invites, at the end it's going to be the same in terms of who gets in percentage wise. It's just that they're trying to be careful with acceptances early on so late interviewers have a relatively equal shot at getting in.

BUMP,
Sorry but has anyone heard anything or know when the adcom will be meeting again to hopefully get some of us off the alternate list???

The next date where they will call people for the second round of acceptances will be November 9th based on what I was told at my interview. Not sure if they pull people off the waitlist during that time or if it's just to evaluate the new interviewees.

Just got an email back from Admissions answering a couple of questions of mine, and it looks like those of us who were put on the alternate list won't hear any decision until around May 15th. Based on that, I'd say we're not going to be reevaluated every round of decisions, and we will have to wait until after the initial class allotment is filled before movement happens. Bummer.

If that's the case, that is really disappointing to hear... I am hoping that we all will be finding out next time the committee meets but sounds like they were pretty clear with you. Definitely disappointing position to be in from my top school... I have had other IS acceptances, would it make any difference to inform UM about those, or do they already know, I would definitely take Miami over other schools???
