California DPT Schools 2021-2022 Cycle

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I emailed CSUN yesterday and received an email this afternoon that stated that they are "still reviewing applicants at this time". I looked back at the waitlist email I received back in 2017 and it looks like they sent out decisions during the last week of January that year. So hopefully they stay on-trend and we'll know this coming week.
Did you have to complete a Kira assessment from them? Cuse I haven’t received anything from them other than the email saying they were doing Kira

Same here!!!
No news from summer cohort, and recently did the fall assessment and nothing again.
I was accepted into the chapman summer cohort mid December, and was removed from the fall application. I accepted it, but will likely drop if I get into csun or mount saint marys.

Just received my acceptance letter from WesternU! I did an interview with them 1/19!
Congrats on ur acceptance🎊 may i ask what questions did they ask u on the interview day, and what was the essay prompt did u receive for the writing portions?

when you sign up for an interview date you agree to their confidentiality statement "By confirming below I agree not to disclose the identity of my interviewers, questions asked of me, and responses made by me." So we shouldn't really ask.

Thank you!
As Mochipoki said, we agreed to not disclose any information. My recommendation on how to prep would be to practice situational questions, the rest of the questions should be personal so just try not to stress and be confident when you are answering.

I'm also accepted into MSMU so I need to compare and see which one out of these two I wanna take until I hear from other universities as well. Hbu?
Congrats! I just toured MSM, and I actually liked it a lot more than USC! I was surprised! Very nice people that really care, and the campus is unique and beautiful too.

As of right now it’s the only school I’ve gotten an offer from so I’m highly considering it! I also got a great vibe of the program from the student QnA
haha i got into saint augstine as well as western U so need to compare as well. My friend is in the western U program and says its amazing the faculty and staff are really supportive! I also got a good vibe from the Q & A about the program. If we accept the admissions decision does that mean we have to go there or if another school reaches out can we just email the admissions office and forfeit our seats if we choose to do so?

I've accepted admission to two schools just so I can save my spot while I decide. I was worried about this two and found blogs saying that it is normal to put down multiple deposits while deciding!

A lot of situational questions. Nothing really different from tell me about yourself, why this program, what are some of your flaws. I think they asked me what PT setting would I struggle in the most & also about interprofessional experiences and why they are important in health care. Some like that. Hope this helps!
?
EDIT: Forgot the second question. I received a question about healthcare and if I agree with universal health care.

For your reading pleasure. May give you some ideas on what to speak about concerning that Universal Healthcare question.

I also emailed CSUN the other day and they responded with this:

"Thank you for your email and interest in our DPT Program. We look forward to reviewing your application.

At this time, the Admissions Committee is still in the process of reviewing applications. Unfortunately, our process is taking longer than anticipated. Decisions will be going out in the upcoming weeks.

Thank you for your patience during this admissions process. "

(Groan) It sounds like the agony is going to continue for quite some time. Thanks so much for updating us all!

I'm stressing about USC!! Still no word from them. The residential program told me I should hear soon, but the stress is killing me. The hybrid program said still under review. (Applied August 15th).

For those who interviewed at Fresno State and Sacramento State how do you think it went? Personally that group interview was hard. Sac state wasn’t bad at all, the Panel that interviewed me was really nice

I did Fresno's and didn't think it was toooo bad, some questions were kinda hard. Felt like I rambled too. I'm glad my group was chill and interviewers were really nice. I had the students before the interviewers so that helped ease nerves a bit

For me it was difficult because it was hard to stay in rhythm. my group was chill and the interviewers, Dr. Ko and Dr. Adame, we’re really friendly as well. I just hope I did enough to earn a spot!

Oh I get that. I had Dr. Ko and Dr. Wubenhorst so I guess they mixed up which interviewers were paired. 2 weeks sounds fast but feels long to wait for a response 😅
What's your top choice?

Yeah that’s interesting actually. I wonder how much of a difference interviews actually make. The director of the program said they overall GPA, and not the pre-req GPA, is their strongest indicator how a student will do in the program.

That's a good sign for me cause GEs bumped my overall gpa lol I listened to her talk on prePT grind's podcast and she made it seem like the interviews do carry decent weight on their decision.
If you were in the morning group, do you remember how many people were there? Cause I remember reading that they interview 150 people but there were only 50 people in the afternoon

I forgot to respond to your earlier question and I don’t necessarily have a top choice, I will go wherever I get in lol. & there were about 60 participants which included professors as well. I do know they had alternative interviews on Friday and the Saturday Q&A wasn’t enforced. Only reason I know is because I originally had a Friday interview. I don’t think they made the Q&A a requirement because students like myself had to leave the Q&A early to interview at Sac State. I’m thinking they probably did interview 150 applicants.

No updates still waiting for CSUF, CSUS, and SDSU.

Waiting on Fresno and SDSU as well. And hoping to get off the high tier waitlist for Long Beach. Hoping to hear from any of those three before my interview with Western on Feb 9

I think we may hear back from SDSU by EOD today, if not then definitely this week. Just a hunch. It's interesting to see you all haven't heard from SDSU yet either - confirms the possibility of my hunch. Also waiting on Chapman to say anything about their fall cohort. I've seen/read some people getting into summer, but not yet fall - I applied for both but was leaning more towards fall to have one last summer of fun.

Any other predictions?

I called SDSU last week and they said committee will be reviewing today and we should hear by the end of this week.

Same. My email has more screen time on my phone than anything 😂
How it goes for me is: wake up super anxious, grab my phone and refresh e-mails/check missed calls, constantly refresh email, sometimes email comes in as I refresh, my heart drops but then it ends up being an advertisement email, refresh again and check forum to see if anyone has heard from said schools. Do it again the next day 😂😂 I just want to hear back at this point lol

The spam emails have been in full FORCE this month while we wait for these decisions. Getting me excited every time.

We hit EOD ya'll. My prediction was off, but from the news in the recent posts of this thread I'll cross my fingers for end of the week

Follow up!
I received a waitlist offer today for the residential program
They also said there is no order, so I guess it's a waiting game.
