Nascar,

Haven't they shut down the Chicago Public schools in anticipation of a blizzard I thought I heard Judy Hsu say something about that on Channel 7.

It's not so bad here on Lake Mich yet, but it is getting kinda icky!

I believe so. I know my brother's school (in the 'burbs) is closed. You should start getting hit in the afternoon. It is that nasty kind of snow too. Not heavy, but like ice pellets hitting your face at 40 mph. The 25-40 mph wind sucks - takes your breath away. So be ready!!!

That is freakin' awesome!!! I think that my qualify as a "redneck" snowblower. And if that is the case...then I am a true redneck b/c I think that is awesome. Those people down south, although simple, aren't stupid. They're very resourceful. That is just a beautiful machine.

I would have loved to have had one of those this morning...It would have turned a 45 minute job into about 3 minutes...

I too think it's awesome...

Notice, no mufflers...

I think it's the redneck in me that has fallen in love with www.v8snowblowers.com

OMG!!! That is going to be one loud machine. I can't believe that it is a 454 big block! I know someone would buy that and slap a supercharger or something on there. That is so Tim "the tool man" Taylor.

I want one!

SAN ANTONIO is killing me, this 68 degree weather is just tooooo nice!!!:D

It's snowing here too! Didn't that weather rat see his shadow the other day?

If Dr I was a sandwich, what kind of sandwhich would he be?

1. Subway foot long Ham
2. Quiznos Turkey Bacon
3. Mconald's Quarter Pounder w/cheese
4. Wendy's spicy Chicken
5. A Tennessee "Turkey" Dog

????

nasty man-eater. go find your DF to chew on

Hey Austin, I'll let you figure it out if I got into DCOM or not ... as far as we all know, it could all be a conspiracy theory propagated by DocMom so as to attract more applicants to DCOM. We all know how much you all and Pre-Osteo love me

So humble and modest, how could people not love you?

Ooohhh... she sounds like a winner!

Hi everyone,
I am interviewing at DCOM next week and was just wondering what everyone really liked/didn't like about the school. Were the interviews pretty relaxed?
Thanks!

I love the snow too :D We are actually getting Docmom's snow today here in Chicagoland. We are expecting around 6-10 inches. It is going to play hell with traffic though. Last year, we had snow like this and it took my wife over 3 hours to get home  Hopefully that won't be the case tonight.

Docmom, how far are you from where they got 110-12- inches in upstate NY? That would just be amazing to see, but how the hell do you sled in that???

We are probably three or four hours away from there. Nothing like that here in Albany.

Good luck! Likes...EVERYTHING!!! Dislikes....ummm....apparently not enough snow, but that's it. :luck: :luck: :luck:

You will love it. The interviews were really relaxed.

Hey thanks! Yeah, I'm really excited to interview there. It seems awesome! :) Did you interview anywhere else?

Here is a letter I received Friday from Paul Carney. I had asked for an extension for my deposit.

Tiagao,

Our class is beginning to fill up and we still have several offers of admission outstanding.

For our inaugural class of 150 students we have already received nearly 2,000 applications for admission. (1948 to be exact or 13 applications for each seat in the class) Additionally, over two-thirds (110) of the seats in the class have already been filled. Fifty-five students who have been placed on the alternate list have expressed a strong desire to attend, if given the opportunity to do so. Also, we have continued to interview applicants after your interview day and have made additional offers of admission.

The response to LMU-DCOM has exceeded all of our wildest expectations. As one can easily see, we will fill our fall 2007 class very soon. There are still a few seats available, but they will not be available for very long.

Paul Carney

Tiagao

I think I am applicant number 2001 at this point .... as I applied yesturday. I know that's not pretty but hopefully luck favors those who are last minute.

I know, right?!

Did you ever just want to hit her?

it was annoying at times, but no. never. Dr. I is not cruel enough to hit women.

and to the late applicant, what's your stats? why apply this late? are you an MD-reject?? ...

Hey thanks! Yeah, I'm really excited to interview there. It seems awesome! :) Did you interview anywhere else?

I interviewed and was accepted at PCSOM. I also interviewed but withdrew post-interview at NYCOM (I got pressured into that one by family.  ) With the exception of LECOM-Erie who rejected me because I hadn't taken organic chemistry yet, I withdrew my other applications. I  DCOM!!! The school is really great. I am sure you will love it. The people are wonderful, the school is going to be really top-notch, and I think it is an incredible opportunity to be part of the first class at a school.:luck:

I spoke with the guy from ARH yesterday. The stipend is during the residency and then you sign a contract and get all kids of great bonuses for doing that. I am not going to go through all the details, because that is his job as a recruiter. I will let you all call if you are interested. The sites are throughout eastern Kentucky and up into West Virginia. There are lots of mountains there and it is even more rural than Harrogate. That is in the heart of coal-mining country. They are offering a really great program, but I would drive out to the area before you sign any contracts. BUT....they are signing specialists as well, not just PCP. I didn't inquire about any of the current positions for any specialties because I am only interested in the FM spots. I am really interested in finding out what other opportunites hospitals in the area are offering. I wish there was something while I was in school.

 :hardy: IT'S SNOWING!!!!!! The area is supposed to get any where from 1 1/2 to 3 feet!!!! WOOT!!! SNOW DAY!!! :hardy:

I would LOVE to have a snow day however, no dice. Here I am at work, trying to figure out if anyone else is going to come in. So far there are 5 of about 20. The big man isn't even here yet.

BLIZZARD WARNINGS!!!! They are saying it is supposed to be a record breaker!  I actually don't really have a snow day, because I stay home with my kids during the day and only have class on Tues and Thurs nights. But, IT IS STILL REALLY EXCITING!!! I LOVE SNOW!!! Too bad we didn't have it for Christmas though.

How many of accepted students are not 100% they'll show up for first day of classes ? How many of you are using the $2k as security while waiting for your dream school ?

I'm 100% sure I'll be their:love:!

Is it uncool to ask this ?? Should not matter, if you've been accepted you've got a seat.

Anybody heard of a realistic number on how many no-shows a school can expect ?

I am definitely going, but I am sure there will be a few who don't.

I think we have at least a foot of snow already and many more hours of snow still to come. :D

extremely rude ...

It's a security for me. I'm not ashamed to admit it either. Spare me the moral shpeel, there's a reason theyre trying to collect 2K before we even attend the school. They have their reasons and we have our own. That's how the business side of medicine works anyways. So yes, it is a security. If you have a problem with it, go take it up with the Lounge and vote for me as most despised/outspoken  ... like some other pre-osteos have.

It's a thing us non-trads like to call "A real, paying J-O-B!"

You get this thing called a career, you go there for 9 hours a day and they give you a paycheck at the end of the week.

Shout out to all the non-trads with a J-O-B!

Hmm, I have a J-O-B myself. Actually, 2 jobs. I get 10K for it total. Do you have one? Or is it being the poster-daughter for DCOM? Did DCOM pay you? ;)

DocMom doesn't have a paying job from what I recall, as she tends to those kids and goes to class. Her husband, from what she's been saying, doesn't exactly roll in the bling ... hmmm ... get my drift? Always worried about no money, and yet, she's rolling out another pet or a camera ...

It's okay Sunny, I know you didn't catch on ... but, just like how you finally caught onto DCOM being in TN, you'll soon catch on to this, too ...

BLUE MOON OF KENTUCKY.....

Official Song of the
State of Tennessee

I was waltzing with my darlin' to the Tennessee Waltz
When an old friend I happened to see
Introduced him to my loved one and while they were waltzing
My friend stole my sweetheart from me.

I remember the night and the Tennessee Waltz
Now I know just how much I have lost
Yes I lost my little darlin' the night they were playing
The beautiful Tennessee Waltz.

Oh Inviz, always getting up on everyone. And believe it or not, these things called "digital cameras" have been around for years. So maybe, JUST MAYBE, this camera she's using isn't really new...

Also, it looks like a camera phone.

I dunno. I love my profession, but sometimes I think my managers are crackheads. The other day one of my old managers called me and asked me to come in to cover a couple of total hips.

I'm not in it for the money, but I'll be daggum if I will work for dang near free!
