Class of 2016....how ya doing?

Wow, losing people already 😱. I don't think we've lost anyone in our class, but we have a really big class (164) so wouldn't notice if someone was missing, but I'm sure word would spread about something like that. Our biggest issues are still seats :laugh:. I love that our class switches seats all the time, I like knowing that if I choose to sit somewhere else for the day then that's fine. There are some that have their seats set and if you take their seat watch out, but for the most part people just shift around and sit somewhere else, it's cool.

Back to studying Anatomy. Our first exam in October 1st (only 8 days away :scared:). On Tuesday we're going over differences between cats and dogs and presenting our projects on the thorax so Tuesday is a pretty chill day, but Thursday we're moving on to the head and neck 😱. I couldn't believe when I read that in the schedule! There is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much to know for the first exam, I think one day for review would be nice, just one day, that's all we're asking. I mean we only had 3 days to dissect the entire thorax! My lab group is awesome though, we have already decided that we will NOT be dissecting the head and neck on Thursday, we will stay after on Tuesday to make it up or make it up at some other time after the exam.

Then on Monday when we have our exam, we have class from 8 AM to 2 PM with just 1 hour lunch break from 12-1, then we have our Anatomy exam from 2-5, I'm worried my brain will be fried before the exam even starts. When we had our first quiz we got 3 hours off before taking it, I thought we'd at least get an hour off before the exam to chill and review, but no.
 
We are back to classes tomorrow. I so enjoyed this break. Now it is time for parasitology, bacteriology, virology, inflammation, and immunity. Should be better than anatomy. 🙂

We're curious as well!!! We were sitting there in silence waiting for our beep to move and Dr. Jeremy just screamed out of nowhere. We all jumped about 4 feet in the air. The last we heard was "you'll find out eventually" :shrug:

No clue. I don't even understand how you could cheat on an anatomy exam. You'd have to creek your neck pretty darn good to even get a small glimpse. Not to mention, how the heck do you know if the person you're cheating off of even knows anything? 🙄
We were also told the person kept doing it even after he yelled. And Dr. Jeremy is a really nice, fun guy. The group before us, he was walking around acting like he was flashing people :laugh: so when we heard HIM get mad and red faced, it was pretty scary. :scared: We're all very anxious to find out :meanie:

I was a lab TA for the human A&P class in my undergrad. We had a girl who wrote things on tape and taped long pieces all over her arm and covered it with a hoodie... In the summer. She also had pieces of paper with bone and muscle in the pocket. I discovered her cheating because she was trying to pull the tape off a slide to see what it was. I went to go get the department head (at my undergrad, you had to have 2 professors approach a suspected cheater. As we called her out into the hall she peeled the tape off her arm and began stuffing it along with the papers from the hoodie pocket down her pants . Yes, I saw her do it. She failed that course and was banned from having a departmental letter of recommendation for medical school. She was a departmental (Biology) favorite and had a 4.0 before that...

I thought so too! I'm really excited that they're going to such great lengths for our sanity, hahaha.

So our White Coat Ceremony was on Friday! Woohoo! I got a white coat with my name and Oregon State University embroidered on it, and also a stethoscope! The most awesome part is that it turns out we didn't pay for them in our tuition somewhere - they were donated by the Oregon Veterinary Medical Association. Yay!

Also, something I really LOVE about my school is that the hospital and the school are in the same, big building. I don't know about most schools, but I know Mizzou and Oklahoma State were separate buildings. But ours is in one building, and there are windows into surgery rooms from halls where we walk to class, and TVs that display what's going on from the surgery (looking down from the lights above the surgery table, I believe). They also have TVs in the anatomy lab where supposedly they show the surgeries, sometimes. It's so cool 😍

I love this too! I've walked past neat stuff going on in surgery, although now they moved all the really cool stuff to the new building and kept the wellness stuff in the academic building.

Ah Thanks 😀 Well just think of it this way, you'll get dentistry next year when I am stuck in orthopedics and soft tissue 😴

Actually, you can put in the whole thing, too. That's what I do. She just deleted one of the brackets. That happens a lot when you paste. Just don't forget to type in the bracket again where it belongs.

I guess not having multiple exams throughout the week has its perks, but that ONE exam is our ENTIRE grade for that class so there is a bit of a trade off. 🙂

Next semester, you'll have no classes during hell weeks. That week before exams to study thing is just ridiculous though.
 
A week off to study 😱, that is awesome 👍, I wish we had just 1 hour break before the Anatomy exam, and one review session. What I would do for a whole week off right now! All us first years are just hoping to survive til October 19th (our last midterm) and then head home for the weekend 😀

I hope so, having the extra time to study does not work well with my procratination, I would probably do better in a curriculum where I don't have as much time to study. The more time I have, the more I procrastinate because why study while you are in class when you have an entire WEEK to study before the exam and you have NO classes....

I was massively cramming for that last exam... I did most of my studying in the 4 days before the exam... Ooops... 😳
