Now that previous cycle is over, just wanted to let you all know that this is the most disorganized admissions team and disrespectful to its applicants. Will not reply to emails or phone calls. Interviewed in the fall didn’t hear anything till Feb then put on waitlist. Received email about having high chances to be accepted WITH scholarship in June and then sent rejection letter on the FIIRST day of orientation. So disrespectful to its applicants. They need to do a serious self reflection on how to handle the admissions process. Hope this helps all of you in this cycle.

Received email about having high chances to be accepted WITH scholarship
Sorry that happened. It does sound a bit misleading to mention a scholarship prior to admission. Thanks for the heads up.

Want to second this the worst experience ever kept me in limbo for a year with no communication ridiculous

Dang I'm sorry y'all. Are they usually like this towards OOS applicants or?

Thank you for sharing. Was on the border about applying to this school.
My post was strictly for the admissions team and their process. The school itself you can read posts by people who are attending, The post was meant to make applicants aware and to give feedback to the admission team to become more professional and treat the applicants they interview with more respect.

OOS Secondary received 7/11

@wysdoc
For prompt 2, how different does the different group/culture/idea have to be from our own? For example, I’m Latino, but I didn’t know anything about the Latin-American immigrant experience until I met Latin-American immigrants. Could I talk about this?

Or conversely, would individuals experiencing a specific illness work as a “group”? I’m not sure if they’re looking more for discussion of cultural diversity

Just got sent the link to fill out the secondary for the second time 🙃. Like yes thank you for the reminder lol

Many schools have prompts similar to this, but this one is particularly hard due to that phrasing. "how it impacted you" is so vagueeee

Is the third prompt essentially a reiteration of our personal statement? How much overlap should there be in terms of content? Or should we focus on activities we did not emphasize in the PS?

focus on activities not emphasized in the PS i'd say. because its give. a bigger picture and more info on who you are yk

does any one know what dual degrees they offer? or how to find research projects or labs at this school? i feel like the website is both very informative and says a lot but also says absolutely nothing at the same time.

i could only write about the human dimension thing basically. like i usually like to find a prof doing some kind of research im interested in. but the faculty pages are largely unhelpful, the seton hall page is a loop, and every time i googled someone only their linked in came up

Hackensack website down for anyone else or is it just me?

Mine is still pending too. Don't know why because it said they received my letters a month+ ago
Wake forest or another school was like this too so I'm just assuming they're waiting to process

I didn't realize this school needed Duet and my Casper score has already been sent out. If I take the Duet now, will it be sent to Hackensack? Not exactly sure how the system works

Just got an email saying all requirements were completed and now in holistic review.

I did this as well. After you take the Duet, it will be transmitted to your distribution list within 24 hours 🙂

I decided not to submit my secondary to HMSOM after struggling to find any information about the school on their website. They boast an individualized and open 4th year, but fail to share any specifics regarding what you can actually do with this final year. I even went through the very thick student manual and it was equally as vague. I couldn't find any info about research or anything unique or specific to comment about in their 500-word why us essay. If anyone on admissions sees this, please either remove the why us essay or provide us with info about your school.

so its normal for the portal to say that LORs are "pending review" even tho my committee letter was received on 7/17. It also says that "prerequisite verification" and "application review" is pending.

I submitted secondary on 7/29/24
Yes. It seems that they only started marking those complete today and they're likely doing them in order. The first day the secondary was sent out was 7/15, so they'll start with the people who submitted that day and go from there 🙂
