2024-2025 Rutgers (New Jersey)

Does immediate family member include uncles/aunts? I searched up the definition and according to NJ State it does not. But I am not sure.
No, I believe immediate just means parents or grandparents

Does anyone know how to approach the short response questions in the demographic section? Are they essay style or just explaining our background and connections to NJ? I’m not sure how long they want the responses to be either.
I wrote these in an essay format and kept them under 1500 characters!

anyone who interviewed already have any advice? interviewing this week and am absolutely tweaking
Know your application since your interviewer will ask about specific aspects about it, but don't sound rehearsed and treat it like a conversation! Try to add elements of yourself that's not mentioned anywhere in your app and highlight interesting aspects of yourself. DM me of you have any other specific questions!

Does anyone know what format they're looking for regarding question 4 about our planned activities and time commitments before matriculating? I'm not sure if they want an essay response or just bullet points.

Good luck to all applying!
Interview Feedback:
How did people answer the 1st question? I initially intended on addressing my personal qualities but am wondering whether this question is more about how I fit with the school's mission?

Any calls over the weekend or today? I was sure some of us would hear back by now 🙃

congrats everyone!! for the dean's session, should i prep for interview questions? or is it more casual

i’m not applying here but i accidentally clicked on this thread and people have gotten As already??? what

bump. confused by this because one of the other essay prompts is similar.

@PikachuCatcher since you got an A, any insight on this? 🙂
Yeah sorry, it wasn't on the ED app like guyfieri said, but I applied last year and just talked about my upbringing and any hardships I had that influenced my attitude towards life/the medical process rn

@mangostickyrice @Khazan

I actually answered this on my ED app (wasn't an official secondary prompt - just a prompt under demographics)

I answered this by talking about how, even though adcom may see that I grew up in a town with a good public high school, my parents, who were both immigrants, did not attend college or understand the US college admissions process, and worked blue-collar jobs, did not know of or leverage connections that helped me with college advising, navigating financial aid, or attending pre-collegiate enrichment programs at top institutions like my classmates. I then explained how this taught me to become independent and cultivate self-motivation to seek my own mentors and build a network of those who have similar lived experiences so we can support each other.

Essentially, I treated it as something that may need further explanation in my app that isn't being answered by any of the other prompts. Hope this helps! DM me if you have any other questions 🙂

yeah i guess i’ll do that. i’m just worried because it’s almost august, and i need to start prepping for other schools if njms doesn’t work out.

Has anyone else had a second interview this ED cycle? If you have, have you received an acceptance call yet? Submitted secondaries 7/9, 1st interview 7/15, 2nd interview 7/29. Wondering for how long I should expect to wait for a call.

Has anyone been accepted or deferred in the past week? I interviewed 7/11 and am still waiting to hear back. It seems like the last person who got accepted on this forum was 7/24!

i read on last year’s sdn that it could take up to a month to hear back depending on when your interviewer submits their feedback. i’m just going to email dean heinrich on monday and see what he says

Please help us learn more about you and your lived experiences by sharing insight/background information that you feel is important or that has influenced you, your educational path/journey, access to opportunities, etc.:

Would it be bad If I left this question blank as it was on demographics section and just realized I missed it as looks like is not mandatory, but either does not say optional also.
