They're all so wonderfully delicious.

This. 🙂 It's the same with undergrad, I think. I think it's easy to get yourself excited about certain schools without really being aware of what going to that school is actually like. And for all the differences between med schools that we all like to emphasize, the material is all the same so the differences aren't really THAT pronounced. I think the most important thing is finding people in your class that you like and can study with/chill with. Having a good support system is far more important than the other aspects of the school. __________________

Quotes are weird across threads.... sorry.

lol.... for a moment, I though TMS was posting from your account.

Then I started wondering about whether you and TMS had a thing going on that I wasn't aware about.

Misquoting makes much more sense, in hindsight

By the way, I am now the top poster in this c/o 2016 thread.

YES.

Don't worry, my first med school rejection will bring me back down to earth.

First rejection is like first rejection when asking insanely hot upperclasschick to prom: Rejection excpected= who the f*$# cares. You'll be fine without her......🙂

TMS is awesome. She posts from my account whenever she wants. 😀

When you got asked to prom, that first rejection leaves you distraught and delusional.

But man, it would have been nice if she had said yes, eh? 😉

D!# right! Still, the one that did say yes made it all worth it! 😀

Don't get dirty, not what I meant.

Too late.

Just kidding, though. I'm pretty sure I would soil myself if one of my dream schools gave me a call letting me know if I had been accepted, though.

Got asked????? I did all the asking! I got used to rejection along the way. It happens.

Junior year I got asked, I saw how dumb it was and didn't go senior year.

Girls that hate each other, that want to kill each other, "Oh wow Peggy you look so beautiful!" "Thanks Eleanor your dress is gorgeous and I love your hair!"

They will. You will. Seriously, most of the people on SDN are neurotic enough to have done most of the required things to get an acceptance. You'll be fine. SDN probably has the top 10 percent of applicants on it.

High school girls can be vicious.

If we weren't neurotic in some way, we wouldn't be on SDN

Descartes' First Meditation: On the existence of God, and the distinction between the mind and the body.

Locke: Tabula Rasa.

Lockeing at your mdapps.... you'll be fine. You should have applied to more top-tier schools outside of TX, but seriously, I'd be happy to have you as a classmate anywhere, and as a MD colleague anywhere as well. That comment is based more on your posts and your PS than anything else. You will be good. Take a deep breath and prepare for your multiple interview invites.

I would be honored to be your classmate as well 😀

Man, it'll be good to get this out of the way. It would be nice if AMCAS verified my application faster, though. TMDSAS finished in 2 weeks

In order to make this happen, we both have to get into Columbia College of P +S. If you could go ahead and make this happen, that'd be great. Thanks, I appreciate your help. 😀 See you in Manhattan in fall of '12.

Oh, and my GPA is a little low for Columbia P and S, so you do what you have to to get me an interview.... seriously, whatever it is I'll back you up!

Heh, you do have some life experiences that make you stand out in the crowd, though.

I heard Columbia is big on that sort of thing. Me, though, I just a regular old pre-med. We'll see how cookie-cutter the adcoms think I am

I'll make you a deal. I get an interview at P+S, I'll talk about how awesome you are, and how you inspired me to go to medical school. You do the same. Together, we'll be CAPTAIN PLANET and PWON this cycle!!

I know it's bad, but when I was writing my PS, I kept thinking about how easy it would be to write my PS if I was born in an impoverished mountain village to mixed raced URM parents.

All my PS did was remind me how fortunate I was to have the childhood that I did. Adcoms don't want to read about that, though.

Great news everyone! I finished my personal statement!!:soexcited:

Bad news everyone. Its 680 characters over the limit :bang:

Interview tag-team?

I'm down for that. Two people working towards the same goal should accomplish more than an individual, right?

Are we talking about Columbia? Columbia is my dream OOS school and my biggest reach (well outside of Cali schools). Can any of you guys help a brotha out and get me an interview?

The fact that you realize that makes a big difference though. Seriously, I look back on myself ten years ago and realize that I was in no way ready for medical school.... because I thought I understood things I didn't. A fortunate childhood means that you had opportunities. So long as you took advantage of those opportunities and realize that others didn't have them, you'll be fine.
