Haha. Congrats on your acceptance. I am waiting on 3 schools in March. My only acceptance is from a school I don't really care for. Such is life. 😉
Thank you!! Hope UNM gives you good news come March 15. Only a month left! But hey congrats on your acceptance! All it takes is one to become a doctor 🙂

Its a private school though. Not looking forward to that ridiculous tuition...

No rolling rejection so far and this is my 2nd time at bat so maybe UNM will have some love for their wayward son! 😉

Anyone know what day UNM sends out their rolling denials each week? I am guessing Tuesday. That is when one of my friends got hers.

Deep breath. It's ok. You interviewed awhile ago I highly doubt you'll be rejected after passing through this many cycles.

Thanks ChemNerd for always calming me down lol. I was just curious. After our private messages I am much more calm. Thanks for all your support!

ChemNerd, please calm me down as well. I am freaking out because I haven't heard back either. BLAHH.

Hello all! I've bee following this thread for a while and decided to join finally. Interviewed mid December and waiting for good news like everyone else! 🙂

Welcome to limbo like the rest of us! :highfive:

Well, seems like I joined at the right time... Just got a call for a 3rd interview with UNM on Thursday. Apparently my two interviewers didn't agree... Anyone hear of this happening before?

Wait what? Is there such a thing? Wow. That's the first. I don't know. I didn't apply so don't be scared or anything like that.

Sent from my iPhone using SDN Mobile.

I have never heard of that... For any school so you better rock your interview on Thursday. They must be highly considering you. Good luck and let us know how it goes

I have in very rare cases. They're trying to give you the benefit of the doubt. One interviewer may have been bias either positively or negatively. Third interview is the tie breaker. Good luck!

It will be ok! I promise! The worst thing they can say is no and then life goes on, right? I mean hopefully the world won't explode... Lol jk 🙂

I guess that is reassuring? Haha

Well I mean there's no use freaking out over something that you no longer have control over. Plan for the worst hope for the best is what I try to live by.

The fact that we made it this far is reassuring. All we can do now is .. like CHEMNERD said.. is hope for the best but prepare for the worst. At least we know we are being highly considered because we haven't received a denial yet. Just keep your faith strong. if it is meant to be it will be.. If not, we pick ourselves up and reapply! Sometimes I have horrible anxiety over this but then I just think if it is meant for me then it will happen!

I mean just think of the THOUSANDS of applicants that don't even get an interview? You guys have all made it this far. You should be proud of yourselves. If there's one thing that I've learned about this cycle it's that getting in is a total crap shoot. A super good friend of mine has a 33 MCAT and a 3.9 GPA, 4 iis and he's heard nothing. Got rejected one place and is either wait-list or rejected at another. My stats are lower than his and I've gotten the same amount of interviews but I've gotten in and he hasn't. I've gotten into higher ranked schools and wait-listed at lower ranked ones. Nothing makes sense!!!

This is how they decide....

Its all part of the journey- we all have a unique road to travel so there is no sense in worrying.

"The older I get the more I realize the less I am in control..."

You forgot the faces of the applicants. Lol.
they have a box with strips of names and then after like 5 volka tonic, they'll pierce whatever strip they picked from the box and then throw it on to the board....lol

You guys are right. : ) I guess it does go to show that numbers don't mean everything... it's a little strange that during undergrad they stress the importance of the numbers. I remember even hearing medical students say that it's all about the MCAT and GPA. :/ I guess high caliber people who didn't get in either did either no or hardly any service/shadowing.

You all are great!!! Helping me maintain my sanity during my last semester of undergrad

Not from NM 😛, 21 will be 22 next weekend. I love working with people and I can't stand desk jobs. I love the intellectual challenges medicine brings, how everything is changing and each case is something different.

Happy early birthday!!! I too love that everything is always changing and that no two cases are exactly the same

Well you see... I just recently got into stained glass as a back up job for when I'm too broke to pay off student loans lol.

Hahahha. I might look into that as well if this thing doesn't work out.

I'm 22, born and raised in NM, but I went out of state for undergrad. I chose medicine because it encompasses everything I look for in a profession (lol vague answer, but I don't feel like re-writing my personal statement). And I am surprised that none of you guys mentioned Breaking Bad as your Plan B, because that is mine in the case I don't make it to medical school (hahahaha).

Happy early birthday Chemnerd : ) 21st is one of the most memorable

Just turned 39. Been a nurse for over 10 yrs and was captain in the Air Force in a previous life. Lived in Asia, Europe, and all over Texas.

Original from Tularosa, went to High School in Alamogordo, and went to New Mexico State for undergrad.

Looking towards medicine cuz I dont like wearin a suit and workin in PJs is totally awesome...

I'm 23, recently engaged, originally from miami FloridaFlorida moved to New Mexico in high school and fell in love with the state! Left for undergrad at the u of a but I basically went home every chance I could get. Silver city is sooo peaceful. I love it there. I wanted a career that I would constantly be learning and making a difference in people's lives. I have always been fascinated with the human body and I love interacting with people. I was a medical scribe and I felt at home whenever I was In The hospital lol

Interview went well I think! He really seemed like he wanted to help the board understand me better. I guess we'll see next month though!

g2472132: 22, I grew up in Colorado (parents from nm) but have been here the past 5 years for undergrad. And medicine cause the body in motion is absolutely fascinating and I want to help other be able to do what they love. 🙂

I am glad it went well. I hope that he can advocate and connivence them that you worth a shot.

Phew... THat is wonderful to hear. I thought of you today. Interviews are over now right? So did they give you any insight into what happened? Did they just want to make sure they got to know you, did one interviewer not write down enough or what. Pretty amazin that the admissions committee was torn on your decision so they asked you to come back one more time!

Thanks for your interest guys! Never felt so supported by strangers lol My interviewer just basically said I had a really good review and an alright one, but that sometimes the differences are due to the interviewers themselves. So, he was providing another perspective. I definitely feel blessed to have had the opportunity to explain myself more! I think there may be some interviews tomorrow but then that's it.

Thank you 🙂 I'm actually exiting my 21st so it's nice to not hear 'oo a fresh one' every time I hand over my ID lol.

I'm not dating a future organic chemistry phd student for no reason 😉
