Are parents allowed to come to second look?

Not sure, but on a related note: on the Pitt SOM FB page, someone asked whether it was ok to bring the SO. The response was that the day's activities are designed for the applicants/matriculants (and not for guests), but that there were some social gatherings after the structured day(s) which might be appropriate for some mingling with the SO.

Does anyone happened to know if students who interviewed late at Pitt were essentially interviewing for the waitlist? Was anyone know interviewed late November or December get accepted? Thanks!

I interviewed the second week of December and was accepted

Does anyone know when those of us on the first tier waitlist may see some movement?

I called sometime last week and the nice lady who answered my call just said "sometime in the spring." On last year's thread people called early February and were told waitlist movement will start later in the month - sure enough, a couple of people posted about getting accepted off the waitlist on 2/23.

Hey guys! I'm on the first tier waitlist, too! Not as exciting as an acceptance, but better than a rejection... I am looking for some advice about a letter of intent. Should I send it first to my faculty interviewer? To the dean? To the general admissions committee (the email they provide us with)? I'm not sure what is best.

My friend who is current student said to send it to the general admissions email. That's what it says on their website, too.

Hello all! I am 2nd tier WL, and was hoping someone would be able to provide some guidance as to when I should send LOI, and if multiple LOI would be viewed as a highlight or a nuisance by the adcom. From what I've gathered on SDN, I know the adcom is receptive to interest, but nonetheless I just worry that multiple communications would be perceived negatively. Thank you!

I say, if you are really interested in this school, show it. They seem very receptive to letters of interest (specifically stated so during interview day) so imo sending more than one would be perceived positively.

When are you interviewing??
Not sure yet. In March (7th or 9th). When I called last week, Blair had mentioned that if I was offered an interview, it would be for an interview date in March to allow ample time for travel arrangements (I'm across the country). When is Your interview date?

A week from today! Darn, I was looking forward to meeting someone from here. Maybe I still can if things work out for both of us 🙂😉

When do we usually hear back from financial aid?
I think it might be after April 1st. I emailed to ask if I should wait for my parents to get their taxes done or just put in guesstimates for their income and other tax related info and someone in the office told me to wait even though my parents tax appointment is close to the deadline. She indicated that someone who turns their stuff in today versus at the end of the month are essentially the same. My thought is that they wait until the deadline to look at everyone's info.

I was told the same when I called; they don't look at anything until after April 1st

Darn I was hoping they'd tell you when the committee is meeting to discuss the first tier

They did tell me that - the nice lady I talked to said exactly what it says on the portal for first-tier waitlist applicants.

based on last year's thread, it seems like there is some legit movement on the waitlist in mid-late April, after second look. Maybe it'll be different this year, but i'm not sure i would get my hopes up

Actually this years cycle is off schedule from last year since movement started feb 23rd
