Threads from previous years show august interviwees were notified 10/15 and september was contacted a week later...does anyone who's interviewed remember if they said anything specific as to the timeline this year? All I remember is Dr. Fogerty saying to be patient because they want to take their time building

I interviewed end of August and (I believe) he said we would hear back on 10/15

One thing he also told us was that the committee would keep us updated on a biweekly basis on status, whether it be under further consideration, waitlist, rejection, acceptance, etc.

I interviewed August and Dr Fogerty did say we would hear back on 10/15, unsure for September interviewees what date specifically though but it seems last year's dates are a good estimate

I remember him saying the earliest we could possibly hear back was 10/15, wasn’t sure if that was him saying expect to hear back from us 10/15 or just don’t worry before then haha

BE HONEST, how late is it that I have not submitted my secondary? Too late?
when did you receive your secondary? they have a 30 day turnaround deadline.

Per MSAR, UACOMP interviewed 442 last year. Per UACOMP's admissions tracker for this cycle, they have offered 260 interviews. If you have the $ and are not outside of the 30 day deadline, you should submit if you have competitive stats and think it is a strong mission fit. You are competing for fewer spots at this point, but they will interview through March.

This is the correct analysis. With 5,640 secondary applications received to date, and UACOMP averaging 6,126 apps over the past four years, you are approaching the end but not yet at the end.

This is the email I got:
"Thank you for your interest in the entering class of 2025 at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix.

The Admissions Committee recently met and discussed your application, the results of your Multiple Mini Interview, and letters of recommendation. At this time, the committee is requesting to keep your application active for further consideration. Although this is not the news you likely wanted today, the request is an indication that the committee does consider you to be a strong applicant for our medical school.

The next date by which you can expect an update to your application status is Monday, October 28.

Please note, updates to your application cannot be made unless requested by the Admissions Committee."

+1 OOS waitlist

Current UACOMP student here - just want to offer some clarification bc admin makes it a bit confusing. Receiving an email to keep your app open and on hold is not the waitlist. It means they haven’t reached a decision or your app hasn’t been presented to the board yet for a decision.

There is an actual waitlist but this doesn’t typically happen until spring around the decision deadline

Oh really? So if we were waitlisted it would actually say you are on the waitlist or something? That’s good to hear I guess!

Exactly! So try not to stress too much about on hold emails- they take their time with each student that interviews presenting and making a case for your acceptance!

hi all. i got an II, but the email was not so clear whether the interviews are conducted virtually or in-person. for those of you who already had your interviews (hope they went well!!), did the email say that the interviews are in-person?
note: i already emailed the office and am waiting to hear back. i'm an md/phd applicant.

The interviews are in person

It may be different for you since you're an MD/PHD applicant. My accepted MD/PHD friend last yr got flown out and room/board @ Cincinatti though. I'd check with Phoenix.

I was md/phd too and everyone was at different hotels but ya id check with the schools

do they arrange the visits for oos applicants?

I remember the email had some info about affordable hotels and public transit, so I'm 99% sure they do not. I'm local though so did not fully investigate.

I read a bunch of the UACOMP threads from previous years and in the past they have offered a virtual applicant visit day for those who are unable to attend in person...but I will say that the in person applicant visit day was awesome. It really really gives a feel for the culture, and the students spoke very highly of the staff and the program. They also seemed like normal ass people.

Definitely a bias on my end, especially since this was my #1 and I have not done my virtual interviews yet...but if you're worried about it being "worth it" for OOS, I would definitely say it is and highly recommend the experience if it is within your means and this is a school you are seriously considering!
