When you say "next Friday" do you mean Friday, October 2nd? I was under the impression Thursday, October 1st was the first day the admissions committee would meet, and Friday was the first we'd hear. Sorry, I kinda had a mild MI last night when I heard someone got accepted so early and my status hadn't changed. I feel better that other applicants with good numbers have no change either. Guess I'll call Monday? We'll see

I Also got the impression they wouldn't meet until next week. What an unpredictable process. Honestly, I didn't believe it until I called them.

Hey Roberie, first congrats!!!!! I guess there is the possibility that the rest of us got waitlisted or rejected, but I'm still holding out hope!

I guess I will call on Monday, perhaps they havent gotten through all the apps that interviewed. Guess I'll just have to tough out the weekend.

Is this your first acceptance? Did you get super hammered when you found out?😀

I interviewed last week too and was under the impression it would be at least 2 weeks.. congrats Roberie how exciting! you mustve knocked their socks off ...you baked them muffins didnt you? haha.

That is weird, and almost a bit disconcerting. I would be devastated if they had somehow made a mistake and accepted me prematurely. Oh well, they confirmed over the phone, so everything must be good.

I interviewed 9/24 and they told us they would be meeting 'sometime next week', which we've discovered is thursday, and to be expecting word back from them within the week after that.

I'm pretty much at the average all around.

3.5 gpa (science/non)
29 MCAT

I did, however, feel like the interview could not possibly have gone any better.

I had very similar stats(30, 3.5) and got no such love from TUCOM, not even close. 😍
Should have applied to AZCOM. What's the available interview date, anyone knows?

I would say the first thing to find out is why you are on a pre-interview hold. KCOM was nice enough to e-mail me their reason for a pre-interview hold--waiting for my BioChem grade. If I really wanted to go there, then I really do not think a letter of intent would make them budge on my hold.

From what I have gathered on the forums, a LOI is most effective when someone is placed on a wait list after an interview.

Anything is worth a shot. Hopefully someone else has some more insight.

It's prob just because they're booked until that date. When I was invited to interview 2 weeks ago, the first available date was November 6th.. At schools, if you get an interview,, you get an interview and can schedule the for the next available date. I do not think the later date is a reflection that you're a weak applicant! 🙂

To give you some perspective, I also received an interview invite from nycom on the same date as azcom and people who were invited to interview at nycom last week were already scheduling into January as well. So the date you gave seems about right.

Wow that's scary! I am still waiting for my D.O. letter to get there. He seems to be taking his time. Hopefully they like my stats/secondary essays enough to get me in to interview.

From what I've researched about this, you can use a letter to reiterate that you are highly interested in their school and what specifically makes you a good fit. It's also a great opportuinty to update the adcom on any changes, esp if you have additional clinical or volunteering experiences since you sent in your primary. Just keep it short and sweet and hit on those things.

I agree that it is probably more common to send it when you are waitlisted, but if you have strengthened your weaker points, it might be helpful to let admissions know.

AZCOM is definitely rolling admissions, so get your stuff in now and quickly. They make decisions every week and do not have a quota or a limit, so no, there is no such a restriction as far as I know.

Does anybody know whether AZCOM has a sim lab for the med students similar to DMU's? I went into this process thinking patient simulator mannequins were a standard educational tool these days. However, AZCOM didn't show us anything of the sort, therefore I doubt they have one. Anyone know otherwise?

I interviewed just on Monday, the 28th, and did not think they met until Friday to make decisions. What a pleasant surprise!

You sure? The posted link was for the optometry catalogue. I did hear mention of a dental sim lab, but I'm sure that bears no resemblance to what the medical students would need. Same for optometry.

Well, the committee meets tomorrow afternoon to look at the first round of interviewees (well, all us regular kids who didn't get the muffin memo- btw congrats to you guys who got accepted). I'm leaving for my LECOM-E interview and won't be home till later in the weekend. Good luck to you all, and please post if you have status changes. For those of you that are checking online, you could always just call them...the admissions people are very friendly and if they have made a decision they will tell you over the phone.

I have a checklist too. Asks for Matriculation Agreement, Transcripts, etc. Also, under Acceptance Deposit my status changed to my info being processed and to check back tomm.

Great school, outstanding facilities. But I think my love is going to be given to Nova.

Accepted as well. Of all the times I visualized my first acceptance I never would have never thought I'd be in a McDonalds somewhere between Cleveland and Erie. I checked my status on my cell, yelled a lot, and picked up my girl friend and carried her around. This will be the best weekend ever. I will call tomorrow just to verify, but congrats to everyone. I'm gonna cry a lot, then go to my LECOM interview in 8 hours. This process is so humbling. 😀
