Class of 2016....how ya doing?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Running a mock histology practical for our class right now. Pretty sure I'm going to have the sound of clinking slides in my dreams... lots of studying to do tonight!

I've not been doing awesome on tests, but I know that my study habits have been atrocious (lots of learning everything the night before - histology being an example oi), so it's quite nice to know I can pass without being a particularly good student! Now I just need to aim a bit higher and stay on top of crap. And pay attention in class. (And make it to my morning classes. 🙄)

We have a histo exam Wednesday too!!! 😀

Two midterms, a quiz and a group project due in the next 4 days. No big deal.

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can....

Anyone have good ways to remember bovine and equine foot/limb anatomy? So many tendons and crap.

What I did was draw a "leg" (and I don't mean like a legit leg, just a shape with the correct placement of digits - kind of like those turkeys you made with your hand in kintergaden for Thanksgiving...) and used different colored highlighters for each tendon and drew where it was supposed to start and stop. I'm a pretty visual learner, though, so this may not be as helpful if you aren't.

First midterm tomorrow :scared:. Wish I could just take it now and get it over with. We have a full day of classes then our midterm, wish it were in the morning. Oh well, I feel well prepared and I don't think it's gonna be that bad. It's cell.

Immunology test this morning. then anatomy lab... Torture!

Oh what is that Immunology? You are hurt from the beating I just gave you? You must be into S&M because I just DOMINATED you!

HUZZAH!

:banana::banana::banana:

Had my first histo lecture exam today and I think it went really well! Maybe even some butt whooping🙂

Congrats everyone! Had my first midterm today (cell) and it went pretty well, we already got our grades (there was an answer sheet posted) and I'm well above passing 👍. Super excited, I thought it would be our easiest midterm, and if it is I am :scared: for the others.

Off to study Anatomy now because we have a quiz in that tomorrow.

I feel like infectious went pretty well. BacT I mean. I hope there is partial credit for some things. And damnit if I didn't change anemia (correct) to anaplasmosis (not correct). Boo.

This is me right now thinking about the anatomy exam tomorrow and Thursday:

DVMD: You got this! Show that anatomy exam who's boss...give it a good arse kicking!

Good luck tomorrow and Thursday! You can do it! :xf::xf::xf:

never know where I really fit.... I am class of 2016, but I started a year ago.... hmmmm

anyhow...

Have my first shift in the large animal hospital tonight for one of my classes..... it was an elective I could choose to take.... so I will be the only student on working under the intern and doctors from 7 pm to 1 am.... I probably won't get to do much per say, but it is an emergency and referral hospital so the hope is with this class is I will get to observe & learn a lot especially in regards to equine medicine.... I am pretty stoked about it..... it is more work then the other electives I could have chosen, but I would rather have the hands on....

Overall, I feel that I did really well on the oral anatomy exam. There were two questions that the professor asked that I stumbled over a bit but I got to the answer in the end. Then there was one question where I had the right answer but I was being too "technical". He had asked what occurs in a cow if both obturator nerves are damaged and I told him that the cow would exhibit severe abduction of both hind limbs and he kept asking, "But would would happen to the cow." Me... 😕... severe hind limb abduction. Finally he goes, "So, the cow would collapse." I guess I wasn't expecting him to want something that obvious.. oh well.

No on to part 2 of the exam...

Wanna know the worst grade in the world? An 89 😡
Ok 98/99 sucks too, but an 89?? One effing question!!! Bleh!!!

What about a 79? Or, from personal experience, a 69?

In other words, qwitcherbitchin.

😉 Don't worry. I'm not "one of those people". I'm not saying it was a bad grade, just a frustrating one. I'll qwithmybitchin now.

Totally got an A on my immunology test, and a B on my physiology test. I'm pretty happy about those!

I don't think I could help myself from saying "there would be a very sad cow lying splat on her udders. That is why you do not attach a dystocia calf to a truck and hit the gas," if I were asked that one. Good thing we don't have oral exams.

I like your explanation. Not sure how well the professors would have responded to it, but at least it is accurate. 🙂

Today is my last day of summer. Orientation starts tomorrow! Aak! I should probably be preparing, cleaning, or something... but instead I'm just sitting here in my pajamas. Oh well 😎

I will be sure and update with how it goes tomorrow!

I feel like my brain is going to explode. I'm finding Anatomy so frustrating. I love the class and feel that should equate to a good grade, after all I am motivated and studying a ton, but it just doesn't seem to be working out that way 🙁. We have our first anatomy exam in 2 weeks :scared:

squirrels i feel the same way about anatomy! i really do enjoy lab and love it a lot, but i'm finding it hard to study successfully 🙁

seems that we're in the same boat.... 👎

We got into the abdominal cavity today, and since we have a couple pregnant cadavers, one of the groups did a meta-dissection of one of the puppies... was really neat to follow the umbilical artery. A little sad, though, too. He had fully formed toes and nails.

That makes me think of Juno.

Yeah so.... That was an arse whoopin... and not on my behalf. 🙁
Oh well, at least I'm only paying IS tuition to bomb tests!!!!!!!!!!😀😀

Our professor told us that every question on the exam would be identical to the tests from the past five years. We all studied the last five exams, and maybe 3 questions were on it. 😡
It's over and the class is officially over too so that's awesome 😀

Le sad.. I don't want to take this exam tomorrow. I somewhat liked biochem, but it has been 3 years since I have had any chemistry whatsoever, so you probably wouldn't do too well either..

I took my first semester in 2009 and then the second in 2011, so I'm at least a year out. Everything is at least recognizable, but I don't remember the details.

Who needs details??

Is it a multiple choice exam?

It is actually. I'm not that great at MC though...I end up confusing myself a lot of the time. I like being able to attempt to BS my way through an answer if needed. Or at least I don't think I'm that great since I haven't taken a MC exam in like 4 years. Haha.

I tend to be able to at least narrow down most of the questions to 50/50 when it is MC, so I like MC, I am not very good with words though so short answer questions (like the 6 that are on the exam tomorrow) scare the ****e out of me.
