Still no secondary for me
I put 7 but in fairness I just worked a lot of part time EMS jobs over the years instead of one job full time. So you're more than fine. How many activities are people putting in for 7? I only really have like 3 activities, one of them having over 3000 hours.
Good question. I never even noticed!Does anyone know why RUSH is capitalized?
second this. struggling to think of something that feels like a big enough deal.are you guys doing anything different for essays 2/2a in terms of a typical adversity/challenge essay? I'm thrown off by them including the "distanced traveled" part - it's making me think whatever I write about has to be more encompassing of long-spanning life challenge/adversity.
I personally did something different because my original challenge essay was a distinct one-event type of thing. For this one, I talked about more of a personal challenge that spanned several years.second this. struggling to think of something that feels like a big enough deal.
I did notFor the direct patient contact activities, should we include the shadowing experience. The question seems worded to have us not include it
I put 7/1/25 since I plan to continue activity till matriculationDoes anyone know what date to put for question 7 that asks about patient care/contact experience if one of the activities is still ongoing? Do you put today's date?
Try logging out, closing the tab, and re-opening your application link and logging in again! I think that solved my problem. Is anyone else's signature date on the "Secondary Application" tab frozen? Mine says 7/21/24, and it won't let me edit before submitting.
I just tried that, and it didn't work It's a gray, frozen box like it's locked. Do you think it will matter that much?Try logging out, closing the tab, and re-opening your application link and logging in again! I think that solved my problem.
If it's only your signature date, then I don't think it would matter as much!I just tried that, and it didn't work It's a gray, frozen box like it's locked. Do you think it will matter that much?
Thank you! Yes, it's just the signature date but I am ~neurotic~ Appreciate you friendIf it's only your signature date, then I don't think it would matter as much!
Mine were marked complete by the time I received my secondary from them, but I submitted them alongside my primary. Considering how holistic RUSH tends to be I wouldn't be surprised if they are going through each one manually. Maybe reach out in a few days if there's no update? Is anyone else waiting for LORs to be marked received? Does this school manually mark them?
I think you are fine for sure, still early augustis it still worth applying here or am I past the “unofficial” period of being on-time?
I think as long as it is your experience working with them, how that broadened your worldview and affected your comprehension of people who differ from you, and what you learned from it moving forward, then that sounds like a good essay to mehey for question 1" RUSH Medical College is located on Chicago’s Near West Side and serves a diverse patient population. We seek to train physicians who can connect with diverse patient populations with whom they may not share a similar background. Tell us about a life experience that has broadened your own world view or enhanced your ability to understand those unlike yourself and what you learned from this experience", would it be ok to talk about working with people experiencing housing insecurity? or is RUSH looking for a racial / cultural backgrounds
following, debating on doing a "why us" or using my diversity/low income essaydoes rush like a why us essay for the optionals
I did more storytelling in my primary W/A entries so for these I was more straightforward and tried to mention things that I did not mention in my W/A entries.for 7, they're not necessarily looking for narratives right as the prompt says "focus on detailing the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities you learned and applied during these experiences. " so it would be reasonable to just write something straight forward about what I did, what I learned, and why this was important but not necessarily input it into a "story" format
My partner, born here in the US, was spoken to and learned Spanish first. He considers English his second language even if its the one he predominantly uses now. I would put Y for this from what you described. In your AMCAS application you identified the language(s) you speak, including English, your proficiency level, and your level of use in your childhood home. If you indicated a language other than English was always spoken, would you also describe English as your second language?
How do I answer this. I was born here but my first language was my own language other than English as a child. Should I put N/A since English is not my second language. Just little confused with this question, it has Y, N and N/A option.
Thank you!My partner, born here in the US, was spoken to and learned Spanish first. He considers English his second language even if its the one he predominantly uses now. I would put Y for this from what you described.
May I ask when your application was complete?+1 II OOS
Of course! Secondary received on 7/26, complete on 8/1.May I ask
May I ask when your application was complete?
Congrats!! If you don’t mind me asking, how service oriented would you say your application is? As in, a thousand plus volunteer hours?+1 II OOS
Thank you and no problem at all My app is very heavily service oriented, over 1000 hours! I also have a lot of research experience.Congrats!! If you don’t mind me asking, how service oriented would you say your application is? As in, a thousand plus volunteer hours?
i always think it depends on how you write about the experience. If you wrote about something in your 300 hours that is 10x more meaningful than someone’s 1000, that matters!is having around 300-400 volunteer hours too little for rush?
+1 II OOS
I had 400 and got a secondary so its really about how you write about your experiences!is having around 300-400 volunteer hours too little for rush?
Two Wednesdays in mid Sept! Can you share what dates were available to sign up for?
My app was verified 8/26 and I got the secondary the same dayi added this school kinda last minute last Tuesday (08/27) and have yet to receive a secondary. should i just lose hope that i probably won't get one? just want some insight into the screening process & how long it took for those who received one
