Did anyone else get an email saying you could transfer your application at no cost to their pharmacy school? It says this email is outside of the interview waitlist status but idk if it means anything...

My friend got that email and immediately withdrew. The audacity of the school to assume one would switch up from wanting to be a doctor to a pharmacist is absurd.

Yea it was so jarring. I cannot understand why they would send something like that

Does anyone know what the clinical rotation sites are for AZCOM? Specifically in Chicago and how many students get placed there?

OOS II received after being on the interview waitlist for months. Will be declining the invitation.

Hey guys! 3rd year at MWU here. I just wanted to pop by and offer to answer any questions you might have. Also, if anyone has a discord for the incoming class and wouldn't mind dropping the link here, I'd be happy to jump in there to answer questions as well. Best of luck to all of you still waiting and making decisions!

Does AZCOM do in-house exams or NBME?

Does AZCOM do in-house exams or NBME?
The exams during 1st and 2nd year are in house exams. That being said, most of our instructors are also question writers for COMLEX, so our exams are largely board style questions. Especially as you progress later into 1st year (they take it a little easier early on). The content is very boards relevant, unlike the concerns I've heard at other schools where people feel like they are studying for school and boards separately. Lastly, instructors are very open to feedback on exams and routinely give points back if a large percent of the class misses it or it wasn't covered well in class.

For 3rd and 4th year, all of the shelf exams are NBOME, except for Critical Care and Surgical Critical Care, which are in house as they do not have associated NBOME exams.

Hi! Can any current students comment on the attendance policies? How much attendance is required throughout the week? If I potentially needed to be away for a day or two during the semester, is that possible? Thank you!

Most lectures are not mandatory. There's typically between 1 and 3 hours of mandatory attendance each day, depending on what is going on (tests, small groups, OMM, Clinical Ed, Dissection, etc.). As for being gone a day or two here or there, it depends entirely on what the reason is, how long you need to be gone, and whether it's on a test day. Because you will have 1-3 tests a week, it's challenging to miss tests. But some things are more flexible. You can reach out to the instructors when you need to miss something to get approval and work with them on any make-up work. Generally, the more notice you can provide, the better your outcome will be.

Also, just so you're aware, AZCOM operates on a quarter system. 10 weeks of class and tests, 1 finals week, 1 week off, rinse and repeat.

Does anyone know if there's a groupme for accepted students?

Hey yall! Does anyone know what the interview format is like? I gather its suppose to be ~30 minutes of an open file, but any other general insight would be appreciated !

When I interviewed it was 30 minutes with two interviewers at one time, open format, and all they had access to was your personal statement. It could have changed since then as that was almost 4 years ago now. But overall it was very relaxed. They have some questions prepared to ask based off your material, but the conversation can flow naturally rather than just being your typical question and answer interview. I loved my interview day and it was one of the big reasons I chose to attend MWU.

I interviewed in March and this is accurate. At least for me, the questions were very standard - nothing caught me too off guard. Very relaxed and at times conversational but still structured with questions planned in advance. Practice common interview questions.
