Yes, I think they want you to directly point out what medical ethics you are referring to. One of my MMI interviewers directly asked me to cite the medical ethics terms as a follow-up to my response.Should I brush up on medical ethics for the MMI portion of the interview?
What do you mean by "cite the medical ethics terms"? Like cite your source? I read UWashington's Ethics in Medicine website, is that what they would want to know?Yes, I think they want you to directly point out what medical ethics you are referring to. Do you mean like what CoolSocks said here, or more so like "oh yeah, what we just discussed is about the ethics of euthanasia" (in reference to a scenario asking about physician assisted suicide)? What do you mean by "cite the medical ethics terms"? That was more so along the lines of what I was expecting from an MMI. Less of citing specific knowledge vs discussing the thought process etc, thanks for adding your experience!I wasnt asked to explain the ethics. I just said what I would do and why I would do it. I may have used words like autonomy and respect but I don't think its something they're explicitly looking for.
Sorry for being kind of unclear, you don't have to do a verbal citation of your source. What I mean is that they want you to mention terms such as "beneficence," "autonomy," etc. What do you mean by "cite the medical ethics terms"? Like cite your source? No worries, thank you for the insight! Sorry to spam everyone, but does anyone know if it is open/closed file or if they reference your secondary? Thank you in advance 🙏Sorry for being kind of unclear, you don't have to do a verbal citation of your source. Hey! I did the MMIs, and they didn’t have anyone cite any terms. The MMIs consisted of scenarios that are related to med ethics; maybe scenarios you would deal with in the classroom or hospital and they ask how you would act in the scenarios with follow up questions. It is now up to you to make a decision and use the 4 med ethics to support your answer. TBH, I never explicitly said the med ethics but my answers reflected it. Example, I wouldn’t use beneficence, but I would say: “I am doing this to keep my patients heath as a priority.” or “we need to do this to uphold our mission and to keep the integrity of the hospital”. Hope that helps!Sorry for being kind of unclear, you don't have to do a verbal citation of your source. What I mean is that they want you to mention terms such as "beneficence," "autonomy," etc.
It is open file and my interviewer says she read carefully into my app & we discussed an experience I talked about in secondary. I would recommend being very familiar with your application materials! No worries, thank you for the insight! What is second look?Anyone have info on when second look will be?
For admitted applicants, most schools have a "second look" day that is in-person and allows prospective students to get to know the campus and surrounding area better! What is second look?
At the interview yesterday they stated there is a virtual “second look” for all campuses simultaneously and then separate second looks in person for each campus. I wouldn’t expect it to be until after the date that the WL starts + allowing time for campus assignments so I’m guessing it’s a while away, but I could be wrong. For admitted applicants, most schools have a "second look" day that is in-person and allows prospective students to get to know the campus and surrounding area better!
Sorry if this question is silly, but do the interviewers for the MMI ask follow-up questions? I assume they do.

Yes they do! Some of my answers simply couldn’t be 5 minutes long (lol) so they’d ask me a different hypothetical relating to the scenario/question or something like that. To me it seemed like they may have had a list of follow up questions but I’m not too sure!
Thank you 🙂Yes they do ask about 1-3 follow up questions and prior to answering the question you get 2 mins to read over and jot down notes.
I guess it won't hurt to ask?Do you think it’s worth contacting admissions if I interviewed mid Jan and haven’t received a decision yet? Do they strictly go in order of interview date? Even those who interviewed weeks after me have already received A or DD and I’m starting to worry I was forgotten about
prob Friday or the following Monday after 3rd Thursday of MarchAnyone know when the next decision date probably is?
At my interview Wednesday they still said the typical “we meet the third week of the month” so should be the same pattern as it has been each month (would be March 21st or 24th probs)Anyone know when the next decision date probably is?
Their website says everyone is considered for merit-based aid. I am wondering, for those that have received their financial aid packages already, what was the process like and how long did it take?does uic give scholarships or aid? does sending a letter of intent decrease my chances of getting those?
I am already a student at UIC, at least for me, they just sent me an email and said you've been selected to receive X scholarship and this is how much you will get every year and that was it. It automatically comes off my tuition bill every semesterTheir website says everyone is considered for merit-based aid. Nice! Do you know how they select those scholarships? I have a 4.0 and high MCAT. Really hoping I don't have to drown in debt after graduating now that IDRs are goneI am already a student at UIC, at least for me, they just sent me an email and said you've been selected to receive X scholarship and this is how much you will get every year and that was it. can i message you?Just assigned to Chicago!
Assuming you checked the portal to see if you missed any communication from them (go to "Status" then select "Communication Status" in case you needed clarification!), I personally would reach out and ask what is going on (very professionally of course haha). It was my understanding that a decision of at least DD would be given to the people who interviewed prior to the release date... I highly doubt it would hurt to ask them for clarification 🙂Do they ever ghost post interview? I interviewed mid Jan and starting to worry
