C/O 2019 Applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If this many people are playing, it must be entertaining. It sounds kinda cool. I'd be down to check it out when the next sign up comes up.

I was skeptical at first but it's honestly SO. MUCH. FUN. Even as clueless as I am (just ask the others lol), it's a really great game to play, and you get to know a lot of the older members as well.
uh-oh. did i just join a cult and not realize it? 😵
Of course not... :ninja:

as long as you guys aren't like the dothraki and make me eat a horse heart or something, i'm ok with being in this cult. super nerd pre-vet/vet students + one centralized virtual location = fun times

I just realized I complained about how I feel like I don't have time to work on my app...but I use all my free time posting on SDN and playing WW, so I guess I shouldn't be talking 😛

Yay, someone normal! I was reading those posts and like...geez you people work fast. I didn't even start my personal statement until 2 or 3 weeks at most before the application was due

You'll fit in quite nicely.

Sometimes I really think the "What is a WW game" thread that was posted just before the first noob game should be stickied at the top of the forum. Especially because Cyndia had that monster post that explained everything very nicely.

No, we're a peaceful cult. We just kill each other repeatedly, and the mods make up creative ways to write about our deaths. But don't worry, no one has been killed with a horse heart yet.

Hi everyone! I'm thinking of applying to Kansas State and was wondering if anyone knew if they accept repeated courses. I couldn't find anything on the website. Thanks!

Hi guys. Pretty much done with my app here as well. Few tweaks to the explanation statement and just waiting on LoRs and transcripts and I'm done. I'm taking physics right now so gotta wait till that is done to send this school's transcripts (It was the CC I did my first 3 years at so might as well lump it together). Then I need biochem for Fall... and the class is already full. I'm doing it through "Open University" so I need the teacher to sign a piece of paper on the first day of class in order for me to get in. Nail biter, I tell ya. If he doesn't sign it, I'm screwed =( My final list is: Western, Oregon, Colorado, Penn, SGU and Wisconsin. Had to pick wisely thanks to horrid GPA, but hoping my other stats hold weight! Good luck out there =)

Well there's a first for everything. Now how to include that in my next game...

^YES! GoT, GoT, GoT!
Or, alternatively, LOTR, LOTR, LOTR!!!!

:biglove: Daaawwwww. I am excited to be a "real" SDNer!

Wow you guys are so far ahead of where I was last year. I think I scrapped my original app essay like three or four times before I finally got something close to what I wanted... in like, late August haha.

So I need to sign up for physics 1 this fall, so that I can take physics 2 in the spring, so you have to have all your pre-reqs completed by the end of spring prior to matriculation. Of course all the sections are full already, and there's still 2 months left before the semester begins. All my hard work this cycle will be for nothing if I don't get into physics this fall. Kinda stressed!

Can you try to get special permission to take the class by contacting the professor? Let them know you need it for vet school, they might be willing to make an exception. Otherwise try to get yourself on a waitlist and hope for the best!

I contacted one of the professors a couple weeks ago, because I was afraid there would be no seats left by the time I can register and he just referred me to someone else, who I'm pretty sure doesn't exist because I can't get in touch with them.
Maybe once the semester starts he will remember me and make an exception? Yeah I'm hoping someone drops the first week and I can take ther spot.

Is there another college nearby where you could take it at, or perhaps take it online if you can't get in?

There is athens technical college, I haven't checked there yet. UGA does not accept online courses for pre-reqs. 🙁

I can also check Gwinnett Tech.... I hadn't thought of tech colleges. Good advice!

Definitely check them out, I know of a few classmates who did physics at a tech college and the vet school accepted it just fine (though it wouldn't hurt to look at the schools' websites to make sure).

Every school works their procedure differently, but don't you have a faculty advisor for the students in your major/college that you could talk to? For my undergrad that's the person I would've needed to see to get forced into a class.

I am considered a "Transfer student" and had to sign up for a dumb orientation, and cannot do anything until orientation, which is Aug 13..... UGH.

Try going to the office of the physics department. That's how I got registered for public speaking two weeks after the term started, and after the registration deadline. The Communications chair (communications is not my major, by the way) had their assistant call a couple professors directly until they could find a section of public speaking that I could join. Tell them that you really, really need this class because you're applying to vet school starting next fall. They're more likely to let you in if they know that you need it this term in order to move forward with your post-graduation education.

I took part of the physics sequence at community college, and it was accepted fine. But you'd want to check with UGA because some schools don't like CC classes.

Go in person to the physics department. Maybe they could at least put you on a list for "unofficially save this person a seat until August 13th" even if they can't register you early. Department chairs can override quite a few registration requirements, though.

I'm still in Pensacola, but I could try calling the physics department and seeing where that gets me. I applied to a local CC too just in case.

So, does anybody know if schools will get your application earlier if it is submitted like perhaps say now?

They won't. VMCAS verification process doesn't start until September, so earliest apps will get sent to schools is probably a couple weeks after that.

I figured as much, still it feels good to be done with that part...now on to the supplemental apps!
