Just had my second interview (USUHS). Third is a week from today. I actually might cancel. Not sure.

When’s your etsu interview?

not until 26th nov. with manning how it is in my work center and having to take leave and flying from alaska. it was closest date i can take

@EasyEveryoneWouldDoIt
I actually just withdrew from ETSU. It looks like a great school, but I had a great interview at Cooper, and my interview at USUHS was very positive. I'm in the EMDP2 through USU and GMU, and they do an awesome job of making us very competitive for USUHS, so I'm feeling pretty good about my chances there.

Ha. Yeah, well if I weren't in this program, I'd be much less confident. Obviously it's not a sure thing, but it has a really high success rate at getting into USUHS, which is where I want to go. Just praying about it lol.

Edited for spelling.

He does. I’m super pumped. Waiting for my dodmerb **** to go through is driving me bonkers though. I should hear from my other school that I interviewed at too since they’ve already met on my app. Crazy.

Good luck! I actually felt bad canceling because they’re so nice, but I’m glad you got it!

Right there with you on DODMERB, I had to submit a waiver but it is for something very small, so fingers crossed. Just got my first rejection yesterday which stunk but here is to hoping on 15OCT we get good news to relieve the stress!

Welcome to the R club! Mrs. Wilsnack is super cool and really goes to bat for you during the waiver process. From my conversations with her, if it's something small, I think she'll make it happen. I'm expecting a remedial for my LASIK, so it'd be nice to just get it so I can make my appointment already.

Yep she is awesome! I guess waivers go through two approvals and she emailed me right away once my first approval came through which kind of eased my mind. Here is to hoping that second approval comes soon and then all I have to worry about is the acceptance! lol

Nice. Yeah, but you know how the .mil is. I'd expect it to take weeks, that way if it happens faster, you are pleasantly surprised.

Speaking of taking weeks, how long did it take you to go from "Complete" in dodmets to getting word from dodmerb?

So i entered everything in DODMETS the day it opened for us after all of the problems it was having (I think early september), then had my appointments scheduled for 17SEP and got my first remedial notice on 25SEP, so it all happened pretty fast for me. Also Mrs. Wilsnack emailed me asking if I wanted to submit a waiver, and that same day I already had my first approval back. Hopefully I answered your question.

Damn that’s so fast. I got my approval to go into dodmets and made my appointments that day. Opto was only four days later but I had to wait until sept 25 for physical. Was complete in dodmets on sept 27 but they just submitted my stuff to dodmerb yesterday. Now waiting for them to review it. Probably getting a remedial. It’s taking a while for me.

so I am still waiting on 22 schools. Almost all of them were complete by mid July and DEAD SILENCE. I have a feeling that once October 15th acceptances start rolling in, so will the rejections.

Yeah, I'm regretting spending the time and money on AMCAS applications. though I do feel very good about my chances of prematching at least 1 or 2 TX schools.

I hear you. If I was from Texas I probably wouldn't apply anywhere else. The whole application cycle cost me about 5K (just primary and secondary, not counting travel to interviews, suit, or MCAT)

Looking at your status you went all out! Congrats on the acceptances you have thus far!

Thanks. I figured it was better safe than sorry, but in the end, AMCAS was probably overkill. We will find out hopefully on Nov 15th 😀

Good luck man! At the end of the day no matter what you know you will become a physician!

The remedial thing is crazy to me. I need a waiver for something diagnosed on active duty that didn't affect my status and knowing a little bit of your background, you may get a remedial for something while still on AD. In other news, the stress is starting to build for 15OCT! I am really hoping I get a call from Dr. Saguil bright and early with good news!

Oh yeah I’m definitely going to need a remedial for my lasik. That’s really the only thing I have on there that would need anything. Everything else went very smoothly. I just want to get it done so I can get on with it. I got lasik done 10 years ago, 4 years before I even enlisted.

Reading up on waivers for allowable conditions on AD is stressful. I've collected a few minor injuries and conditions so far that might be disqualifying for a new recruit but are acceptable and almost expected for someone almost half way through their career. Almost makes me question if applying for HSCP/HPSP/USU is worth it down the line, as i imagine the separation physicals and commissioning physicals have the servicemembers giving almost conflicting information to maximize benefits and desirability. Guess we'll see when the time comes.

I'm gobbling up the updates. Hope it works out for you all!

If you're currently AD, you can apply directly to USU and do your physical through DoDMerb. As long as you don't have anything catastrophic, it's fairly straightforward to get a waiver, and the woman who runs the waivers through is awesome.

I'm planning on both applying while AD and submitting my papers to be released around the same time. I want to practice medicine whether the military will have me or not.

Email from USUHS, waiver approved today! Happened a lot faster than I would think it would!

Meanwhile I’m still waiting on dodmerb to finish my review lol. (Almost) nothing in the military is fast.

Glad your waiver got approved. Praying we both get good news on Monday.

LOL agree, that is why I am so shocked. After 8 1/2 years in the Navy this might have been the fastest approval I have ever gotten! And I am right there with ya buddy! Fingers crossed for both of us. I have a friend who is a USU student who had the guts to call Dr. Saguil at 7 AM on traffic day and recommended I do the same. No way! lol

That’s ballsy as ****. I would never do that. I do know someone that called him to ask where his interview is. He’s a student there now lol.

Irony. They just updated my dodmerb and sent me my remedial haha (it’s just the LASIK info form). Progress!

Easy day! Lasik shouldn't be any issue especially after your eye doctors appointment. If that is your only remedial you should be good my friend!

Yeah, my eye doctor appointment went fine. I figured I'd have to do the LASIK remedial, so I contacted the physician's office a few days ago and got the ball rolling.

had interview in ETSU on Tuesday, and EVMS on Wednesday. 20 hours of driving, but i made it. Loved both schools. Good luck to whoever will be interviewing there.

Nice, but it seems these schools that favor military only do so if you're not from TX, lol. Meanwhile, I've gotten more love from TX schools in the form of another II, so guess I can't complain about it 😀
