2024-2025 LSU - New Orleans

Does anyone know how likely it is to get accepted after an interview vs. get an NFA? And is the main factor in deciding if someone gets accepted or NFA based on the interview or stats?
According to MSAR, LSU-NO interviewed 533 students and last year and 195 of them matriculated. Given that most matriculants were NFA'd at first, it's probably more likely to get NFA'd following the interview. Those applicants who do get acceptances right away are likely stellar and have acceptances all over the country, which would explain why there's so much waitlist movement (NFA acceptances) after April 30th.

There is no way to know. As someone who interviewed last year and did not get in, I can offer you some insight. Last year, I got an interview late in the cycle- ultimately getting two NFA emails prior to my rejection letter. The last week of February is when I received my "advocacy meeting decision", during which they decided to keep me NFA (this is the last meeting prior to the final meeting in April). LSU has consistently told me "the majority of students who are eventually accepted into LSU SOM receive their notifications of acceptance after a subsequent review by the committee". So with that being said, it seems more likely for most to get accepted after being NFA.

Also, I set up a post rejection meeting with a tenured member of the admissions committee to see what went wrong on my end. I was told that all of my interviews went very well and this was not an aspect of my application that needed work. So like bds504 said, it seems you are only likely to get accepted immediately after an interview if you are HIGHLY competitive and your stats are off the charts. BUT, I also have a very close friend who attended LSU SOM NO and she had average numbers but did get accepted 2 weeks after her interview. So again... this is just my experience and what I know. No one knows what is discussed in those meetings but them.

Its been said before in this thread. If you interview, you are already ahead of the curve. All you can do is put your best self forward on interview day. The rest is out of our hands. Always keep the faith, and never give up! Best of luck to all!

Does anyone know how long it takes to see your acceptances in AMCAS? Like how do you pay the deposit and commit to attending a school?

When choose your medical school tool opens which I think next week, you’ll see it. You can commit starting then.as for deposit, LSU NOLA doesn’t require one to hold your seat so that’s set.

Does anyone know what % of the class usually gets filled after the NFA meeting?

Anyone going to the pre-med day tomorrow morning? I was NFA in December, so do you guys think I should go? Thoughts???

If you were NFA’d, when the committee meets even if they don’t make a decision will they let you know you were NFA’d again?

Congrats again to the A’s so far!! Does anyone know if all decisions are sent simultaneously? Or are they sort of staggered

2 weeks after your interview? bc it's been like 3 months for me
I believe they meant 2 weeks after the NFA meeting. I was reading threads from previous years and I also saw something similar mentioned about them sending decisions within 2 weeks of the meeting.

It also seems like it may be taking them longer this cycle to return back decisions after the Feb NFA meeting than in previous years. Last year it seemed like they had the meeting on Feb 21st and students heard back by the 23rd. I’m not sure why this may be the case. It does suck to go another weekend with no news/updates but I suppose that’s life lol. Regardless, I pray there are still more A’s to come for all of us who are still waiting! It’s not over yet!

IS A yesterday! NFA 12/16. Re-applicant

As a re-applicant from last year and someone who was NFA'd multiple times last year...
1. Yes the committee will always let you know if you were NFA'd again at the most recent meeting. I'm pretty sure they report to you any time your application is discussed.
2. Last year, the A's did not all go at once. I know it's impossible - but try not to assume anything until you actually hear from them.
3. Updates are not sent based on your interview date; it is based on the committees scheduled meetings. So give 2 weeks after the committee meeting for an update. (The last meeting for us was 2/14)

Lastly, I just want to encourage everyone to keep faith and not lose hope. I had to hang onto hope a year longer than I wanted to, but it all worked out in the end. This process is insane on the psyche, so make sure y'all are taking care of yourselves.

Congrats to all the A's and best of luck for the A's to come!

This is more so directed at anyone else who interviewed in February: do you guys remember if they said they are meeting at the end of the month for those who interviewed in Feb or if they wait until the next big meeting in April that they mentioned?

I don’t think they ever mentioned anything about it

NFA again today. Anyone know when the next meeting is?
same here after NFA 2/3. no idea, I know they said they have another large advocacy meeting in April but I believe we can still be accepted at any time per the email 🤷🏼‍♀️

sigh +1 NFA again after NFA 11/26. no surprise at this point after that wait lol. For others who were NFA’d more than once, do you all have an idea/guess as to why? Or better yet, do you all feel that there may be certain aspects of your app/how your II went that may be causing them to arrive at this decision again? For me personally I feel like my mcat score is holding me back. Just wanted to know if others felt the same
