•Doctora Foxy, I got two letters, one saying that I have been waitlisted and the other (about two weeks later) saying that I remain waitlisted. The second letter included:

"We request that everyone interested in remaining on the alternate list for the 2002 class send, or fax, us a letter telling us so. Letters must be in our Office of Admissions no later than May 15, 2002. If we haven't heard from you, we will assume that you are no longer interested in attending George Washington and will withdraw your application from consideration."

I know that you were interviewed later than most, so perhaps they haven't sent a second letter yet? Anyway, send or fax a letter right away!•••••oh wow! now I'm scared..I got my waitlist letter on May 3rd. I wonder what's going on. I'll send my letter tomorrow morning. Thanks for typing that up for me 🙂

Bump--the list is moving

naya just got in! ---the creator of this thread! 🙂

Please give us some info! 😀 How did they notify you? When did you interview? Did you write a letter of intent?

Apparently naya was notified by mail. They specified people would be notified by phone. They could notify me by a brick through my window; I would still be estatic.

SeeGulz, I really really hope you get in. I especially hope you get in before I ever do.

By the way, I did some "research" and naya interviewed in November.

Thanks Foxy, very kind of you to say. I would love to see you at GW as well, though I know UF is probably your first choice. Anyway, I will drink a toast to naya tonight. Hopefully the SDN'ers as a whole will see some good movement in the coming weeks.

I was notified today by mail. What a surprise. I had called earlier in the day and the 'phone lady'
stated she couldn't find my file. My thoughts were... they had thrown it out. So you can imagine my excitement when I opened my acceptance letter. I interviewed in October so it's been a l-o-n-g wait. It was my first interview so I was somewhat nervous (became old hat by the end of this process) but my interviewer put me right at ease (bless her). To update my file, I sent three letters of intent and an additional LOR. My letters of intent showed how my goals matched with their objectives.

I just got a letter from GW today of acceptance! I am soooo happy that I was jumping up and down all the way from the mailbox to my house! 😀
It was dated back in April, which was weird, but I guess they waited until May 15 to send it. Good luck to those on the waitlist. And see all of those matriculating next fall at GW!!! 🙂

Wow, congrats! The waitlist is really moving! Did you also send a letter of interest, KDocGirl?

Thanks DrFoxy! Yes, I did send in a letter of interest just like the office suggested in their letter (the second one). Good luck to you and everyone else on the list. IT'S MOVING!!! and EARLIER THAN LAST YEAR!!

CONGRATS TO YOU,KDocGirl !!!!!!!!!!!!! See you in the fall.

Thanks Naya! See you there! 😎

Any ideas why I never got the second letter? I got the first one on May 3rd. 🙄

CONGRATS to the ladies who've been accepted!!!

let's hope they show some love to the men soon! =)

Foxy,
I'm not quite sure why you haven't gotten it yet. You got the first letter not too long ago, so maybe the second letter is coming. You could always send in a letter with any new info you have, if you haven't done so already. All the letter stated was that you are on the alternate list, and if you are still interested, send in a note telling them so (so they don't drop/skip you). They probably are just organizing their WL. Hope this helps... 🙄 Just remember, you have your Chicago ticket in hand in the meantime! 😀

Congrats to everyone accepted off the waitlist! 🙂 Don't forget to post on my thread! As Foxy pointed out, it's getting rather lonely out there...

Good Luck to everyone else waiting to get off the waitlist - it looks like things are looking up! Hope to see yall this fall! 😀

Hey Naya,

CONGRATS!!!!!!!! I am TRUELY happy for you and your significant other 🙂
I knew you were going to get in. You know why? b/c you work at MBI and you are a GREAT Lakers fan 🙂 (just kidding)

GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!

 Hurray for KDocGirl

I especially like to see the Californians get some good news because there own state is such a pain. Sucks though that the letter was dated in April and you still had to wait until May

Thanks SeeGulz! Yes, I was complaining to my dad why we had to move to California and not the MidWest. He just shook his head and said something about how he'll never win. 🙄
I'm really hoping you'll get in. I know you only applied to GW, which shows your dedication, and that should only be rewarded with a BIG, FAT envelope in your mailbox. 😀

I just called to see why I haven't received the second letter. The secretary (so nice by the way) said I should have received it and that everyone should have received them. She said I'm still on the waitlist and I can go ahead and write that letter anyway.

I did call Darrell a week before I got my waitlist letter and told him of my interest to attend, and also that I would prefer GW over the other school that I hold an acceptance at. Maybe they never sent me one and he took that as my waitlist acceptance? It's probably just lost in the mail though. In any case, I better get on it!

Thank you so much SeeGulz for that excerpt from the letter. What would I do without SDN? 😀

KDocGirl: Thanks!

Foxy: No problem!

Associate Dean McGrath: You can call collect!

2 people got off the waitlist today (or yesterday?)

see the penn st vs GW thread

I think they got a call 😕

I think one was called the 29th and the other the 30th. Both seem to be leaning toward Penn, though.

Yes, I received a phone call yesterday from GW offering me an acceptance. I have a week to decide, but I am almost certain that I will choose Penn State. Good luck everyone!

I called today and the lady told me she sent a letter out yesterday. I guess I'm in. Good luck everybody!

Congratulations jizzer!!!
Glad to be wrong about the phone vs. letter thing. Way to go!!!

Congrats jizzer!! I know you were very anxious about hearing from GW.

bump--I don't want this thread to get lost! 😛

I called GW and was told that there was a lot of movement after May 15th, but that it has slowed signifcantly. If I remember correctly, she said it should pick up in late June to early July. I think the $3,000 deposit is due about that time.

$3000 is due June 20th. Cha-ching!

hmm.. do u guys know Dr. Brian Mcgrath email add or ph no.. i cant seem to find it in any lit. they gave us or the website.. would appreciate it.

thanks.

When I sent my second letter of interest, I addressed it to Dr. Brian McGrath, but I have not seen a publish email address or phone number for him. I suppose you could go through the main office, either asking for a phone appointment or requesting that an email be forwarded to him.

You can verify this phone number at the gwumc.edu website. Go to search and type in Brian McGrath. The phone number shown was (202)994-3506.

GWU withdrew my application today, saying I never responded to their letter....but I never got the letter! This is ridiculous, I called May 23rd and the secretary said everything was fine and I was on the alternate list. I just wrote a 2 page long letter of interest and emailed it (and I'll send it by snail mail (priority) tomorrow. Ugh! 😛 😛 😛 😛

Damn that sucks.

Just got off the waitlist from GWU this afternoon!!!

Denilson: Congrats!!! It must feel great.

Foxy: I am sure that the situation can be rectified. Maybe you can guilt them into giving you a spot

ouch foxy! hope it works out for you. =)

anyhow, i need some advice from you guys/gals...

i got my april mcat scores back today and i improved them by 2 points (1 pt on verbal and 1 pt on physical). i called the office and the guy said for me to only send in my new scores if they are a "drastic" improvement. is 2 points a "drastic" improvement??? should i send it in regardless of what he thinks is "drastic"???

thanxs a bunch!

Joe Joe, kudos on your improvement. If your physical sciences or verbal scores were low to begin with, I would send in the new scores. Also, it gives them one more reason to dust off your file.

The more I think about it, you should probably send them in regardless of what you got the first time. Two points is an excellent improvement. The effect will either be positive or neutral. I don't think it could hurt. Congrats again!

thanks for the advice seegulz! i've been getting mixed reviews by friends, but i will heed your words of wisdom and submit them anyway.

Just got off the waitlist today 🙂

I just sent my update letter #2 including that I was elected to VP of the National Society for Non-Traditional PreMed and Medical Students. Then I launched into massive begging and kvetching about wanting to attend my #1 school instead of my #2 or #4. 😀

I also offered bribes and coffee cake. Think it will work?

I don't either, but it was worth a shot....

spam got accepted from the waitlist on 6/6 good luck everyone! 🙂

Good luck to you with Hahnemann, CityIvy. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.

100th post on the waitlist thread. Must be a good omen, eh?

I'm rooting for you SeeGulz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks naya! If I don't get in this year, maybe you could show me the ropes the following year. I might be moving to DC soon anyway, so I would like to get in on any DC-SDNer gatherings regarless of an acceptance. It would be nice to put a face to the screen-names behind all the help and kind words.
