To any current students or others that have done MMI, is it bad if I spoke for the full 6 minutes? It wasn’t rambling because I just kept saying new ideas that popped into my head but I also am aware that “concise” and “succinct” do not exist in my vocabulary.

I haven’t done any MMI before but I have done a practice. As far as what I’ve been told, you get the full six minutes to respond for however long you need to. If you only take a minute or two you’re fine. If you take the full time, you should still be fine. As long as you got the point across.

I don't think I finished before the 6 min for any of them except maybe 1, maybe 2. As long as things were making sense etc. There were even a few stations I don't think I finished. I still got in (IS) but just to give you some piece of mind.

Also, how heavily is the interview weighed vs the rest of our application (GPA, GRE, experiences, etc)? i.e. 75% interview, 25% everything else or 50/50?

Those of you who did tours and interviews today: when you went through the LA area of the VTH did you have to step on the soapy/sanitizing mat things? I’m trying to decide which of my shoes I want to wear for the tour and don’t want to mess up my nice suede dress shoes.

I’m in state and from what I have heard it’s basically 50/50. You get an application rank (which is GRE quant and verbal, GPA, experience etc...) and then an interview rank (which also includes the writing portion of the GRE) and they tally you rank and base the decision off of that! (I could have been misinformed though!)

Incase no one gets back to you tonight: I know you're asking for this year, but I don't remember last year going through the LA part of the VTH (their VTH is laid out farily differently from WSU). However, I'd wear shoes that can go on the sanitizing mat just in case because that's a biosecurity protocol.

For what it's worth, I know they make members of the public walk on the mats during our annual open house, so would imagine if you are in those areas of the hospital they would likely make you walk on them as well. However, I got in during the last cycle before they started interviews and haven't been on a teaching hospital tour in a few years now, so I would listen to someone with more current information if they have any insight to share.
@danseth

Okay sounds good, thanks everyone! That’s kind of what I assumed but I just wanted to make sure. I’ll probably just wear my all black sneakers during my tours like I did at WSU and change into my nicer shoes later since I have the later interview slot.

Did they have a place to put belongings? Eg. coat, shoes etc..

Yes! There is actually a couple of places - there is a coat check/bag drop where you check in and, if you choose not to utilize that area, you will have a room before the interviews to leave everything.

For those who interviewed: when are we expecting to hear back? I apparently missed that in the excitement

I don’t remember them telling us but apparently in the parent information session they said February but weren’t very specific lol

Also I’d just like to put this out there - if you are out of state and get waitlisted (which last year was everyone who didn’t get an initial offer) it is NOT the end of the world. I know several people in my class who were originally waitlisted and I think it moves quite a bit. It can be difficult not obsessing about it because the list is unranked and you don’t know how far down you are but just try and stay positive! There’s a girl in my class who got called off the waitlist in August two weeks before school started so anything can happen.

Going off of the last post, April15th is the national deadline for accepting those first admission offers, and CSU starts sending offers to waitlisted students within a day or two. Just so you all know 🙂

On my application checklist it is saying "

Awaiting Prov Rqmt" does this have something to do with my pre-reqs? I am going to complete them this semester

Congrats, y’all! This is super duper exciting! And yes, please don’t lost hope if you’re waitlisted - like half our class was, especially OOS!

I literally cried and called everyone before even thinking to check this and update you guys!

OOS accepted as well!!

Congrats to everyone else, WE DID IT!

woo hoo!!! So happy for you!!! We did it!!! Also, like I am so curious if I met you or saw you at the interview, lol.

Congrats to you too!!

Did you interview on Saturday or Sunday? I was on Sunday, my tour was at 8am starting in the AZ building and I was in the green pod for the 2pm interview. I guess that's as much info as I can really give right now hahah but that might narrow down whether any of you guys might have seen me!

I interviewed on Sunday as well but my check in time was at 3:15 so my tour was at 10, I think? I can’t even remember what pod I was in and I lost my little name tag thingy. lol. But maybe we did see each other and just didn’t know! Lol. Anyways, still SUPER CONGRATS!!! We are going to be Vets!!!!

Really? No deposit need to hold the seat ? I am still worry !

Yes we are!!

If it helps at all, I was wearing a charcoal herringbone blazer and I have brown hair with a green accent panel in it. My hair is the most recognizable part of me I guess haha. Possible we might’ve seen each other at the lunch!

Thanks! How about housing? In campus housing for first year?

On my interview day, a lot of the ambassadors were saying they open a roommate search thing particularly for veterinary students that you can find roommates.

There isn’t on campus housing for graduate students (unless they allow grads to live in the Aggie Village apartments but I’m not sure).

CSU also has this normal roommate search thing and a list of the apartments around the city and the different amenities. It’s on their off campus life website or something like that.

Keep in mind, Fort Collins has this stupid ordinance called “U+2” where only 3 unrelated people can live somewhere together (other than apartments that do individual leases for some reason) which makes it hard to find places and split them for a decent cost and has all of the amentites you might want (a lot of the small houses around Fort Collins don’t have in-unit washer/dryer which personally annoys me). ASCSU is currently trying to get it changed to me+3 but it’s still dumb imo. I guess a lot of people violate the law but if you get caught you get fined a buttload of money. This ordinance is typically more of an issue in houses than apartments.
