Should I list being invited to an honors section of Physics 2 as one of the top students in Physics 1 as an Award/Honor? I received an official letter for this from the department. Also, my chemistry professor explicitly told me that I was the highest grade in his class. Can I list this as well? I feel like these distinguish me better more than an "A" in the classes will.

I think getting a rec letter is more appropriate. Or lump it with your other awards/honors if you must, but I wouldn't list it in its own category.

if it were me, i would not list it. if you did well in a class, ask for a rec letter, which would say how smart you are. there's no need to say the same thing again, plus it's first in a class, not phi beta kappa. either mention it lumped with other rewards or skip it, and write about how compassionate you are volunteering, or express interest in med by shadowing etc
