Just seeing this, but the unspoken fact is KC campus is somewhat superior. For non-academic stuff, there is just more activities on the campus on in KC. For clubs, there are more clubs up in KC, and Joplin campus are excluded from attending KC club activities even if it's virtual. Heard cases where students had to speak up in order for club events to be opened to Joplin students. However, Joplin campus has fewer students and it feels more tight-knit (haven't been to KC campus though) and slower pace of live when you are outside of the campus.
 
Second years got a canvas announcement today that first years are now able to sign up for their pass mentor on canvas. I really loved working with my pass mentor last year and they were really helpful to me. If you are an incoming student I would highly recommend signing up with a pass mentor sooner than later, especially if you don’t have family members in medicine or others who have done this process. Even if you have those resources it’s helpful to get advice on how to approach certain instructors material.
 
for WL do they pull people with similar stats to the ones that withdrew or is it random
 
I have been viewing the GroupMe chat for KC campus and it is filling up. I got an email about a week ago that KC campus waitlist movement will not start until 2 weeks or more. Does anyone have insight into why the GroupMe chat is filling up still? There is quite a lot of members already so I am a bit worried that waitlist spots are limited, or if only a few students have gotten of waitlist? I may be looking into this too much!
 
I keep getting an email thats saying submit your application to KCU thats if we are reapplying next year right and dont have to do anything rn?
 
Really losing hope at this point :/ haven’t heard of any recent waitlist movement. Might just have to move on

Hey wdym by they will start looking at KC campus waitlist in a week or two. I thought they've been looking at the waitlist in general?
 
I know that students who were COM 28 who failed two blocks or one block and failed the remediation are given the opportunity to repeat first year with the new COM 29 cohort. Those students had a deadline to accept a seat in the new class. I’m not sure what that deadline was. They probably are waiting to see how many waitlist seats are available after those students decide if they are repeating a year or dropping out entirely.

But that is just my speculation based on a few friends from my class and what they said.

Hi! This is what they told me on June 16:

“In full transparency, we will not be seeing waitlist movement for Kansas City for probably another two weeks, if not more.”

I received this email which regarded the waitlist survey. I selected Kansas a city as first choice, and also selected I am open to Joplin campus. I wasn’t too sure either if they started or not (or let only a few off waitlist), so I was not sure why the members on KC GroupMe chat keeps going up.

I’m not sure how indicative new members in the groupme is of waitlist movement. Current admitted students control who is let into the chat and when. Also, it could just be that students that were accepted a long time ago are requesting to join the chat now. And students who declined their offer months ago are leaving now as well. Hopefully we hear from someone on sdn that kcu started waitlist movement for kc campus.

Our official Facebook group also has many new members this past week after a long lull of no joining. We also had a long lull of no join requests to the groupme’s until this past week.

In terms of current students controlling it … I can assure you the longest someone has waited is no more than 10 minutes unless it was in the middle of the night. Lol.

I waited over a week to join with my full name and picture so I don’t think that’s the case for everyone! Also I think students are just worried kc is filling up the waitlists spots because of movement in the groupme and Facebook groups and in my opinion they wouldn’t have sent out an email stating they’re not looking at waitlists until this week but filling their spots regardless. Perhaps there’s students who secured a spot for kcu earlier on and we’re rejected by their top school and joining groupchats now!
 
has there been any waitlist movement this week so far? does anyone know how many spots are left versus how many people might be on the waitlist??

We just got flooded with a few join requests simultaneously. Either the link was shared somewhere or the waitlist started moving today

Based on comments above looks like WL! Now we are certain!

Also, sorry it took longer, I should’ve mentioned it would’ve mattered how early in the cycle you requested to join the KC chat for it to be short join times lol.
 
Has anyone been pulled off the waitlist for Kansas City campus yet??? I have yet to hear of someone on SDN that got accepted off Kansas City (only Joplin campus has been mentioned)

Two people got off the waitlist for Kansas city according to GroupMe
 
In the survey sent out yesterday, one of the questions asked whether you’d like to be deferred and offered a guaranteed seat in next year’s class. Does anyone have more information on how this process has worked in previous years or what it generally entails?

Yea i was confused about that too, does that mean wait listed people who didn’t get in would get a spot. That would be pretty cool but ive also never heard of that happening before ahha

I assumed they were referring to their master's program, and if you complete that, then you're in next year, but I'm not sure.
 
Do you guys think KCU will at least send out rejection emails for people on the waitlist this week? Or do they just ghost you if you don’t get accepted and you assume you didn’t get a spot

I called them today, they told me they are planning on sending an update email tomorrow to everyone (possibly stating class is full, but I am assuming). They also told me they just aren’t seeing any movement at all, but we will see what happens.

i got an email saying basically they dont expect much movement and they arent able to offer me a seat
