Biden Out of Race

Instead of all the self-righteous “what about-ism??”, how about some “intellectual honesty” (and, yes, I pointed out/what-aboutism’ed this same issue 2 pages ago.)??

Republicans don’t like taxes. They have often shouted “Abolish the IRS!”. With that in mind, it’s pretty obvious they would object to 87,000 extra IRS Agents.

Democrats (despite their blather about “We need comprehensive immigration reform!”) seem to think that massive illegal immigration is ok (Ban ICE!! Nobody is illegal!). It’s obvious to everyone else that they have no desire/intention of enforcing the immigration laws that are on the books (We ALL saw what happened from 2017-2020), short of some 3-5 year-long bureaucratic process that also considers whether they have a family/a job/a puppy dog/etc/etc. With THAT in mind, it’s pretty obvious THEY would object to 10,000 extra ICE agents.

Blah, blah, blah….. “Bipartisan immigration reform! Republicans wouldn’t pass it!”

Trump has proven in 6 months, that “bipartisan immigration reform” (read: “amnesty”, NOT “enforcement”) was NOT needed. All that was needed was some folks who were wiiling to ENFORCE the law, rather than IGNORE it.

The real question is, “What happens when another Democrat gets elected??”. Do we let in another 10-20 million?? Come on… give me a NUMBER. How many more folks does the USA have to let in the back door of illegal immigration, in the name of cheap labor, or “asylum”, or “guilt”?? 50 million?? 100 million??

How many IRS agents have Republicans threatened to “doxx”?? Are assaults on IRS agents up, over the last few years?? Hmmm…

I can be honest about how Republicans feel about taxes. Why can’t some of you, at least, be honest about how you feel about illegal immigration????
I'm completely in favor of enforcing immigration laws, starting with aggressively going after the people and companies who hire illegal labor.

Set up a very permissive work visa program with background checks. Track and tax those workers. Perhaps include some kind of path to citizenship for some fraction of them.

Deport anyone here illegally.

And again, I'm not opposed to ICE enforcing the law. I'm opposed to them being masked anonymous enforcers. Doxxing? Weak excuse.

Speaking of IRS and government. Have you tried calling the IRS recently. I just spent 2 hours this morning. Hung up twice after long waits. Finally got to live agent. It's very frustrating. Just for a new eftps PIN that they accidentally deleted is what the agent told me. That's why I couldn't pay them.

Government at its finest. And it's for the business not my personal side in case you try to suggest IRS direct pay (which itself had some issues the day before the tax filing deadline.

I’m sure ICE service is far superior and less error prone than the IRS.

I'm sure these things are unrelated.

"The Internal Revenue Service is preparing to shed as much as 50 percent of its staff, according to four people familiar with the matter, a significant cut that could jeopardize the agency’s ability to complete its basic mission of collecting taxes.

The I.R.S. started the Trump administration with roughly 100,000 employees. It has already laid off more than 7,000 people who had recently joined the agency and had fewer job protections, and thousands more have taken Elon Musk’s offer to resign. Those cuts, as well as normal attrition, are expected to count toward the Trump administration’s goal of halving the number of people who work at the I.R.S., two of the people said."

I’ve been self employed for probably half of my career spanning bush, Obama, trump, Biden

Always issues with the irs wait times. Just matter how many bodies you throw at the Feds. It just becomes more inefficient with more govt employees

Got a buddy at VA who claims they do tons of GI procedures. Like 50 a day. You would think that’s great right? Except they run to 8 GI rooms lol

Vs a private gu center I cover 3 rooms 60 GI procedures from 6a-2pm. That’s efficiency.

8 crnas and 3 anesthesia docs and 8 GI docs. Like one case and hour. That’s your govt efficiency when you hire more irs agents or GI docs and more anesthesia.

The irs complaining they need more employees is like me complaining that my route to work takes too long when I set it to “avoid highways and tolls”

It’s the biggest self inflicted bureaucracy in history ffs

It doesnt become more efficient with less employees.

It just takes twice as long

Sure.

Or do you suggest that we essentially “encourage” the other 7 billion folks on Planet Earth, to come here, illegally?

Traffic offenses are “minor/remote” offenses, yet EVERY municipal/county/state police force in the nation enforces them. If everyone ignores them, because nobody enforces them, does that become a “serious” problem, or is it still a “minor offense”??
But they don’t get all the speeders, do they? They get the really egregiously violating ones. If they pulled them all over, highway traffic would grind to a halt, and along with it, economic productivity. It would require enormous number as a police officers and resources., needlessly vilify large numbers of people that are mostly doing the right thing, save for this one little thing they are caught doing, and it would create tremendous economic turmoil.

sound familiar?

Or people can work 1/4 as hard with twice the employees.
So..your hypothesis is that when the IRS cuts staff, it will improve turnaround time?

Can you cite some examples of when firing staff led to improved efficiency?

Bad luck for you?

Once again, I'll point out that the available evidence suggests increasing IRS funding reduced wait times and improved satisfaction for the majority of respondents.

Not the same at all. But ok

It depends if they are w2 and can't be fired. If they can get fired, efficiency improves greatly. I'm sure you have worked at some type of Federal government hospital during your training or professional career. Have you ever seen a plastic surgeon consistently do 3 carpal tunnels over a 8 hour period? Like month after month. On a good day, you may squeeze 4 carpal tunnels from him. He ain't gonna any faster. He's riding it out to the end of his career. They are sloths.

So you wanna to add 2 more plastic surgeons do the same 8-10 carpal tunnels a private surgeon can do?

I don't know how any one could call it efficient?

Or just outsource it to private contractors the government work. That may actually be the cheaper way to do things.

So you are correct in that if you fire w2 govt workers, they aren't magically gonna to work any faster. They won't. They will just claim more mistakes can be made if they rush their jobs. So get rid of their jobs and hire contractors. 1/2 the defense work is outside contractors? Right?

Do they say “We’re ignoring any speeder going less than 90??”. Nope. They pop some folks doing 10 over, or folks who fail to signal, to “reinforce” to the other 99% of drivers, that “the law is the law”.

Or do you think that most folks drive the speed limit and use their turn signals , simply because they’re “good drivers”, or “concerned citizens”????🙄

And your opinion is that all traffic violations should be prosecuted fully? Nobody should get away with any of them ever under any circumstances? Kid gonna **** the carseat, pull that ****er over. Wife was in a car accident don't know if she's alive, send him to jail.

I also have some bad news--despite this enforcement strategy I have never seen good adherence to traffic laws literally anywhere I have lived all over the country so maybe we do need millions more traffic cops to achieve your traffic Utopia.

So..your hypothesis is that when the IRS cuts staff, it will improve turnaround time?

It’s actually common enough that there is a name for it: Addition by subtraction.
I’ve seen several instances where firing a couple of horrible employees led to improved efficiency and a huge bump in morale.

So which is it? You keep saying opposite things

Is that what the IRS is doing? Certainly doesnt sound like they are firing a couple bad apples. Sounds like they are firing a massive chunk of the work force.

So, i say again, how is this expected to improve service?

I’m saying get rid of w2 govt employees and hire independent companies like the Feds hire lockeeed and Boeing for outside defense work.

What could go wrong..

Unbelievable
Well, its the Republicans..so unfortunately.. entirely believable.

Given their track record for absolute bonkers conspiracy theories..i am shocked that anyone with half a brain would believe them in regards to the economy, immigration, gun control, etc

This part too….WTAF

“Kerrville City Manager Dalton Rice also said Monday that local help hotlines have received “fake calls” from scammers reaching out to the families of the children missing, saying, “We have your kids, pay me money.”

This is a serious question that I would like a serious answer.

When Obama deported many times more illegals than DJT, how did he catch them? Did most voluntarily showed up to be deported or did most get caught/deported by ICE or a similar agency?

Logic tells me that they most likely got caught/deported by ICE. If so, where were all of the MSM, social media, democratic politicians when this was happening many folds more during Obama?

Is this selective outrage or were there similar outrage from the left when Obama deported many times more people?

Also, during the millions that were deported, did we have an economic collapse due to less day laborers? Did we have inflation due to increased labor costs?

Finally, if there were some new craze where people wanted to blast docs on SM and potentially kill them/their families. You would be an idiot to go to work without a mask. I hate masks and didn't even wear it all the time at work during peek covid, but I sure would be wearing it 100% of the time at work.

The anesthesia forum has people defending ICE and masking. These are doctors falling for this bull****. Education is no shield and it seems a lot of people want a dictatorship.
lol, dictatorship. Still waiting to see one of these new secret police stormtroopers. I’ll let ya know when my neighborhood gets door knocking and when we need to drive our barbecues and play dates underground

Even with masks we are much easier to find than an individual ICE agent. Heck, I have my own website that the hospital puts up for every doctor.

Why don't you go find where Obama found the people he deported and report back to the class. Because I definitely don't recall raids at small businesses or getting people while checking in with an immigration judge.

Tom homan has repeatedly said that sanctuary cities are no cooperating with ice when it comes to bringing immigrant criminals to them. Best I can tell he’s not just lying when he says that. There are specific policies in these cities that disallow them from holding prisoners after release to be arrested by ICE.

I believe that it would be easier to deport criminals if the cities holding them made it easier to do so.

Arresting people at worksites by targeting workers specifically or arresting people at worksites while targeting employers that hire them. Tomato, tomahto

Chalk this up as another nothing burger? This party has gone off the rails.

Not surprised.

People will get pissed when masked police raid their homes to arrest their parents and grandparents who have been here for 20 years.

And all these Texans have assault weapons too (yay Republicans)

The difference is, maga will storm the Capitol over a debunked conspiracy theory championed by maga leaders.

Wow.

I think you just justified shooting law enforcement. For doing their job in a manner you don’t like?

Like I said party is off the rails.

If the Democratic Party supports violence I’ll find someone else to vote for. See how that works? I wish conservatives would’ve made similar choices with regard to Trump, who brings in crazies like MTG, Loomer, or Kandiss Taylor who believe liberals are manipulating clouds and causing floods. At the same time Trump wants to dismantle FEMA and DOGE tore through the NWS. My guess is your area would benefit quite a bit currently from FEMA support and a robust NWS.

Too bad hundreds of billions of American taxpayer dollars have been shifted to increase masked goon service. I forget - were workplace raids and shopping Home Depot for illegals what Trump campaigned on? I thought it was all the drug dealers, gang members, and violent criminals we needed to rid the country of? Not people laying low, working hard, and trying to make an honest living.

Dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge.

It sounds very much right now that the party that is calling for its constituents to bleed and making coordinated attacks on law enforcement might be more of a threat to democracy than the MAGA nut jobs focused on Epstein and weather control conspiracies.

Right. This attack is Trumps fault. It’s very telling the left can’t just come out and condemn such violence.

“You won’t believe what people are saying on twitter about Taylor swift and Travis kelce!”

Why post this as if it’s representative of anything? News flash, there are stupid people out there
Well, yeah, but these are your elected representatives that are actively trying to change policy based on these beliefs, not just some nut job on the Internet.

Did you miss the part where I said I don’t support violence and if that is the Dem party line I’d find someone else to vote for? I’m not ducking or dodging anything. And MTG is a sitting congresswoman. Not some looney lefty out there telling people they need to bleed.

I mean, I don't think that's a tomato/tomahto. One is specifically going to workplaces to get illegal immigrants. The other is going after people who employ illegal immigrants and picking up any said immigrants who are there at the time.

The second, to my mind, is both preferable and more effective in terms of immigration policy as a whole.

Also, intent matters.

FWIW I don't really care about this topic on the whole.

I don’t either particularly. I think illegal immigration depresses wages overall which is why I favor more deportations. If an economy only functions well due to that then it’s not built on solid foundation and needs a reset in that regard.

It mildly influences my voting patterns.

There is a grassroots push within the Democratic Party for anti—Trump violence. Wonder who you are going to vote for?

You said a lot things. None of them were “this is bad”.
I didn't say it was good. I didn't say it was tall or short, either.

I didnt say alot of things. I was never asked if i thought it was good or bad. But this isn't grade school, so our posts should be a little more intellectually stimulating than "violence is bad mmmmkay"

But i dont think anyone on this forum advocates or supports violence. So if makes you feel better...i dont support violence.

I said i wasnt surprised. Thats because a harsh anti immigration crackdown will often incite violence, as it has historically. Given the general knowledge level on this forum, i assumed that most would be aware that arresting parents and grandparents, in a state where everyone is heavily armed, would incite violence. Maybe i assumed wrong?

Grassroots? You mean some random people?

Are they actively running for office? Have support of the democratic party? Are they the front runners?

Seems that the MAGA folks are way ahead in the crazy race based on the last election. Dems dont tend to support radical conspiracy driven politicians. Thats a maga trait.

Armed agents of the state accept a certain amount of risk when they take the job. Police, military, ICE, etc.

Concealing their identity should be an extraordinary thing, limited and specific instances like undercover work.

I have no objection to ICE deporting people who are here illegally. (I wish there was similar zeal for prosecuting the people who hire illegal labor.)

I object to the anonymous nature of what they're doing. And anyone who is actually concerned about small government, and a government that answers to the people it serves, should also object.

There is unavoidable occupational risk to being a person who enforces the will of the state. They should be paid appropriately for that risk and they should accept it. Wearing masks when interacting with the public they defend is over the line and unacceptable.

There really isn't anything else to factor in.

Give me a break. How many times has the left called out the right here for failure to speak out against things even tangentially related to events like this?

There certainly have been instances of posters advocating and or supporting violence.

But you are still dancing around the issue. You have to go a step further than saying violence is bad. Are the violent protests bad? Do you think attacks like this are justified? Do you defend the push from the left to step up and be “willing to bleed” to push back against this administration? Because all your post really said is well this is to be expected, and then sprinkle in some J6 nonsense for effect.
