Having perused SDN (particularly for Emory) beginning with last year's admission cycle, it would seem that in years past, several people even from the limited population of SDN have obtained admittance off of the alternate list (nearly 4-5 each year in 2010-2014). This, to me, would be indicative of the truth of the statement that Emory has admitted "up to 20 students in their final class from the alternate list."
Last year, no SDN member posted that they had been admitted from the alternate list. Having spoke with an Emory Dean, apparently the combination of the financial aid system crashing, in addition to the Ebola fame, had changed the waitlist game.
Speaking with the same Dean only a few days ago, I was told that there are still 240 committed students for 131 spots. He anticipates this will start to drop out as people get their financial aid, as the AMCAS deadline approaches, and continue as people get in off wait lists at other places.
I'm just hoping for a return to the tradition of years past and hope to get a call from June sometime soon. Wishful thinking here, but best of luck to you all!
