As a matter of fact, I am not from PR, I also came from the mainland. In addition, SJB has the highest 1st time passing rate for USMLE step 1 of all PR med schools (98%). Again, only school with NBME examinations.

hey I am from mainland, coming from Miami and got a II. i will be interviewing on November 6 at 2pm. Will be flying in from Miami on Tuesday the 5th of November. Hope to see you guys!

Hey guys I am Coming from Miami! I have no clue what to do or how to get there but I just booked my flight to San Juan. I guess I am renting a car and will drive there and back to airport ASAP. I have work stuff so I am like flying in a rush. I am Hispanic, Colombian, non tradition, 26 MCAT: 8,8,10. Undergrad GPA 3.23 and Sciece 3.25. My last four semesters of undergrad I had 3.8 with Dean List. My GPA was low in undergrad cuz during my freshman and sophomore years I didnt know what to do with my life. I also have a masters degree with GPA 3.85 and a post-bac GPA of 3.43 of first year medical courses. I have a lot of work experience as a medical scribe, Trauma and ER tech, paramedic, and health care management as well as volunteering. Feeling excited yet nervous!

Oops, sorry md456, I don't know why, but I could have sworn I read that you were from PR. I apologize.

My application has been verified...Official stats: 3.15 cGPA, 3.4 sGPA and 22 MCAT. Now waiting for some love from SJB!

Greetings, I'm currently MS-I at SJB and want to let you all know that you can PM me/reply if you have any questions regarding this school. Good luck!
I am interviewing at San Juan Bautista on the 7th, could you give me some insight on the interview process; for example, how is it composed, one-on-on or group, what language will it be in?

so how does this grp interview work? Ive never had a grp interview and I can't even picture it…ugh Frustrating!

Everyone gets their turn in answering the same question. It's like a regular interview but everyone gets to hear your answers. It can get a little awkward.

Well i feel like I am ready. I'll be leaving work around 10:30, going to home to change, eat lunch, then head to Caguas. I passed by the school on saturday. Basically the hospital and the school share the same parking lot. It took me around 30 mins from where I live. Anyways, see you guys there!

wow 30 minutes? I am staying at a friend's house who lives by el Recinto de Ciencias Medicas from UPR Dental School so I hope I do not get lost lol. I am flying from Miami into San Juan tonight and I am nervous lol but Ill see you guys there tomorrow!

Has anyone else from Puerto Rico (IS) or OOS has received an invitation for interview from SJB?

Anyone who had their interview today, could you give me some tips about the interview and what to expect. I have my interview tomorrow. Thanks a lot.

Any one have any interview tips? How was the group interview experience? Thanks!

Hey, did any of you fill out the interview feedback? Thanks

I received an II on Dec 11th for January 16th. OOS from Texas.

Does any one know when they stop interviewing?

Hey I have an ii here on January 23rd. My LizzyM score is 64 and I have pretty good EC's. I am a non-Hispanic white male from Brooklyn, NY. My father studied at sjb for 2 years but transferred to UCC in the 80's. How much Spanish is needed for the group interview? Or can every question be answered in English? I am contemplating getting tutored in Spanish because I have never been good conversationally. Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone else!

Hey guys does anyone know if your chances go down if you get an interview for the last interview date they have available, thanks. :)

Also do we get a tour of the school and how many people are being interviewed with you?

From what i have read about the previous years it looks like tomorrow they will start to give out admissions. I guess we'll see. When did you interview?
I just received an email today, so I am able to choose from the first week in February or the 2nd week. The 2nd week would work best for me, for a number of reasons, but I just wanted to know if it would hurt my chances. Everything is so pricey since it's last minute and I would like to have to the best chance possible, but I don't see why they would give acceptance tomorrow if they still have about one month of interviews left..? It seems a little unfair, esp. if there are so many spots open and they are having people go interview when they might not have any spots left by then. The only thing I could think of is maybe since they are giving admissions tomorrow, they already know how many spots they have left to offer and these last 3 weeks of interviews they are going to give are to fill those spots.... :/
Also do you know roughly how many people have been accepted yet or how many spots are left? Thanks for your help.

Most Medical schools will start to accept student even before the medical schools have completed their interviews. This is rolling admissions. Thats why most school recommend applying early. A lot of my friends have already been accepted to medicals schools that are still interviewing students.

I guess Im just a little confused because for Texas they have a period called pre-match where they offer acceptance between November and the end of December for those who have already interviewed and then regular match day is Feb 3rd and that's when they offer spots to fill whatever didnt get filled for pre-match and then it becomes rolling admissions, but they no longer interview during rolling admissions. Interviews end mid Jan and then match happens, which I guess why its confusing to me that they would still interview here during rolling admissions, sorry im not too familiar with it, thanks again.

Yeah i do not know sorry. When i interviewed at SJB in November Mrs Sanchez told me that admissions would start to be given out in January. Im not sure exactly if it will be tomorrow but from what it looks like from previous years it looks like it would be so. Regardless its going to be within the next two weeks because it starts in January. This wait sucks

If you were in my position which date would you choose, first week of Feb or 2nd week, or do you think it really matters in your opinion? Hopefully you get in, ill be rooting for you :)

Honestly which ever fits your schedule better is fine. Mrs Sanchez said they would interview about 180 students for a 60 student class, so your in that 180 student pool. So you have a 33% chance of getting in still.

Oh awesome I didnt know that. So who knows it could be higher depending on how many actually accept and deny the offer. So i might end up with a 50% chance if some people have already gotten offers from other schools in the states. Well i guess Ill have to keep look and see how many people post they got accepted, to see where Im at. If you end up hearing how many people have been accepted etc, let me know please and again best of luck this month for you to get in.

Hey Emmett BROWN,

What the admission committee does is look at the files from all the people they interview from the list the dates Jaymi sent you. For example, if the dates were February 1st, 3rd, and 7th, all the people who interview that day will be evaluated for seats. The person who interview the first doesn't have the upper hand then the person who interview the 7th.

However, if somebody who interviewed in November has a better chance of getting in because more seats are available/rolling admission.

Hope this helps!
