Did that make sense? I guess it's boiled down to what all wait-list candidates could be waiting on at this point. Like, were waiting on other candidates to CTE or PTE to a school other than their current one. But doesn't the openings trickle down from the top for the most part?

That’s how i imagined it should work since for the most part people are waiting on a higher tier WL

Yep. Looks like were waiting on a mixed bag of those people as well as those who have not narrowed down to 1 per 4/30

I see... Thank you. what a strange circumstance for some schools to follow the AAMC guidelines and others to not.

I think it's all over the place because it's the first year that AAMC is putting all the enforcement on the schools. I'm sure it will be a lot smoother in the future.

Absolute silence from all of my waitlists after reports of calls from the 1st to the 3rd. Hope quickly fading.
Sorry to hear that but as people get off waitlists at other schools there may be more acceptances trickling in. Hopefully you’re high on the list

@gyngyn
Sorry to bother but..... do you know anything about the movement at Wake Forest?
Sadly, I can no longer see anything.
Because there is no clarity regarding who is likely to matriculate, I don't even know what is happening at my own school!

It sounds like adcoms are just as frustrated and confused as us with some of this

I think some of my wl are not moving yet bc schools don't have enough information to act on to protect from overaccepting. Historically there has already been wl movement from them at this point as a high portion of the class comes from alternates.

Also at least one school is enforcing very early commitment deadlines to protect themselves while others may be just waiting and seeing if applicants withdraw or commit more. Yet if a school doesn't make decisions, that might affect applicants from making decisions and it creates delay for everyone.

I hope schools are strategizing how to organize and prepare to make the future application cycle more efficient, because it seems aamc isn't willing to put itself on the line. Not that I truly know what's going on behind the scenes but it's my speculation for some of my silent programs. I think there does need to be more strict policies to protect schools and applicants and make this less of a headache for everyone

You are correct. Without reliable information, all we can do is wait.

Funny thing. This is some of the best news i have heard in 8 months.

so several people seem to be intepreting his comment as a positive, but i could see that being negative as well. can you explain why you think that is good ? is it a no news is good news type of thing ?

Aamc has paralyzed some of the decision making and it may create a more than usual game of national musical chairs as everyone aims to make the best possible last minute decisions based on individual policies. Maybe that can create some less than usual acceptances compared to previous years as time runs out I'd imagine but this process is crazy.

I think it is good is because silence just means there is minimal/no movement because adcoms are paralyzed due to being in the dark due to lack of info.

Didn’t this happen all because a kid didn’t get into Yale Med School and brought up a lawsuit? And AAMC decided to discontinue the traffic rules?
The schools were sued for their undergraduate early decision programs.

Doubt it tbh. The waitlist pool is generally as impressive, homogenous, and lengthy as the accepted pool.

Soooo... you’re telling me that UCLA still needs time for their waitlist movement? *wink wink*
If anything is messing with UCLA's waitlist management, it is the regrettable and poorly timed loss of Dr. Hall.

If I have to re-apply, would y’all recommend I do AMCAS and AACOMAS this cycle? Or just stick with TMDSAS again?
