DO Match List Thread 2021

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It is hard for DO to match into anesthesiology at UCLA, UCSF, Stanford and UCSD programs in California. Top DO students usually have to go out of California for top programs or stay in California for lower tier program. I appalled that PCOM has a DO match into UCLA anesthesia.
Loma Linda has several DO!?

I am sure he is a top DO candidiate, but matching to UCLA from PCOM, I am willing to bet he has extraordinary connection at UCLA.

He’s a she and she’s awesome and did not have a connection at UCLA beyond being from California.
She has to be an outstanding DO with very high scores and research without any UCLA connections. I do not find any DO in UCLA anesthesiology program before. Good for her.

She 😉 and yes she has research published in Anesthesia. Not sure how much but it’s def there. Also I’m pretty certain she wasn’t in the original class.

On a side note, the person who matched integrated Plastics graduated 2 years ago, did 2 years of Plastics research at UPenn, and is also a PharmD. Ppl on SDN and even med students have no clue how tough it really is to match at these high tier spots. It’s nuts and the match list tells you next to nothing about all the behind the scenes that went into that match.

appalled means 'greatly dismayed or horrified'. maybe try amazed, excited, or impressed.

Still not much of an update on TUNCOM
I was informed about 10 students SOAPed though

Meanwhile at PCOM ... a second student who was in PGY-1 for Gen Surg just matched into integrated CT surgery. So technically we have 2 CT integrated matches in one year
how did they just match.....??? like match day was a month ago, I cant imagine there was a CT surgery spot available this far post SOAP??

Monteifore IM? Isn’t that the first time they have taken a DO?

TUNCOM has been asked for several times now so I felt obligated to give something at least. Many of my classmates (~1/3rd) chose to stay in the area and matched into programs throughout Las Vegas which is awesome given the severe shortage of physicians in pretty much every specialty here. While we haven't been given the complete list yet, I would love to share some highlights so far (because I'm so proud of my class):

IM - 20+

FM - 15+

Peds - 7+ (UCI-CHOC, USC x 2, Loma Linda x 3)

Gas - 7+ (UNC Chapel Hill)

EM - 7+ (UTSW as already mentioned)

Neuro - 4 (USC, Mayo AZ)

Child neuro - 1 (Phoenix Children's)

Path - at least 2? (Loma Linda, UC Davis)

PM&R - 4 (UCI, UNC)

Psych - 10+

Ortho - at least 2

Gen Surg - at least 3

DR - at least 2

OBGYN - at least 1

Uro - 1

Congratulations to all that matched/placed!!!

Just FYI all the links to the match lists that we have so far (partial or full) can be found in the OP. @AnatomyGrey12 started putting the links in his very first post, but for some reason he is no longer on SDN, so I took up the mantle as I should lol.

Noticed a couple days ago. Pour one out boys...

He's still on this board, but incognito. LOL.

Woah hang on to your pants lads. I just think it’s funny he left right after match. 🤣

All jokes aside I appreciate what he brought to the forums. About to finish MS1 now and I would also see him give some helpful posts in the premed forums over the years.

I wonder if his anonymity was compromised so he had to reboot. Not that he has ever said anything controversial here. That said, he’s the best of the best out here. I’m still crossing my fingers we meet at a surgery conference or something.

Gosh yeah if only there were a relatively new account in the same part of training in the same specialty, with the same stats, location preference, and writing style. But alas, I could only find one of those.

Oh well... at least he's the successful version of failedatlife.

That guy still takes the cake for most quotable on SDN

All I've ever wanted in life was that blonde haired, blue eyed sorority girl. All she has ever wanted has been Chad the 6'2 dude with a 260 and top tier Ortho residency.
