did Cook require you to submit app manually via email to the coordinator. was the ERAS submission not sufficient?

Could someone confirm receiving interview from the Kansas .... one of the applications selection committee members denied the fact of sending any invites so far
 
I'm not sure how a "confirmation" really would help you tbh. If the person who made up the datapoint was trolling, what's stopping him or another person just confirming the lie? And how could you see through that?

And secondly, the program of course would never tell someone to their face "Yes we gave out interviews and you didn't get one". They are trying to save themselves from having that awkward conversation. That's why they would deny.

I don’t think someone was purposefully lying about having the invitation ... just trying to find out if it might be an internal applicant or maybe an “outstanding” external applicant. Don’t see any reason for an highly ranked official representative from the program to deny sending actual invitations since they always can just simply ignore any request. Also, from the previous residency Match experience programs felt pretty open in confirming either sending just first batch of invites or actually finishing the selection process altogether.

Posting for a friend. Does anyone have a list of fellowship programs that are more willing to accept applicants from an IM residency? Preferably in the South/Midwest

Very very unlikely as IM is not a current co-sponsor of Pain and so IM folks cannot sit for the Pain boards.

ACGME Pain programs want fellows who can become boarded.

That said, some of the unaccredited programs may consider IM. Or Hospice/Palli could be a good fit.

I was thinking the same thing after seeing United is offering 12 month of flight changes now.
Phone/video interviews may make an emergence.

I'm in a weird spot where I got an interview one the top programs that has offered so far....but that's the only one I got, even though I applied to about 7 of the 20 others on there. So I'm guessing lots of those programs are doing rolling interviews and/or have only offered to internal or superstar applicants. I'm not panicking...yet.
 
Stay cool. If you look at the interview candidate tab, most people have ~10-15% hit rate (interview offer per application) at this point. 1 / 7 = 14%. It’s a rough estimate, but stay cool.
 
Rumor on the streets is that Vandy’s GME office is mandating all interviews for the foreseeable future be virtual. As the frenzy and actual prevalence of the virus continues to worsen I suspect more institutions will enact similar policies. I guess it’s necessary but definitely sucks.

I can't speak for Vanderbilt. but at least one other institution on the list of places that has released so far has sent out an email stating they would be doing virtual interviews for their sessions. Several of my colleagues applying for cardiac are encountering the same.
 
Are y’all finding that program coordinators are emailing you directly and not via the ERAS system? Thankfully realized not too late to look for personal email accounts with invites and not just the “noreply@eras” thing. I also received “we got your application” emails through that system, so I was just assuming that would be used for invites.

GME director emailed our hospital house staff and stated they expect the AAMC to formally recommend that all fellowship interviews be conducted virtually. Should occur at some point today.

Will be interesting to see how that pans out and if it takes hold.

Pain seems to be in a unique position in this regard since it’s application/interview process is what, 11 months long? Seems like PD’s could just sit tight for weeks or months to see how this plays out.
