Current Endo resident here extremely interested in OMFS. Is it possible and practical to practice concurrently as an endodontist and oral surgeon? I know endodontists that place implants, but I'm more interested in the broader scope of OS in addition to endo. Any feedback from practicing or resident endodontists/oral surgeons would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Financially it doesn’t make sense. Let’s say you work only as an associate and make 270k each year. You give up on about a million dollar to do another residency. There are several dual specialists perio/endo or pedo/endo but other specialties are shorter, and they probably transfer some of credits from your endo residency so you don’t stay in school for another 4 years. At some point, you need to start focusing on your family, kids, and there are more important issues than spending time in residency.

2 close colleagues of mine are endodontists. I am an OS.
Sounds like you don't want to leave endo entirely, which is a good thing. Stick to that field, my friend. I echo the prior poster - there are things of greater importance outside of your profession.
