Submitted! Best of luck to you all, if anybody wants my two cents on how I approached the secondaries just send me a message, would be glad to help or just talk about anything. I know that this is a stressful time for us.

Does anybody have any data on applicants, interviewees, and matriculants? And maybe possibly also what that looks like for early decision applicants?

does anyone know if mercer will review your application file without AAMC preview results? i had to reschedule my preview exam for august due to family circumstances and now i'm worried my application review is going to be much more delayed :/

I don’t believe that they do.

Hi all! I was wondering if anyone else has received an II for ED? I submitted my secondary 7/15 which included my MCAT and PREview. I am anxiously hoping to get an interview and wanted to see if anyone else that had a similar timeline to mine had heard anything! Just trying to ease my anxiety!

Interesting question, you could say something along the lines of, "based on my academic history and MCAT scores, I believe that I am well prepared for the academic challenges that will come with being a medical school student." Some kind of answer that shows that you feel confident in your ability to succeed at MUSM.
Thats probably how I would answer it. Granted, I answered the questions based on having around average to lower stats so my perspective on answering this question was different.

thank you so much! i will definitely say something similar to that and just keep it simple

Hi! Has anyone who applied ED had their interview yet? I wanted to know what types of questions they ask. Also, is it okay to email Mercer SOM and ask what types of questions they ask? I saw this in the virtual interview tips from AAMC but wasn't sure if they meant to ask the school directly or do some digging online.

It was very conversational and I feel like they asked questions specific to my application. In my interview, they asked me about my experiences in rural GA, my family/support system, how I envision my life in 15-20 years, how I feel about working in groups/teams and specific strategies I use when ensuring success when working on a team. The questions came naturally in the conversation, so it seems like the interviews are relatively personalized based on the applicant, your application, and the direction the conversation goes. I am sure it varies depending on the interviewer and their style of interviewing. They seemed to really want to know about my goals and aspirations. This is all based on my own experience, so take that as you will, but I hope it gives ya'll some insight as you prepare for your interviews.

I know that RD interviews start on the 24th, anyone receive an II yet, or know when they start sending?

This is so helpful, thank you so much! I wish the best for you!

Has anyone else received a postcard from Mercer (ED) thanking you for the interview? Is this just part of their process, or maybe a good sign?

Reapplicant here. I think it’s just part of the process. I interviewed here last year and got waitlisted. I also received a postcard.

How does this school compare to MCG?
MCG is a state school. Mercer is not though 99% of the class are Georgia residents.
MCG has higher MCAT/GPA average. Mercer is more Primary Care focus than MCG though MCG give priority to applicants who want to serve in rural Georgia.
MCG has a larger class size and better curriculum in my opinion.
Both are great schools and have great step score and match rate.

Oh yeah, I heard about MCG's new pathway for those interested in serving rural GA. I applied this year and was wondering if that means they'll be more lenient on stats like GPA and MCAT. Considering Mercer has the same mission as the rural pathway, I wonder if they'll take applicants in the 504-510 range.

MCG Regional Clinical Campus Admissions Pathway

Happy first day of fall y'all! 🙂🍂
Hang in there, the first acceptances were posted on SDN on September 27th for last years thread (the last Wednesday of the month), well wishes and best of luck to all of y'all, have a lovely day!

Nobody can tell. They accepted people off waitlist last year with MCAT range 500-510. But it doesn't tell the full story. Someone with MCAT 500 but 5000 Clinical hours and 200 research hours is definitely a better overall candidate than someone with 120 clinical hours and 506 with no research experience. Mercer is somewhat lenient when it comes to those metrics. But I've also seen people with goof scores get rejected by both schools. So there's that.

Mercer isn't a state school? I thought they were since they don’t accept any OOS students.
