BU March Decisions?

Last year there was no waitlist movement because more people chose to come to BUSM than they anticipated. They were over by like 20? 30? people. I talked to Dr. Broitman about that and he said he thought it was because BU received a bump in the US News and Report rankings (only because of an increase in grant funding for BU med school for the year).

I don't think that will happen again this year. Cause usually there is waitlist movement. I'm going to contact my academic advisor and see what I can find what the waitlist movement has been like historically. I'll get back to you guys if I find out anything.

They just notified those waitlists within the past few hours.... I wonder if they did acceptances first.. then waitlists.. and the rejections last.... this is getting nerve-wrecking.
 
well someone got a rejection prior to the waitlist notifications.

I thought Witzburg said that not many ppl get waitlisted? What is the deal? Are we ALL among the "small group of candidates" on the waitlist?

Serious... how big is this small group haha... lets say 1000 interviews... would you say 100 is small??

I think the waitlist is a whole lot bigger than what he makes it out to be. 🙄 seriously, i think a good portion of people who've posted here are waitlisted. i'm guessing 100.

GL everyone, hope theres huge movement for all you. You guys have defintely really eased me through this, so I applaud and thank you all.

I still have not heard, and maybe not hearing is good?

Question to the waitlisters.... I thought the wait list was unranked... but someone posted that their interviewer said they were high waitlist... somethings shaddy... 🙄

hey golfer, i also thought the waitlist was unranked until my interviewer mentioned it in the email. i'm confused as well.😕

I'm starting to get anxious about these waitlists...
 
To all those on the waitlist, don't be too down in the dumps. My friends who were GMSers and are now med students at BUSM were all, with the exception of only a few, were accepted off the wait list. Last year was an anomaly.

Hang in.

That being said, I have heard only complete silence. Whether that's good or not, I don't know. It's now 4:37 on the west coast and I have not heard or recieved anything.

I like the sending out of good "vibes" notion. We'll see.

PS, for those non GMSers, good luck also. No joke. If any of you go to BU, do away with the GMSers vs. non-GMSers antagonism. It's complete poop.
 
Good luck to everyone still waiting. The waitlist is supposedly small so if you havent heard yet that may be good.
 
rejected at ~330pm EST. I interviewed on the first day. Not a big deal, going somewhere else... g/luck everyone

I second this. I have a very good feeling that those who haven't heard anything are in. Hang in there!
 
someone please explain to me what the heck GMS is. whats the big issue distinguishing who is GMSer or non-GMSer? and what with the supposed 20-person GMS quota?

says it unranked but the idea of an unranked waitlist is really suspect. There have to be people with priority, even if they say otherwise.

Thanks for the congrats. I hope everyone on the waitlist gets in! And I'm sorry for y'all that get the boot. I've certainly been there and it sucks. I guess there's nothing I can say that will make it any better, but I sympathize. Later kids. I gotta go out.

Sheesh. So much for the "small pool of wait listers." I fear I must add my self to the waitlist stack too. Got it via email at 3:03pm, western time. I dunno guys. I'd like to have some hope for us wait listers, but seriously, there seem like a lot of us . . . and we're just a small portion of the total pop. *sighs* Good luck to those who haven't heard, and congrats again to those who made it!
