Ok this needs settling,

Does a backround check email from AMCAS always/have to preceed an acceptance from medical school? This is a growing concern in a lot of different threads and I think a vote or census needs to be taken.

What do YOU think?

No. It can be requested if you were waitlisted (and released once you're accepted...if that happens). Don't play into it too much, it's not a big deal or indicator.

Has anyone been accepted without getting one of these?

Yes. I got an acceptance and then received the security screening email well over a month later. It can happen.

Getting one of these emails isn't necessarily a reason to pack up and move, but if I got one prior to getting accepted I would be pretty stoked. Just sayin'.
