Not really etiquette, and maybe someone can suggest a reason it would be bad to announce it, but my thinking is that .... in the past, rarely (I think... doesn't seem like it's been 'often') wolves have had the ability to rez-convert. So one relatively cheap 'n low-risk way to check if a resurrected player is a villager is to just ask who did it. If it's a wolf rez, they aren't going to want to announce it. Usually, villager resurrectors only get one rez, so announcing themselves doesn't really put them at 'risk' of wolf attack - it's not like they have an ability left to make the wolves want to take them out.

When I modded with LIS we gave the wolves the ability to make a villager seer as a wolf so it can happen but isn't typical.

No worries, like I said: no ability so it's no loss. I was just told I was blocked - it didn't say anything about the catnip doing it, but it would make sense as a blocking item.
