I do have an interview there in just over a month. Never been before though. Starting to think if it is where I want to be though, seeing what a problem hurricanes can be. I dont want to get half way through med school and have my school demolished. But i must keep with all schools i applied to to make sure that i do get accepted somewhere.

I am interviewing next monday. I was feeling the same way. I wonder if they can brew up a hurricane by then? We'll see how the interview goes.
It's probably nothing to worry about.

Don't worry about hurricanes. Anywhere that's worth living can have a natural disaster at any time. And trust me, it's worth it; I love living in S. Fla! Besides, even if you discount natural disasters, there's always terrorism which can strike anywhere. Let me know how your interviews go...especially you, MISPARAS, since mine's just 4 days after yours!

Dallas TX is a pretty safe place to live. To bad you have to be a genious to go to UT Southwestern.

I submitted it online on 8/29/05, sent the signed form in 8/30/05 and received an email on 9/01/05.

I interviewed there last week. It was fantastic. The facilities are top notch, no really, you could probably visit every med school in the US and not find a nicer place. Ft. Lauderdale was ok., though Hurricane Ophilia was creeping near by. The dean was great and very motivating however I found the interview to be a little intimidating. They asked me about everything and they try to play the good cop/bad cop game. Check out the post I just placed on Nova on the interview feedback. It will give you more info. (just posted it today) Anyway, just enjoy it. I am expecting to hear from them within the next week. Let me know if you need specifics. Good luck. It is a great school, definiately in my top 3.

Don't let the hurricanes influence your perception of NSU. I'm in my first year and I've never looked back on my decision to come here. I had a bad experience too with Hurricane Katrina but like said in a previous reply natural disasters, terrorism, accidents can happen anywhere.
NSU is a great place to learn, with great students, great weather 90% of the time, great opportunities...yada yada. If any of you have any specific questions about NSU feel free to email me.

Well, my interview today went very well. The school was awesome and they didn't pick me apart like I heard they sometimes do. The only down side of the trip is that my flight is supposed to leave tommorow and it'll be right in the middle of a friggin hurricane!! I'll let everyone know how these storms are and if it affects my view of the area. Other than that, everything has been cool. I'll post feedback in a bit, so all may check it out.
