Just submitted my secondary. it says

Validation passed: Yes
Submission date: 2015-07-08

on the right side of my screen. however, the submit button still appears at the bottom of the page. is anyone seeing the same as I?
I have that as well, and I've received a receipt of payment. Do they send an e-mail stating when they have our LoRs and inform us our app is under review?

does anyone else feel like this is one of the harder prompts?

Has anyone received an e-mail stating that their application is complete? I submitted my secondary 7/4 and wasn't able to pay for it until 7/6, but I still haven't received an e-mail confirming they've received my LoRs?

I have very tough time to write this essay: "Please describe a volunteer or service activity that played a large part in your decision to become a physician."

I wrote a lot in PS that my clinical volunteering activity and there was one particular event stimulated my desires of becoming a physician.

I don't want to repeat my PS. Does anyone here have the same problem as mine? Any advice? suggestions?

I kind of had the same problem although I didn't go into as much detail in my PS about my volunteer work. Maybe state a specific example or time when you helped someone that you truly felt like you could see yourself as a physician. With me I volunteer in the Hispanic community and I learn about their struggles with healthcare so I mentioned that as well. And maybe follow up with what you did afterward to make sure you could achieve your dream.

So even though it says please don't copy and paste into the essay portion, are people manually retyping their essays in?

Have you ever been charged with a speeding ticket, misdemeanor, felony, summary charge, or any other criminal charge (whether or not you were convicted or even if you were told it was expunged as these will often show up on the background check)? If yes, specify if you were or were not convicted of the charge. If you were not convicted, list what the status of the charge is. This includes traffic violations but excludes parking violations.

They are really trying to get people to incriminate themselves with this question.

They want people to type out answers because formatting doesnt carry over from MS Word to their text boxes. I looked at my answers after saving the app and there were lots of formatting errors.

Really? When I did it the only formatting errors I had was when they took out the tabs I put in?

Also for the prompt : Please describe a volunteer or service activity that played a large part in your decision to become a physician

I wrote about my job, which helped the community gain health insurance. Is this going to be a problem?

Im using Office 2007 so maybe its an old software issue. My paragraphs were fused into 1 wall of text and the apostrophes were replaced by weird characters.

http://www.vcom.edu/admissions/application.html
so this website says it's $70. but when i went to go pay, it was $50. everyone paid $50 right?
also what's up with not letting us use credit card.
I think the primary application fee is $70, like you pay the base AACOMAS price then they are $70 more. And I had the same issue with the credit card. I had to make a paypal account and list my credit card for it before I was able to pay.

Am I the only one that thinks the 2nd question on the secondary does not make sense?

Professionalism and the ability to gain respect in the community in which you live is of utmost importance as you embark upon a career as a physician. What three professional qualities do you feel a Student Doctor must be able to demonstrate as he/or she makes the transition into the study and practice of medicine. How will you demonstrate those qualities as a medical student at VCOM?

Do they mean, "makes the transition from the study to the practice of medicine"?
There is no transition from a student doctor to the study and practice of medicine. A student doctor does study and practice some medicine.

I am so confused.

Student doctor = medical student
the study and practice of medicine = doctor
?
WHAT ARE THEY ASKING?!

I tried to pay with a check, but it asked for a "check number" only which is weird. My application page indicates it was validated and submitted, but no charges to my bank account. Did anyone have luck paying for the secondary with a check?

Is there only one application for all of the campuses since they tell us to rank them?

I personally thought the whole professionalism essay was kind of bizarre. I think it basically asked what qualities are important for a student to have and what does VCOM have that'll allow you to demonstrate it.

AKA...why VCOM.

I haven't received a secondary from any of the campuses.. May application was verified on May 22nd. 🙁 Did anyone else got verified early and haven't received the secondary?

I have been verified since the beginning of June and also haven't received it

Just checked my spam folder and found out they sent me a secondary three weeks ago... fml = =

Yup discovered the secondary in spam folder June 26.... FFUUUUUUUUUUU

I just submitted my secondary but I have a question to see if any of you can answer:
I have my LORs on the primary app. Will they receive them through that???

They should, although, I have my LoRs on AACOMAS and though I've turned in the secondary, I haven't received a confirmation e-mail that they've been received.

Is anyone having any trouble submitting a payment? When I submitted the secondary, it didn't take me to any payment page. I emailed admission but haven't heard back from them.

I had similar questions regarding this. I emailed admissions to ask if I was complete. I received an email today were she assured me I was complete and my letters were received.

So they didn't send you an e-mail of receipt for your letters before that one?

I'm having the same issue. I submitted my secondary but wasn't able to pay for it right away. When I clicked the "submit" button again it didn't take me to the payment page.

I e-mailed them about that and they sent me a link to the payment page.

No... I didn't receive any communication. The only reason I knew about my letters and my complete status was because I emailed VCOM and asked.

Interesting. Did you send your letters through AACOMAS? Or did you send them directly there?

Anyone here received the fee waiver for the primary? If so did your secondary fee get waived?

:yeahright:I think these essays will take me foreeeeever to write.

For the 'why DO' question it specifies to include 3 main reasons. Is everyone else listing specific 3 reasons in order? I found that part to be difficult and not easy to make into a answer that flows together

i did not. I had two combined in the same paragraph because they were somewhat related and 1 separate.

I did. I made three separate points, with an overall theme to tie them together. Not sure if that helps you out.

@vanbennj @madridista10 : wasnt the link to payment included in the email containing the link to the secondary?
Well yes but when I tried submitting the secondary, paypal wouldn't allow any credit card I typed into it. So I tried submitting again but the payment page didn't show up again. So I e-mailed them and they sent me a separate paypal link for their app fee.

So, has anyone heard anything from this school after submitting the secondary? I submitted 07/08 and haven't heard a peep from them, and it makes me really worried since the only change in my secondary app is the fact that it that "validation passed: yes" and the submission date in the upper right hand corner.
