My vet did hers at 2am the day it was due last year!! I thought I was the only one 🙂

Nope. I reminded him like a couple of weeks, and then again a couple of days before it was due, and he assured me he'd get it done but it was a bit nerve wracking. I only got 3 LORs and he was the only DVM so I woulda been totally SOL

I remember a friend of mine's eLOR didn't submit his until about an hour or so until the deadline... talk about nerve wracking!

I too was going to do this, but the submission date is in the e-mail they get from VMCAS
Didn't know that. I'm still going to have them submit early, or at least encourage them to submit it early.

I wish I was on top of things like you guys! So far I've thought about starting my personal statement, and that's as far as I've gotten.
Just wait til you actually start it. Grrrrrrrr..

Last year one of my evaluators submitted it around 6pm on the day it was due... and the deadline was 7am or something, so it was almost 12 hours late. Luckily the school still accepted that evaluation. That was sure a stressful day though.

😱 There's so much awesome stuff out west! The plethora of national parks is just to die for... and driving for hours through places like Wyoming without seeing more than 3 or so other cars passing the other way, no one ahead of you & no one behind, and no buildings anywhere except the occasional rest area. It's kinda eerie, but also awe inspiring when you're used to the crowded east. Not to mention incredible picturesque scenes visible right from the highway. Now I've got myself longing for another national park road trip...

Yay Wyoming!!! Big sky! Just don't drive on I-80...sooo boring

Started opening up my application again and looking into supplementals and school-specific check lists.... I'm getting anxious again >.<

Try to do it in small amounts. I tried to do it all and kept getting anxious. I'm done with VMCAS so I'm limiting myself to one supplemental app per week. This way I get to focus on just one school per week and it really isn't too much if you do it this way. I do, however, keep my cello and violin on standby for an emergency jam session should I start to feel anxious though. 😛

Hey, so does anybody know what is required for VMCVM's supplemental application?
The site says it has to be done in one sitting and I just want to make sure I have everything ready before I do it.

last year when I did it it was pretty simple, its not like its some long essay or anything. Its some description of experience hours, and basic information, then like a 500 character statement, or something like htat. Nothing major. Just have a decent summary of your experiences before you do it.

Heeey, does anyone know where I can find that thread of lovely willing readers for personal statements? I have been looking all over and I can't find it 🙁 Muchas gracias!

Hmm Mississippi State recommends sending a picture with their supplemental application, do i send a normal nice picture of myself or do I send one of my photos of myself with wild animals, such as bears or owls. . . decisions decisions.

So, med schools require this a lot...and want a professional looking headshot........ I would lean towards doing that

Although....does anyone else feel perturbed by that.....I mean, really, what good is a photo with an app, other to aide in possible discrimination? I mean, what if a person on an admissions committee just got divorced from their wife, who's a blonde, and subconsciously rated all the blondes they saw lower than everyone else?!

Point out idiots? I dunno. TAMU's app required that, and they assured us you didn't need to go get a professional photo done or anything, just to make sure it's decent and you appear presentable. Her example of silliness was an applicant who once used a photo that was like, them on the beach in a tank top or something super not professional like that.

For Mississippi, I would recommend something a bit more professional to be honest. They also have a very strict dress code at Mississippi. I just went and got a cheap passport-like photo taken. Cost all of maybe $5-10 and I was able to get 4 or 5 of them. Then just cut one out and send it with the application. That is what I did.

I think quite a few vet schools do this. I know I needed one for Penn and might have for Tufts and Glasgow too (can't remember...just remember needing them for at least 2-3 schools I applied to). I think it's just so they can put a face to an application on interview day and have a picture post interview to help remember you by. I know I'm more likely to be like "Ohhh. I remember that person, they are interested in blah medicine and have blah experiences. I think they could bring a lot to the school" if I could actually see an image of the person instead of just a name.

Does anyone know what schools you can defer a year (Specifically UGA, UT, UM, and CSU)? I know you can at tufts and penn (pending a review), and that you cant at auburn. Havent been able to find Georgia, Tennessee, Mizzou, and Colorado State

Mizzou allows you to defer for a year. There was info that addressed this in our orientation materials. It's a petition process and needs to be granted by admissions provided there's a reason they deem worthy.

Ahh nervous to submit my VMCAS application :arghh:. I think it is done.. but I keep looking at it.. too nervous/anxious to hit submit!

Run over it one more time, completely through, addresses, evaluators, etc. Then once you've done your thorough once-over, hit submit.

I agree that is what I did. It's best to just submit it then, unless you will drive yourself crazy. I waited a week after mine was complete because I was paranoid. If you can have someone sit down and run through it with you, that way they can double check your application for you 🙂

I am done with everything except the basic info requiring my address. I'll fill that part out immediately after moving up to Georgia so there is no issue with in-state vs out-of-state. I'm FINALLY at a point where I really like my personal statement (it took 13 drafts and 9-10 sdn ps readers to get to this point). So excited to move next month so that I can finish up and hit submit! 🙂 this is such an exciting experience. 🙂

Everyone's finishing their applications and i'm just sitting here playing video games

Well, if it's done why sit on it when you can get it turned in and focus on other matters....such as how to pay for vet school and those dreaded supplemental applications:hungover:

I haven't even started the supplemental apps. How annoying though, WZ! I did take my GRE this weekend so that is definitely a relief! I made exactly what the average accepted applicant makes at my school of choice, so I'm not taking it again.

UF's is due early September so I figured I would take a look at it. I guess they want our grades in triplicate because they'll have the coursework entered on VMCAS, our transcripts, and their prereqs inventory. And for UTK you have to put in info about your experiences plus coursework. Haven't looked at NCSU or Penn yet.

Taking the GRE tomorrow 🙁
I hate geometry at the moment!

Woo! Congratulation! Its such a relief to send it in! Where all are you applying??

I'm still not sending it in until August 15th at the earliest, waiting until my last day at work so my hours will be accurate. The plan is UF, Penn, UTK, NCSU 🙂

Does anyone know which schools are on probational accreditation?
