The accepted student checklist is now there for me when i checked the portal. Interviewed on 2/1.

Wow that was worth the wait!!!!!!

Interviewed 1/22, checklist appeared today at 7:30(or 5:30 for you Az folks)

This is my first post on here so I thought I'd make it a good one... I got the acceptance today. I was deciding between TUCOM and AZCOM, but as I am already a student in the MA program at Midwestern, it was a no brainer which school I would choose. Good luck to everyone else and I can't wait to meet those of this years class!

If anyone has any questions about the school or the surrounding area please just let me know! I would be happy to answer them to the best of my ability.

Congrats on the acceptances everybody! Can't wait to start school with ya'll in August.

just got the checklist too! interviewed 1/25 and loved the school!

I interviewed on 1/26 and got accepted today as well! Definitely great news. Which person were you Xyphoid?

for those of you who have gotten recent interview invites (past 2 weeks or so) when were you complete?

Anyone else who interviewed on 1/26 get their acceptance yet?

Yes, I checked the student portal and saw that I was accepted! I will definitely be attending AZCOM in the fall! Look forward to meeting all of you.

I was the one with glasses from glendale, I was also the first one called in to interview after the presentation... I don't know if that helps, ha ha.

Just cancelled my interview for 02/25. Congrats to everyone who was accepted!!!😀

I was first group, but I ended up eating lunch with people in the second.

well maybe we met then...i cant remember faces from that day very well, i guess my mind was elsewhere haha but congrats to both you texas guys from 1/25 and congrats to everyone else for getting their acceptances!

Hey! I just checked the portal today too and I got accepted! 🙂 Congrats to everyone!!! I interviewed 2/1... anyone else from that day?

Wish search function was working.

However, did anyone else get a "Hold pending possible future interview invitation" letter? Is there any real movement on this or just a delayed rejection?

Thanks!

I'm in the same situation... Wondering the same thing.
But guessing this late in the game, it's more than likely to become a rejection...but I am still hoping it doesn't. I sent additional LORs...it wasn't a big deal cause they were justing on Interfolio...and I am finishing up a letter expressing further interest to the school... Some suggested that last year people who did an SMP there kept calling and going in person to the office... which clearly I can't just go there since I live on the other side of the country... and I would rather write a letter so they have something tangible... but perhaps someone could give us some insights whether this is a hopeless situation or not.

Yes, I have confirmed that many of the SMP students got pre-interview waitlists, only to hear back until April and May.

I will say this and I hope this makes it as clear as possible: the letter itself is not a rejection, but it might as well be one if you do not intend to do anything about it. Send that letter of intent and/or extra transcripts, make calls, visit, etc. You have to be proactive or else it will end here.

This is exactly what happened to me with VCOM last year and after I received my acceptances, I stopped contacting VCOM and it ended as predicted: no interview, no notices.

AZCOM might just be figuring things out, but if you really want to go here or at least have a shot, you'll have to show interest and make yourself known, constantly. Don't expect anything more from the school because there will be plenty of people who give them love once a week like I suggested and they'll be the ones making the trip down here.

Good luck to you all and I hope it works out. The game is far from over, so keep it up.

Thanks for the great info!

I interviewed on 2/1 and got accepted also!!!! 😀

Hey ID, I noticed from your previous posts that you were in last year's thread too. Congrats on the acceptance! I applaud your determination to come back and make it happen.

Thank you! Last year, I sent in EVERYTHING way late and basically interviewed for a waitlist spot (I didn't know they were full at the time I interviewed). This year, I was done by October and scheduled the interview for February. I'm just so relieved now!!!!!

That's good to hear. It's funny that you mention it, since there is a apply early thread in pre-osteo. It's always better to apply early, no matter the program.

By the way, if you guys are a little concerned, the applications for AZCOM's SMP should be opening up. I'd look into that for a backup in the event this doesn't work out. Don't lose hope if you're on the interview waitlist. Just keep them updated and you will hear something.

I was the guy from Utah who was joking about how the cafeteria should be open longer. Excited about the acceptance just waiting on MD schools, also interviewing at KCUMB this week then I will be set to make the big decision.

I got the "you're on hold. the committee will look at your file again for interview invites. this is a good thing. blah blah blah." is this really a good thing? do many people get invites after this email? Is there anyone I can contact to show interest since I am OSS.

This is Flushot's response to this frequent question:

Hope it's of some use and best of luck to you!

Hey xyphoid you got in well done man, I was sitting next to you during the presentation and chatted with ya a lot that day. I was alex from napa ca, you got in? Well done man ill be seeing ya there in the fall

I just submitted the supplemental app. Is it extremely late or are they still offering interview invitations?
Thanks.
I am actually just barely submitting mine today and was also wondering if it's too late. I know the deadline is 3/1, but I've read from so many people who have applied such a long time ago...I've also read that there are those who are even scheduled for interviews in April! If anyone knows for sure if the class is filled and if it's not too late that would be very helpful. Thanks!

Thank Random for bumping up my earlier response. I also got a PM asking specifically about what I mean to call admissions (both admissions) and what to say/do. Here's my lengthy response, with the poster being anonymous of course:

There are in fact two numbers at AZCOM: one for general admissions and one for the AZCOM department itself. General admissions controls admissions for every doctorate program and relays it to the proper department.

If you plan on calling them weekly, I'd alternate between the two. As for things to talk about, it will be up to you. Some things are bigger than others (new letters, transcripts, etc.) while most of the calls will be confirming if they have received such materials and what you can do to improve your situation. If anything, just ask to talk to someone about your situation. Odds are they'll tell you the same thing they told you last week.

The point of this is to make yourself known in the sea of applications. It seems like common sense and it really is, but I will admit it is a little imposing and a pain to do this. When I was doing this, I was afraid for a moment that they'd be tired of my nagging and torch my application. But, trust me: they like it when you show interest and dedication.

Do your best to find reasons to call and spread them out accordingly. Talk to different people each time if you can and if you really don't want to talk, at least send frequent emails. This is the only real tangible thing you can do pre-interview while on hold and I don't know how much clearer I can make this.

To be honest, I didn't think this would be the biggest question I received about AZCOM. I actually counted the number of PMs and posts based purely on this question and it comes out to 44.

I have no doubt that next year will be similar, but I do enjoy helping out anyone curious about the school. I will always be around and don't be afraid to ask a question, but hopefully you can take a minute and see if I've come close to addressing it or if you have a specific question about your particular situation, feel free.

While not completely accurate anymore since a slew of acceptances went out this past week, when I interviewed on 1/25, an admissions rep told us that the 2014 Class of 250 currently had 140-160 students in it. I'd be willing to predict this number is more along the 160-180 range now, but, that's purely pulling a number out of nowhere for my part. Main point being, the class shouldn't be completely filled already.

thank you! although i feel late in the game, I hope I can at least get an interview. How long did it take them to get back to you about an interview?

To be honest, I can't really recall that far back anymore. All I really remember was that after I went complete, it was well within a couple of weeks (and I was submitting right at the start of the peak of the cycle) and I got the interview invite the day after I called to check on my status. That being said, I definitely would say that if you've been complete for about a week with no news, don't be shy to call Admissions to "check" on the status of your application. They probably won't have anything to tell you that you don't already know, but, you'll be fresher in their minds when it comes time to start handing out the next round of interview invites. Also, if you're out-of-state, I think it probably helps show more sincerity and interest in wanting to go to the school and that you're not bothered by the distance and that you did not just apply there because you used the "shotgun" approach.

I heard back from them within a week. If you have competitive numbers then you should have no problem getting an interview, and should hear from them soon. Just do yourself a favor and have something else to focus on instead of worrying if your gonna get an interview by checking your email 2400 times a day. If its gonna happen, it will happen. Good luck.

Can anyone who has already interviewed tell me about what time their interview day was over? I'm scheduled to interview 2/22 and I'm supposed to be to work at 3:30 and need to know if I have to ask for the day off. Thanks

My interview day was over at 1:30 pm. Assuming yours follows the same schedule you should be fine (if you work nearby, of course).

this might be a lame question for current students...BUT, do most students find themselves incessantly using a computer in lectures and for studying purposes, or do some mainly stick to textbooks and hand written notes. I'm debating whether to get a new computer that could better keep up with the foreseeable demands of studying.

Also, do students use iTouches, droids, etc. for accessing textbook info?

I used a tablet PC for the first couple months of my first year. I would import my notes into one note and write on them directly with my tablet.

I found that using a computer was more of a burden than anything else (and I'm a techie that worked as a computer tech for like 10 years before med school). You just have WAYYYY too many pages of notes to always be importing them and you'll want to write on them directly (most people do anyway).

Just withdrew my application and interview for April 12th. So there is an interview slot open. Good luck to everyone.

I submitted my secondary a week ago and called today. They told me Im waitlisted for an interview. Kinda bummed. But they did say that they are interviewing un til May and that the class is half full. So here's hoping for us.

I know it is late notice, but I am about to cancel my Feb. 19th interview and withdraw my application.

Grab it quick if you can. Good luck to everyone!👍

I applied with my 2ndaries four weeks ago and just got offered my interview....May 5th though. Is it possible to get accepted into the 2015 class if the 2014 class is full?

I don't know if they'll do that or not, but, if you're concerned about the interview date being so late, just check the portal a couple of times a day at least, and there's bound to be an opening arise with people withdrawing their applications and stuff.

I don't think they offer such a position. However, if you read just above you, there are two new open slots for both this month and April.

I do know that Touro-NV has a early acceptance option for 3 waitlisters for the following cycle. I remember this specifically in their touring process. I do not believe AZCOM has a similar policy.

Oh cool, I didn't realize new interview dates would come up as people cancelled. I'll keep checking for sure. Thanks for the advice. Do you guys know if it's usually full by May interviews?

I know there's a thread to the interview questions but I can't find it anymore. Does someone have a link?? Please 🙂
